JCS Awards 2007 [Results]
(A bunch of nonsense here, just because I don't have my own column on J2O yet)
Finally, the awards(!). To me at least, 2007 has been a very good year when it comes to level making.. with the CTF scene being more consistent than ever and all. The only complaints I have are towards the tileset and SP level makers. There had always seemed to be some competition there... this year I can name only two or three decent tilesets, one single SP pack(!!!), MAYBE two good SP levels... However! 2008 will hopefully be a better year for us green bunny lovers when it comes to this aspect, with Mike's blog being there to remind all of us we can still enjoy playing JJ2 without other people, and Blade's blog where he makes sure to feed us starving (..for more than just carrots!) fans with updates regarding his new upcoming (neat, like always) tileset.. Uhm... yeah. So the winners are.. 2007's best JCS'er: 1st - DarkSonic (aka "da man") 2007's best level pack: 1st - EvilMike's The Battle for Carrotus 2007's best CTF level: 1st - FireSworD's Unconventional Coffee 2007's best non-CTF level: 1st - Neobeo's Neobeo's Firetruck 2007's best tileset/tileset conversion: 1st - BlurredD's Desolation 2007's best music: 1st - DoubleGJ's A Prisoner Out (Chameleon World remix) Last edited by R3ptile; Jan 1, 2008 at 12:24 AM. |

GG.
Although I don't quite understand how an SP pack won the pack of the year award, that's outrageous. GG EvilMike, I guess. |

I can understand why Mike's pack appears to be the number 1 level pack of this year. It's always hard to come up with new gameplay ideas aswell as a good story, and Mike's latest pack has both. The best non-CTF level being Neobeo's Firetruck proves that the results are overally based on originality. But remember, most fame goes to DarkSonic for being the best JCSer, I guess.

Woah, I actually won the music category. Thanks guys, although I'm probably a lousy musician in reality, but as the composer of 2007's best JJ remix I can only promise to do better and get rid of all of my transposing and mixing problems!
Also, props to all other winners! Hey, I think I'm actually going to play Neobeo's Firetruck again now that I'm reminded. \o/

How can New Ages III get a bronze medal? It's not even finished yet.

The thing about 2007 is the levels were either completely focused on eyecandy or design/gameplay. Imo some had the best eyecandy and designs yet, but I would still prefer to play older levels for the above stated reason.
I look forward to 2008, however there ALWAYS needs to be more new tilesets. This year was a big disappointment in that area. Where is Disguise?! we need more active tileset makers! come on! |

Snz didn't even have to finish NA III for it to win the pack of the year award. That can give a distant hint as to how great his levels are.
Also, first post of the year! Here we go again. Last edited by Raven aka StL; Jan 1, 2008 at 07:12 PM. |
