I dunno what Cooba told you in person, but right here in this thread there was no "lol u suc n0b" post about your work (at least not odin's). He just said what you can improve.

Anyway, Jimbob, I totally didn't mean to insult you as a levelmaker. I understand that your level isn't a finished product, and I merely meant to give you advice. I know some people like to throw down a layout and then work on eyecandy, while personally I like to do the eyecandy along with the layout. I was just suggesting things to do. Totally didn't mean it in a negative way. |

Um, anyways, yes, I'm working more on the eyecandy and obviously trying to improve with the advice you gave me. But in my opinion, using masked tiles in a slowly-moving background isn't very distracting, unless you overdo it. Fyi, I've taken out the horizontal stick and added two vertical ones in it's place, btw. *totally takes back the previous post directed toward Odin*

Erm, about people not wanting you to make levels anymore, it may seem like that, but they're all only trying to help. I mean I even felt like that once because of... some people I won't mention names. What you need to do is jus try to infer from what they say that needs improvement, then show off the new and improved version (I hate it when people say that, I mean, it doesn't make sense, nothing can be new, and improved, because if its new it can't be improved, otherwise its old, and if its improved it cant be new. Anyway, keep up your level making; soon, your practice will pay off and you'll be proud in a way you can't imagine.
I know these posts were probably necessary to what was going on but, please can we go back to showing the new levels what u are buiding and goning on j2o? |

Anyways, I don't really have anything new to show since I said what I showed earlier was the last screenshot I'll show until it's been entered or released.

It does however show how different a level can be by useing diffrent tiles and whatnot.

![]() 1. You notice how your diamonds end up forming lines? Fix that. 2. You use the same ground tile over and over. There's about 3 different variations of ground tiles. Use them. 3. This was a little hard to illustrate, but basically you use a background wall behind the same background wall. Another perspective issue, same as with 1. in the first picture I did. It'll work, but it just rubs me the wrong way. |

PJ, first pic: that is an incredible color choice for the sky. It makes the level look absolutely gorgeous. Well done.

Lightning wouldn't go well with the background.

And you're right about the perspective issues, I'll get to try and fix them right away. Mainly that is because of my bad habit of flipping tiles when making symmetrical levels.

![]() Ep5 is still along way off but I'm making good progress on it. This here is the main "hub" level of the episode, and the biggest level in the episode. It will probably wind up being somewhere around the same size as deserto orbital base, but split up into smaller semgents (like the temple from ep1). Obviously the setting here is a castle on Nippius, but the levels branching off from here will actually be wildly different settings... which means I can finally go all-out and use the ideas I have that wouldn't have been fit in previous eps. I'm enjoing making this one a lot more than the previous two.

I don't think I wanted to hear your opinion at this thread. Its about levels, not tilesets. Why not make a poll about it again?

I'd personally prefer him to just go away, it's not like he contributes anything to discussion.

In fact, I want this to all stop. St. Louis actually did nothing wrong this time. This is just rediculous. I know what Veg may have said may not be rude, but at the same time it was very provokative. In fact, if he said it to me, I would have been offended. St. Louis did not imply anything, he just said it's a nice tileset, countering what you were saying about hating the tileset.

Please note: I am not directing this at Vegito, it's just a quote that I thought needed mentioning as it fit my example. Last edited by FQuist; Sep 5, 2008 at 05:39 PM. Reason: Does not contribute. I've indiscrimately deleted all posts which were attacks or replies to attacks. |
