JCF Theme Requests
Please use this thread to request or make suggestions for themes for the JCF. Keep in mind that they may or may not be added and that that mostly depends on the my personal discretion (or that of anyone else who is capable of making themes and has the free time).
Here are some useful things to provide:
* This is key, so if someone suggests something that you would like, do state so.

I for one would like to see a replacement for the current Lori Central theme, for when I accidently click on the lori central form I am rewarded with a blinding purple.
Perhaps changing it to greys and blacks with a hint of purple would be better than the purple on purple on purple it is currently. Something like a mix between the Comedy Cafe Theme and "Dark and Simple"

Can we provide our self-made CSS files as a whole?
I played with JCF themes myself a while ago (not through the admincp though). I came up with Purple Abyss (I need to remake the logo and fix some other parts) and JCF compact (a pretty lazy edit but it gets the work done). Anyone with feedback/advice? And Cooba - sometimes using CSS in the admincp is a bit complicated, but if you provide me with a completed css file it will make it much easier to work with.

A more iPhone / iPod Touch friendly theme would be nice. As it is, things are kind of scrunched.

A small screen type of theme would probably be best designed by someone who would actually use it. I don't think that any of the admins (I could be wrong) read the JCF on that sort of device.

I propose a theme with ALL animations. The background, the logo, even the TEXT will all be automatically put on Blink or Marquee.
But yeah, a smaller theme for portables would be great.

I've been trying to figure out how to accomplish this, but don't seem able to.

Pretty funny, Drmoo. =p
In any case, I guess the first step in making a forum theme for small screens would be determining what devices with small screens the JCFers use and what resolutions those devices run at. We already know the PSP and iPod touch (the iPhone is the same) are used; does anyone else use a portable device (PDA, DS with web browser, etc)? |

In your post you said you needed to update the logo and some other things, if you can provide me with the latest version of everything I'll look into making a theme out of it.
edit: Note that I can add a CSS file specific for a theme, but this CSS file will - IIRC - only be appended to the original CSS, not override it, so you might want to adapt your style sheets to that if you haven't done so already. Last edited by Stijn; Nov 11, 2007 at 11:04 AM. |

Sometimes I'll use internet on a mobile, but that's pretty much it.

Exactly. A lot of crap to avoid and it takes a lot just to view one new topic.
So a cutdown version of JCF for handhelds would be quite nice and seems to be desired by some members of the community.

Birdie, I'd forgotten about that. It actually works quite well on the iPod touch; simple yet efficient.
Since it works on the iPod touch, I'm not going to bother looking into making it work on other stuff. ;p |
