Mechaius Mechs
Here is a forum for mech designs, I say we pass them through the community to know if we are going in the right direction with the mech before we do concept art. Other people may post their mech ideas here. Included is a possible templete.
Rethgal Movement Type : Tank Treads Base Armor : Maruader Base Speed : 6/10 Basic Equipment : Twin Rocket Launchers, lagging upon launch, but fast acceleration, medium to high damage with small explosion Appearance : Semi humanoid form mounted upon a tank's base, pivots in all directions, and can fire in all angles above 0 degrees. Limitations : High Ground Clearance, making their Rockets unable to hit low to the ground mechs Terrain Favorablilities : Flatland, Rocky Flatland Terrain no no's : Forest, Mountains, Cliffside, Cramped Areas Rarity : Common, but fading out in later game Equipment : Upgrades are readily avaliable, Speed upgrades are rare Special Upgrades : AAA Tracking, allows their rockets to home on air Targets, making them valuable mobile anti air. |

Sounds pretty good, here's an idea of mine:
Clawbot Movment type: Small wheels Base Armor : Scout Base Speed : 8/10 Basic Equipment : Two slash arms, tipped with razor blades, short range but powerful. Appearance : Short, sort of like an upright lizard. It can attack in front and behind it. Limitations : Unable to attack anything above or below it. Terrain Favorablilities : Forest, Cramped areas, Flatlands Terrain no no's : Mountains, Cliffside, Very Open Areas Rarity : Common, but fading out in later game Equipment : Upgrades are rarely avaliable. Special Upgrades : Swivel arms, which allow it to target in a circle around the robot rather than just in front and back.

Reverent
Movement Type : Hovering Base Armor : Maruader Base Speed : 7/10 Basic Equipment : 'Phantom' class phased energy cannon (deales phase type damade) Appearance : Humanoid robot, made mainly of interconnected rings and rods made of a strange, off-white metal, with metal plates of a black metal. It has no visible mechanical parts, and is illuminated by a faint, white, glow. Its head has two cameras which resemble milky white marbles. It has a similarly clean and smooth gun on its right hand. Limitations : Insides are not very durable and thus it is mauled by melee fighters. Terrain Favorablilities : Open areas Terrain no no's : Jagged terrain and caves Rarity : Very rare, mech seen in the future Equipment : Weapon upgrades are moderatly rare, speed upgrades are rare Special Upgrades : EM pulse device- deals lotsa EM damage to all nearby mechs. Can only be used once, then needs to be replaced. Luckily a easy to get upgrade, and multiple of them can be installed at the same time (a maximum of 3)

It has been called to my attention that these said mechs cannot be copyrighted, and therefore, in refrence to the game, we cannot directly copy the mechs word for word, but can base them off of them.
EDIT: Upon further inspection, I have developed a work around, and these mechs may be used. Carry on. |

Here's my mech...
Name: Dragon Mk.810 Type: Two legged walker Speed: 550 km/h walk, 895 km/h run Height: 22m 76cm Weight: Half a metric ton (I'll look it up later.) Look: Two legs, two arms, a large thruster on the back, a cockpit, and a small machine gun under the cockpit. Abilities: Rocket Jump - Allows him to jump and hover in the air for periods of time. Limited fuel. Heat Sink - Help to keep in the battle longer: expells heat generated by the engine to prevent self-destruct or cool-down vent shutdown. Weapons: LRM 30 - A swarm of 30 light-weight missiles home in on the target. Regeneration time: 45 seconds. Limited ammo. Vulcan Canon - A heavy machine gun, able to pierce armor, but slow firing rate. 10 shots/second, Limited ammo. EMP cannon - Able to shut down an enemy mech in one shot, it is not very accurate. Uses a lot of energy to shoot, and a miss could be fatal.

Hey, this all reminds me of a game called Cybernator (Super Nintendo). It was nice. I think there was a sequel too (Also on Super Nintendo), or at lest something very similar, where there was a lot of different mechs to choose from. In both games the mechs had shields they could use to shield off enemy fire. Both were awesome games.
![]() The later one was really awesome, with its multiple playable mechs. I remember this one that was a ball that could alternate the shape of it's shell for different purposes, like holding a plate of it's armor up as a shield, and unrolling into a tripod to fire. Anyways if this game is going to be anything like those games, it is going to be sweeeeeet. ![]() ![]() I did some reserch, and I think the game was called Metal Warriors. ![]() http://www.fantasyanime.com/museum/metal_warriors.htm ![]() |

But since I can't use "copyrighted material" here I can't use the nova word-for-word, so I have to create something new.

Terraformer
Movement Type : Hover Base Armor : Juggernaut Base Speed : 8/10 Basic Equipment : Four vulcan cannons that rotate a full 360 degrees, a missile launcher on the roof initially used for homing rockets. Vulcan fires and moves quickly, does small damage. Homing rockets fire in large clusters, rapid movement, home in on target, minimal damage to heavy damage depending on how many strike. Arms can be used for melee combat, moderate damage dealt per strike. Appearance : Looks like a WWI tank with multiple guns added on, has four arms that can be used for crab-walking when hovering malfunctions. Speed is 4/10 when that happens. Limitations : Cannot stay underwater for more than 30 minutes Terrain Favorablilities : Wide open plains with nowhere to hide Terrain no no's : Places with lots of obstacles Rarity : Extreme Equipment : Compatible with any missile weapons. Caterpillar track tires that can be used when hover action has malfunctioned, and leaves arms free. Speed with caterpillar tracks is 6/10. Special Upgrades : Special exploding shells can be used to replace vulcan, increasing damage to moderate. Special hardware can be found, enabling it to double its equipment capacity. Knuckles that have spikes which, upon impact with target, forcefully burrow into target's armor, causing very heavy damage. Barrier that protects against any and all attacks, but drains power quickly. Reccomended usage is just before attack connects. Last edited by Bucky; Nov 8, 2003 at 07:33 PM. |

Err... why put unknown for things? While that is very dramatic and all, unknown isnt a very smart thing to program in. I mean, it has to have some limitation, and just because it is 'untested' (which seems very... dumb, since the story involves time travel and thus you could just go to the future and see how effective it was in the records) does not mean it does not have any. You should add actual data for those two points. But, besides that, an ok concept. What is it suppost to be, a secret weapon or something?

Ok, I got an idea for a futureistic mech. It is a bit... annoying, because of its theme, but that is not very much of a worry.
Sunshadow Movement Type : Hovering Base Armor : Scout Base Speed : 0/10 Basic Equipment : 'Sunwrath' class laser-focusing lense (deals laser type damage). It also has a suntunnel class short-distance teleporter standard issue, which is its only way of moving. Appearance : A large, floating, glass lense with glass rings spinning, unconnected, to it. Its lense focuses the sunshine coming through it into a suprisingly powerfull laser beam. The strange thing about this is that when it wants to fire its laser, the Sunshadow seems to always have the sun shining into its lense, courtisy of its sunlight diverter (a device which attracts sunlight from all around the world into its lense). Limitations : Most of it is made of glass, so it will be killed by almost anything in one hit, except for things like phase and laser weapons. Terrain Favorablilities : Open areas Terrain no no's : Water, caves Rarity : Very rare, but not as rare as the reverent. Seen in the future Equipment : Cannot be upgraded with normal upgrades Special Upgrades : Sunlight bypasser- a device which allows the sunshadow's glass body to become totally transparent, and thus making it invisible as long as it is not using its suntunnel teleporter or firing.

Interesting limitation... I suppose it would prevent you from using it in large water levels... err... yeah.

Name: Artillery Column
Movement Type: None Base Armor: Juggernaut Base Speed: 0/10 Basic Equipment: Various - Easily adaptable to most forms of weaponry (each disc uses a different weapon) Appearance: Column-like in shape and structure. Comprised of various "levels" of disc-shaped devices. Each disk has a 360-degree turning capability Limitations: Cannot move. Very susceptible between the discs Rarity: Uncommon, used to guard something usually Generic Upgrades: None Special Upgrades: Discs can be added onto the top of the column easily ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Pending (i.e. I can't think of a good one) Movement Type: Quadraped Base Armor: Marauder/Juggernaut Base Speed: 7/10 Basic Equipment: Very heavily armored front Appearance: Similar to that of a ram. Exteremely armored on the front, but mostly bare on the back. Limitations: Weak armor on it's back; Cannot gain enough running speed on rocky terrain Terrain Compatibilities: Most flat terrains Terrain Non-Compatibilities: Rocky terrains and other terrains that interfere consistently with running distance Rarity: Very common, used as fodder Generic Upgrades: Extra armor on the back; speed boosts Special Upgrades: Possibly a jumping upgrade that either doesn't hinder speed or slightly hinders speed ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Water Treader Movement Type: Boat Base Armor: Scout Base Speed: 6/10 Basic Equipment: Primary - laser rifle; Secondary - assault rifle Appearance: Humanoid upper torso to boat-like lower torso Limitations: Cannot go onto land Terrain Compatibilities: Water Terrain Non-Compatibilities: Land Rarity: Common Generic Upgrades: Various bullets for assault rifle Special Upgrades: None

I have come up with twin futuristic bosses!
Time Archive Movement Type : none Base Armor : Juggernaut Base Speed : 0/10 Basic Equipment : 'destiny' class resonance chamber (deals energy type damage) Appearance : A big supercomputer covered of the black metal that the reverent is armored with. It is dome-shaped with 6 rods of the off-white metal used in the construction of most futureistic robots, and a small globe made of the black metal with multitudes of holes in it, spinning constantly a glowing the colors of the rainbow. When it fires, a burst of rainbow energy is shot from the globe (the 'destiny' resonance chamber, which draws energy from alternate dimensions and focuses it into bolts of energy), and it's target is shaken by the immense surge. Luckily it cannot reaload fast. Too bad it has cover. Limitations : Cannot move. Terrain Favorablilities : Somewhere where it is hard to dodge attacks. Terrain no no's : Big, open areas where people can just run away from it. Rarity : A future mech, but not really a mech. It is actually a supercomputer containing information from all explored time periods and thus is a vital database to the protectors. It is a boss, and is found with the shifter. Equipment : It is a boss. It cannot be upgraded. Special Upgrades : It is a boss. It cannot be upgraded. Shifter Movement Type : spinning Base Armor : It randomally changes between scout type, marauder type, and juggernaut type. Base Speed : 9/10 Basic Equipment : 'Black hole' class gravity gun (gravity type damage). Appearance : A strange mech. It is made of multitudes of white metal spirals interconnected by white metal rods, which are all eternally spinning. The general effect of that complication is a wire metal top. It has masses of strange glowing, multicolored, orbs zooming around it. The general effect of that is a model of a very, very, crowded solar system. When the shifter changes armor type, the orbs all suddenly crowd around the mech and form armor (unless it shifts to scout class armor). When it fires some orbs form into a smaller system of spirals and the mech itself fires a line of energy into it, which is translated into a burst of gravity. Limitations : Cannot harm marauder class mechs, is deactivated if the Time Archive is destroyed, cannot stop moving. Terrain Favorablilities : Areas where it has the space to zoom around. This causes a problem, because the Time Archive does not work very well in such areas. It is up to the levelmaker which is chosen. Terrain no no's : Encloses areas. Rarity : A future mech. Is a boss, and is always found with the time archive, since it is the archive's bodyguard. Equipment : It is a boss. It cannot be upgraded. Special Upgrades : It is a boss. It cannot be upgraded.
