JJ2 Bug Trivia
After a random incident when playing on JJ2 today BlurredD and I (mostly BlurredD) figured out a way for people to capture their own team's flag. Just for kicks I was wondering if people were able to come up with how this is done.
![]() If no one can come up with a solutionin a few days, I'll post the answer - but it's really not that hard. Oh, and BlurredD, no giving it away please. |

Hax?
![]() I wonder if this counts as giving it away.

Blur looks funny with red shoes. I'll grab someone for experimentation later.
Edit: Oh, wait! It's an edited version of Tubelectric, with switched red and blue colors, and your fur colors are actually set to red, and those flags in the upper left are fake, and you have colored names! Except no. |
Feb 21, 2005, 12:19 AM | |
Aren't those red socks?

Please note that no cheating or hacking was required to get to the situation I descibed above and seen in BlurredD's picture.

Hmm... neat.
There's always that rare JJ2 bug, which gives you the flag of opposite team instantly when you join the server. So when you have a lag copy of yourself, it gives you red flag when you're red and vice versa?

Maybe it isn't the best idea to reveal how to do it.

Annoying fun that is. And I personally prefer Jailbreak over all other gametypes.

Would it be possible to start a battle game using a CTF lvl, make someone with a red name and red clothes join and make your own name blue with blue clothes (i.e. blue head-band, backpack, socks, guns, etc.). Then, use Controller to change the game mode to CTF and voila! You can, sort of, capture your own team's flag. ;P Well, ok, you're still capturing your opponent's flag, but it looks as if you've done the opposite.
|
Feb 26, 2005, 08:57 AM | ||||
Yes, that would be possible.

However it's still possible without memory editing through programs like Controller.

Is there a deadline for the answer?

I watched Pyro doing it so I am exempt. Kind of fun, though, and strangely logical.

Fun with MORE bugs!
Fast fire seekers.
![]() ![]() Here's something that should be easier to figure out. Maybe too easy... PS: I wonder if anyone is annoyed by all these huge images.

Okay, it's not that easy. Anyone can do it and without using a gamepad.

A random guess for the first one, if its w/o using progs, then I'm guessing splitscreening or something?

I get an effect like that when the game is really lagged. Show us your FPS.
|
Mar 9, 2005, 07:54 AM | |
Hm...I can easily do that with Gamehack...but I'm assuming you mean within JJ2 itself.
EDIT: I know Pyro is trying to help us with his hints, but I don't understand them? ![]() |

I'm not actually answering BlurredD's post, but his screenshots reminded me of back in the day when I had to clear out ammo from Battle3 in the Battle Server.
![]() Ah, memories.

Ergh, It's not a bug. Seekers are meant to be the most rapid fire button mashing weapon.

Just to clear things up, I (and presumably Pyro) only had to press the fire button once for it to work. And it's a bug because I'm fairly sure that frozen springs were never meant to be used to make weapons fire rapidly. Sooner or later I'm going to incorporate that bug into one of my levels.

Hmm. After much careful observation of everyone's shots. I have to say that yours and Monolith's look easy to do. Pyro's looks like a bug. I didn't exactly see what frozen springs had to do with any of your screenshots. And what do you mean pressing fire once? I don't believe that.

Solved seeker bug, solved flag bug.
Btw, the seeker bug works with ANY ammo, not just seekers. Frozen springs are essential. Big hint: they have to be pre-frozen. ;P |
