some help please, Im having trouble downloading patches.
I just downloaded Jj2 from my friends burned C.D and I had to do something to it in regedit to install jj2, I had to add list.jazzjackrabbit.com and jazz.logicware.com and I tryed downloading the patches to make jazz online work and they wont download. It says theres an error accesing the registry. How do I fix this, and should I save the patches under Jazz2_RC4 or the other one called just jazz2?

Your game probably didn't get installed properly if the patch had trouble. Uninstall the game, and then reinstall it. Apply the patch, and then after that you can modify the registry for the list servers.

Jazz2_RC4? Does this mean you got a beta or OEM version?

A little elaboration:
Only Jazz 2 versions 1.20 (retail) and greater can be played online (We either have 1.23 or 1.24, aka TSF or The Secret Files). The so-called OEM-versions (v. 1.00g is the most common one) are actually preview versions of the full game, they don't have online capabilities. Check the lower left corner of the main menu to see what version you have. About the listserver patches, all you need to do is double-click it and it'll add the listserver addresses to the registry under the Jazz2 keys. Remember, it only works for version 1.20 or greater, since they write registry keys for online play, while the OEM versions don't (I think, someone enlighten me). If you wanna get version 1.23 or 1.24, I'm afraid the upgrade patches only work with versions 1.20 to 1.22, the OEM-version has a different type of coding and are therefore incompatible with the current patches. Hunt down JJ2 On EBay, it's still illegal to download any of the full versions of the game. - JelZe GoldRabbit =:3 |

I reinstalled it and the only patch that works is the one to update it to 1.23. One of the listserver patches said it can't detect English.j2s, even though I have that file. Others say they can't access the registry. Can someone tell me what my registry is supposed to look like?
Oh, and can someone tell me which listserver patches I should download?

Jazz2_RC4 is a retail version of Jazz Jackrabbit 2 from GOD games. The RC4 indicates a video preview for the game is on the disc. The disc should contain v.1.22.
Oh, and thats just the name of the CD. And Jelze, once again you forgot that 1.10o can be online. |

And to be off topic, the game contained two preview videos, Fly!, or as I like to call it, Die!, and Railroad Tycoon 2, a.k.a. Snailroad Tycoon 2. Yeah, I sometimes like renaming crappy stuff. The box also was supposed to contain JJ1, but instead I got a note inside from GOD Games saying "Sorry, we forgot to put JJ1 in the box. Call us to have us send it to you free of charge." Of course, I called them to no avail. Looks like I have to buy JJ1 seperately. :P |
