Best jj2 moment
Ok, I haven't started a thread in a long time (except for that one failure when I prolly wasn't sober...) and I got an idea, which I've been babbling about every now and then in servers and msn...
Tell the greatest, or most memorable moment that you can remember which had something to do with jj2. |
Oct 16, 2007, 08:21 PM | |
It took me a bit of time to think of a good answer for this, but here goes.
Back when I was relatively new to the game (and had just started going by the name Black Ninja), I played in the Battle Server a lot. On occasion, I would (like everyone else did at the time) roast The Server. One day, I saw The Server sitting in the upper-left corner of Diamondus Warzone. I hopped up there, started to blast him, and then, something odd happened. Much to my surprise, The Server came to life and destroyed me utterly. Best JJ2 moment ever. |

I find it strange that The Battle Server was hosting Diamondus Warzone.

I've had plently of moments. I can't decide which one is best, so I'll just state them all. :)
There was a time in Fireball's (Yes, Fireball FoR) hotel when I was with this guy called Spitfyre, who was picking on this newbie by telling him/her "ur spelling sucks", so I correct him with "*your", and then he replies "i think firesword is going to be dead soon". The same day spitfye moves in with AE and makes him try to hunt me down with no success, and then they threaten to burn me, and they also try to block the shop to stop me from defending myself. Luckily, out of compassion Fireball stopped them from trying to burn me down (I was just starting out in the hotel, so they were richer than me). I remember when Becky was stating that her name was small, therefore small = cute, so then I replied "neon's name is smaller so he is cuter". I remember when Lark used to host his underground worm hotel thingy. He added some maze with no way of getting out to annoy the noobs, and throughout his hostings he continued to bash them, I didn't find it the least bit amusing. When JmaN hosted his hotel I requested a warp with no target to my room, and Lark kept falling for the same gimmick again and again, and then he complains about it, so then I say "that's just my way of dealing with noobs", and then he replies back "What? FS". During one of the anniversary bashes, Sprintman says he wishes he had my evasion skills, and then out of pure coincidence I join the game on HIS team, and then everyone there laughs. In JmaN's hotel Blackraptor told me something like "next time i see your lag clone i'm gonna stomp it", so then I say "ok", and then he says "you think i won't" (Death is very bad in this gametype, because you lose the coins you've gathered to buy expensive items in the shop or the auction). Later on he was stomping my clone, and I got a black screen death from dying on a carrot, so then I said something like "i died on a carrot and i didn't lose any coins :)", and then Violet replies "Kill him again!". Thank goodness for that bug. This is more recent, in superconductor I was cornered at the blaster powerup, and I knew Grytolle would be waiting for me at the right side, so I just kept running straight through and escaped under him while he kept jumping and shooting, and then he says "(-)(-)(-)". There's so much more, but I'll probably remember later. Great topic by the way. :D Last edited by FireSworD; Sep 24, 2014 at 04:45 PM. |

Chronological order:
* playing karazickle races till early morning in dt XD * the endless amount of duels with neoblaze and seph * the feeling of beating the divine FS and Dizbob with Sephiroth... however on a level they hadn't played before - QQ. * Being a new in jj2wc1 and roasting dt!ers till lol on bblair ![]() * During the final of jj2wc2, where I at one time was without powerups and with only one heart. Suddenly I hear Chiyu say "e1", so two seconds later I fall down at our base with a swarm of bouncers, hit both enemies, land at base. Sasik dies, I score, then I die. * Reading the chatlogs after CC vs. DM... 8) "Don't let them get to 20" FS: that was annoooying ![]() |

*Maybe the best single moment of my jj2 career was winning CC in semi on christmasday 5-1. It was the first round of our cw and the first cw of my whole life. Also it had been ages ago that CC was last beaten in a cw and that round sort of felt very nice. Maybe it was just the christmas feeling, dunno.
*Then one great thing has been my duels againts Emperor. I've been rofling, I've been sweating. I've cried many tears and laughed many moments so hard that my eyes are full of water. Those duels againts Emperor... they've been so cool! He for example counts our semi duels and I think it's something like 14-13 atm. (I lost a lot in the beginning couse I was a newb and then he lost quite a bit at some point because he sucked and now it's quite even) *I have had many other personally cool moments but they might not be suitable to be mentioned here.

cLANS!!!
In 1999 I founded a clan called BH because I thought clans were cool and I wanted to be cool. I let people in via an arbitrary tryout system, which was what all the good clans did. Actually got some pretty good players. Others didn't make the cut, like Sr JP CB AT, who later became known as salamander, and actually joined a later iteration of the clan.
The DL clan was founded by merging BH with RS. I was contacted by an RS member who went by "Spaz" or something like that. He was fun because he hated fquist. He made a server called FQUIST IS SATAN. In any case I met bob through him and the clans merged together shortly after. That spaz guy was not let in. Also back then trafton was really annoying and wanted to get in the clan (I really forget if it was BH, DL or DM), but I said no. And he got mad at me and pestered me a lot. This would have been 1999 or 2000. He also said I hated him because I disliked some tileset dethman made. Anyway I think we finally caved in around 2006, because he's a member now. I think. I don't really like clans any more. I'm still a member of DM because the one rule is that you can't leave once you join. It's like the mafia. People who leave were actually never a member in the first place, you see. I have lots of memories of JDC. I was one of the first members to sign up in season 1, I never did well though. I became an official many seasons later by complaining about poor level quality used in events. Eventually they got sick of me and gave me status of official in exchange for making levels for them. I became an admin later on, and was very active for several seasons in hosting. These days I usually take a more behind the scenes role though, taking more of a managing role rather than hosting events and stuff. Just don't have the time to do all the things I used to. Plus the scene has mostly moved to europe, and it's best that the hosts live over there because of that. I have more things to post but I'm done for now.

I could have beaten an old legend called Everlasting in DW back in 2002 (when I was still a newbie) but he started using the forbidden tactic of camping on the base so he could simply keep the flag. Ofcourse I didn't know any better and he still won 10-7. Keep in mind Everlasting beat iCeD once and was undefeated.
I remember back when there were theese survivor levels by EvilMike which allowed one person to take control the obstacles. MR MAGOO got control and he went all crazy and repeated stuff like "I OWN THE WORLD" "THE WORLD IS MINE" "I FEEL LIKE GOD". Ofcourse it was chaos, I loved it. Me and Boarder were chatting in a server then EvilMike joins and tells us off about not playing so then we get super motived and then Mike replies something to the effect of "YESS POWER". Spotty was hosting and there were a lot of players, namely deadlock. Deadlock was normally an arrogant prick, so then he started cursing out Spoy as he hosted intentionally crappy levels one after another and annoyed him like crazy. The fact Spoy knew well what he was doing made it hilarious. Speaking of which, I miss the days when Spoy hosted those levels. Those were great times. I had R3ptile host a duel between me and Snooze in BBSwing and aside from snooze being a totall enemy to me in this duel, R3ptile decided to bombard me with all sorts of insults to me while I was playing. I found it funny though. |

Back in the day, every time I got on Derby was on as well. I'd call him "Derbu" and he'd call me "Nobodu." It was fun.
Then, like a year ago, I randomly got on and there was a CTF with an idle host, me, and Derby. I was all like "What up Derbu" and he was all like "What up Nobodu" and then I proceeded to beat him 10-0. It was fun. Bash: Every single one.

![]() Anyway.. let's see. Some of my best memories come from JDC events. The european opening event of JDC 10 was a complete blast, the last level (Divide & Conquer) especially. The red team had a 4-0 lead on the blue one, until blur revealed that the crate in the middle is used to put base campers in jail. If we (blue) would have crashed the crate at that point, we would have jailed the entire red team. We didn't manage to do that, but we still pulled a comeback up to 4-4 thanks to people (including yours truly!) repeatedly crashing the crate. I recall the first time I've seen blur test Carrotade. He did that shortly after finishing the LMAT February set, which he decided to do instead of his "other projects, as awesome as they are". A few days after the tileset's release, I joined his server, walked around a bit, and fell down a pit. Needless to say I was utterly amazed, awesome projects indeed. Organising and playing in the 9th bash was a great time, too. |

I didn't expect to get this good laughs from this.
![]() Oh, and I got chills from hearing that one name, "Everlasting". Yeah, those couple dozen semi duels with Sucer were great. Sometimes I went apprehensive and my pupils started racing, while other times I laughed so hard I couldn't concentrate at all. And yes, the second World Championships were one of those most memorable events where a lot of players became what they are now. Those were good times. Also, winning from a situation that seems quite impossible is one of the greatest joys of competition. I recall a lot of such games and they still make me laugh. Thanks a lot for posting, everyone. Please carry on. ![]() |

Once I made a level that was a meandering, repetitive sequence of pathways that went on for an insanely long time and ultimately ended in a warp with no target, just to be evil. Derby joined the server and went through the entire thing. I felt kind of guilty afterwards.

I'd almost forgotten about this: my old Ninja clan. Those were good times! I had like 50 people going around with Ninja after their names, and we had some pretty good players. It was nice.
But when I made that clan level, things went downhill fast. People didn't like it. ;( |

Beating SkulL 7-1 in marsh simply by camping in smart locations then hearing his reaction on the jcf.
Super nuking JmaN's room in fooville when he was dominating, then seeing everyone else take advantage of the situation and continue to flame him even when he got a new room. Boy that felt great. Despite being a newbie I was able to join EM (at the time was almost impossible to join for new players) thanks to FoD. It was a great feeling. Seeing Blur's older servernames like CtF BeAtDoWn. Sometime around 2002 I Got into a verbal fight with Gummi in some server which carried out to us trying to duel in the Battle Server. There were no roasts for 20 minutes which happened to be the time she requested a duel in Battle1 instead. Thank goodness I denied or I would've been destroyed in my current state. EvilMike asking me to join OLC when I only made like 3 levels. Last edited by FireSworD; Oct 17, 2007 at 08:17 PM. |

I don't remember anything specifically right now, but most likely it would involve coming alive in the Battle Server when people least expected it. And anniversary bashes when everybody was playing were usually a lot of fun.

Playing in a stupid school level with Tyf and people; playing in Hotel Orion or whatever it was called with Tublear and people; playing with VelK and Lark in Battle Server; playing at the turn of the new year; playing with JelZe; starting a clan with Newspaz; fighting over ownership of the NC tag with Ninja and eventually becoming partners; playing with Red^Ninja and AJazz overnight; hosting JAIL; making my first CRAPPY levels and uploading them to J2C; getting sarcastic comments from JelZe about how biased Wakeman must have been to give my level a 3/3 stars because we were playing in it and it sucked; playing in ABs with people I haven't seen in years; being asked to join some clan by someone named Ryu as a newbie.
Those are very vague, low-quality memories. I should do a better job sometime else, but this is like being asked about my favorite moment involving my family. JJ2 has owned my life for the past nine years. And I've only been alive for 16 total.

Well. My best JJ2 day was hm.
When me, Gry and Chiyu beat both FoR and [Si] in Medieval Skyscrapers (Under CC and "LB" lol) Espescially FoR was hard at the first round (only a 5-4 win) .. Anyhow, I really loved those few hours ![]() ![]() Also I loved the days as a noob (when playing under the name "Adolf Hitler" and wondering why I got banned from each server.) I wonder why ![]() Also lol @ when AJazz got a router.. I also remember JJ2WC3 dueling tournament. The first duel tournament where I actually was a good duelist ![]() Ya, most of my "moments" are skill based. I also really loved the moments last year where I beat certain tests and everyone was stuck at like level 1 till 5 or something. Love hard tests, lol. I as well remember hosting my hotel .. People seemed to enjoy the hotel ![]() Last edited by Vegito; Oct 18, 2007 at 06:39 AM. |

I suppose the most fun I had was organizing JDC Euro events with Super Saiyan (shame he doesn't play anymore, was a really nice guy) in one of the earlier seasons of JDC, back when I still had plenty of time for JDC and events I organized back then somehow seemed to go more smoothly than the few ones I managed in the latest seasons.
Yeah, I know, to follow the trend I should pick some actual playing experience. But I never did win a lot of games, hence this ![]()

A duel with Stijn that lasted for hours in some medieval-tileset level by martin aka partydude iirc...we cancelled it after a while :P
Although never winning a whole JDC season, i was happy with the ranks and especially the awards i got. Bashs were also a lot of fun, especially last year. I missed this year's one though ;(

I once beat CelL 10-0, which I was quite proud of because he was considered a good player back then. Apart from that my "finest jj2 moments" are mostly outside of the game itself, on the old TF message boards and in its IRC channel... I am referring to the time in which TF was still an active clan here, since however awesome my conversations in #[TF] may still be you can hardly call them even remotely JJ2-related :P. I also remember that years ago the primary means of contact was still e-mail and I had to wait days before getting an answer. Though my English was horrible I had a lot of fun with my clan UJP back then (I think Gavie still occasionally visits here). |

Best moment(s)?
Each time Snooze left and rejoined the community. "I'll never return." "I'm Back." (Count Snooze - Back In CC 11/Sep/2005) Clanwars with 8-D were always fun to play. I also remember JJ2WC3 dueling tournament. The first duel tournament where I actually was a good duelist ![]() Then older memories, duels with Gummi were good entertainment. I remember even catching a 2-1 lead against her in JAIL, during my noobiness(or at least she called me a sick noob all the time.) As the duel was going on too slowly however, we switched to DW and I lost 1-5 hard time. Then I also enjoyed the first JJ2WC especially, on GpW's side. Won bronze-title after losing against FoR bitterly.

Yeah, those few times, real long ago when I faked some people were great, although faking others is definately not to be done.
Two and a half years back when I was kinda lost, I tried to fake Chiyu, but Gry found me out immediately. That was great. Long as heck duels are also great, yes. I remember a couple of them, which were among the best duels I've played. And yeah, a few years back, contacting people was a real pain. Thinking about it now kinda gives a sad feeling. @ Veg and SJ: The hell you weren't good duelists before then... It's kinda lame to say that after I lost to both of you so bad playing my best after dozens of hours of practice. ![]() Last edited by Raven aka StL; Oct 18, 2007 at 03:22 PM. |

I don't think so; I never made creative names. It was something using Mez01; the starting room was done with blocks and all the pathways were done with blue tubes.

Well I've had a number of good moments, but I can only recall one right now. It was when I and spazzyman first discovered that it was possible to remotely rename people in a jj2 server by doing some packet editing. Shortly afterwards I made a small test proggie in VB that allowed me to do just that. It was an early version of renamer programs that you get to see today. And I couldn't resist testing it. So I went into this CTF server where a number of people were playing and renamed some guy who was chatting with the server to... I think it was a bad word or it must have been some other name that the server hated, I can't recall. Then slowly the two started cursing at at each other really hard and the drama ended with everyone in the server getting banned (me too).
It's not something I would do today, but it's still a laugh to remember the old days. ![]()
