Does anyone know....?
I am aware that this site is for Jazz Jackrabbit 2. However, I have a question regarding JJ2's fine pixelated predecessor- Jazz Jackrabbit 1 (PC version). I played this game extensively a number of years ago, but changes in computers- such as getting a new one over the years- mean I no longer have JJ on my present day computer. This leads to my question. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of JJ 1 to buy? I would dearly love to play the original again. I managed to find one copy at Amazon; however, the user informed me that the CD, for some reason, only has a few of the episodes on it. My other question is, after reading some parts of the forum, what was version 1.3 of JJ1 that had a tenth episode on the CD? Was this the X-Mas edition following episodes 1-6 and A, B and C? Many thanks.

Ebay usually has some copies popping up from time to time, prices and quality (including versions) are different though.. The only versions I'm aware of is the most-popular shareware only including Episode1, episode 1-3 floppy, episode 4-6 floppy, and the CD version I'm using now including all six episodes plus 3 extra (probably scrapped) episodes plus the Holiday Hare 94 xmas episode. I found this CD years ago in a nearby retail store for around $5, really the version you should look for if you want to enjoy the complete game!

Well... You can also download it, which is of course illegal. [removed hint on how to get it --Torkell] For this version you need the Dosbox.
If you want to buy it, i would say ebay. At www.epicclassics.com, you can buy it, too. BUt it costs 25 $ there. mo

The full CD version of Jazz was uploaded and torrented countless times, buying a CD box with official cover/backart for only $5 however was a great opportunity to get it as a memento kind of thing (still too bad I lost those damn floppies).

I have those errors sometimes too when installing.(better to say I HAD those problems too). Uninstall it, without making it delete all the realavant files(It asks you if you want to delete everything associated or just the main program itself), then install it again. Reboot the computer and this should work.
It worked with my copy.

I'm not able to run Jazz1 and various other games on Vista (without the use of tools like DOSBox), which means that the command prompt has even less DOS support now.. On XP, it was possible to make games like Jazz1 work by using various tricks, but then again you'll needed something like VDMSound to 'emulate' the old soundblaster support.

Alternatively, get Virtual PC and run DOS under that. Apparently Microsoft have done some hackery in that to fix the "your computer is too fast" bug.
