I sure hope and believe it will be.

Work progresses slowly, you know how it goes... But you know, we want to hit that 1.0.... Meanwhile, have a look round the website. I'm trying to make a post there every other week or so and there is also a minor new feature in the Userpanel.

Even while we haven't posted much info lately, I can ensure you, we're working hard on it to get you something nice to play in december. I hope we can host a greatly improved Karrot Shire in the Christmas holidays, with again, tons of new things to do.

~~~
In the meantime, I've been rounding up the level design with some new area's, houses refurbished and secret places added.
Falcury has been pushing on the utility, implementing more quests, an ingame CTF room and even more!
~~~

Yes, it takes a while, but hey. I'm telling you: it's worth waiting for

Hey, thanks for reminding us! :P

Yes, I am coding at the moment, though I think Carrotpie is overestimating my work a little. There's a very nasty CTF bug I can't seem to work out (namely, switching in-game to ctf mode causes that none of the players will detect that you possess the flag, except yourself).

The december deadline is a little optimistic as well, because KS is unplayable at the moment. This is because I have been getting a little ambitious, wanting to throw out the whole online account mess. Therefore I am stuck in conversion stuff etc. I am pleased to say, however, that the game is still coming along very nicely. It is starting to look more like a Jazz2 RPG engine than a hard-coded game now. Maybe it'll be just that in the end, who knows.

Some news on the "New Features" front. No Internet connection required anymore (offline save game based). Numerous UI fixes. New Ranking system that will hopefully be very rewarding. Trophies/Achievements. Beside all the other stuff in version 1.0.

I could try to push out a "beta" version for people to play with, when I can manage it. Go easy on us though. I have a medicine study to worry about

2009, indeed...
Too bad that the game still isn't playable because due to many improvements in the utilities one could be able to host it 24/7 completely secure. Maybe because you guys never actually play JJ2 online that you haven't noticed.

Yes yes, another three months now :P

You know what, I'll have a chat with Falcury. Maybe we can do another round in a few days, seeing all of you waiting for it, giving up hope it's still alive etc.

Falcury has added a lot quests again, and the new way of playing (offline) is working perfectly now. It might be good enough for you all to try

Oh and btw, last time we spoke about the deadline, we agreed on May this year :P So keep up the good work, Falc!

After a long break, we are back and on track to release a playable (albeit still unfinished) version of Karrot Shire, soon. A short reminder to ourselves on why we kept you waiting:
1. Hosting online all the time is too cumbersome, so we wanted a ‘no fuss’ offline solution. In that way, online multiplayer is purely optional.
2. There were many structural and gameplay elements of the game that we wanted changed or added, and we wanted to take our time to get those things right.
So, there you have it, that is what we did.

We are looking for beta testers at the moment. If you are willing to invest some of your time into making this project better, please email us at wadlcury at gmail dot com.

I'm also updating the opening post now.

How will multiplayer work without a server? Will the KS Utility allow you to host the KS world?

The best I could think of would be if the utility somehow checks if someone is hosting, and starts up a server itself if no-one is. Then you'll have a KS server online whenever a player wants to play KS online, without ever having it hosted centralized.

As Falcury noted, multiplayer is purely optional now.

As soon as you start the utility, you are prompted to start playing (offline modus).

However, if you'd like to play with other people, simply set up a server like you'd do as allways, I'm sure it will be filled in a couple of minutes :P

And as far as I know it's pretty difficult to program the utility in such a way that it will check for online servers, but I'll let Falcury decide about that

Well I think you could somehow make it possible to identify the KS server on the GiP List (with a specific server name perhaps, or some weird character in the server name that JJ2 doesn't support). All the utility then has to do to check if someone's hosting is to load the GiP List and look for it.

But of course you could also do identification on a 'deeper level' (if that is easier or more secure) by requesting the game data directly from the servers on the server list just as some GiP scripts do.

Honestly, the betatesters we have now, it took em 3 hours to only complete all available quests... Need something to spend time on? ^^

How the flying saucers do you save? I ran around the hospital, searching through the utility like no other but found nothing... So that's 30 minutes of progress down the drain.

Lol =P

You need to complete the second Storyline-quest; "Time To Heal".

After you completed that quest, simply enter the hospital and look for your Action Tab. You can save there now.

This is the part that doesn't work. My action tab is as empty as it is on open soil whenever I enter the hospital. It just won't work.

I was wondering if you could check to see if Super Carrot Magic quest is working. Ive spent close to 10 hours as its the only open quest i have at the moment, and i worked with a few other people on it. I have even gotten her the carrot and i believe ive got the map. I was wondering if this was a problem or just my incompetance as i am missing some crucial step.

I have updated the level for Karrot Shire a bit. Here is the changelog.

The most recent Karrot Shire.j2l file can allways be found on http://sites.google.com/site/karrotshire/

edit: dang, because the level is getting too big for JJ2 to handle, the 'Freeze Enemies' in the Rabbit Cannon's wont respawn. So here is a second update.

Changelog Karrot Shire.j2l - V.1.02

Fixes

- All Rabbit Cannon's in the level now have a backup elevator next to it.

-------------------
Changelog Karrot Shire.j2l - V.1.01

ADDED

-A 3-leveled TEST-minigame can be found in the Games Hall, Carvan City.

-You can now DUEL each other in The Dome, Duox City. It has not yet been integrated in the Utility, so you'll just have to countdown yourselves.

-The last 8 secrets have been added in the level. However, you can't unlock them untill the next Karrot Shire Utility update. Still, do look for them, so you have an easier time finding them after the Utility update. One might even reveal a yet-to-release area! =o

CHANGES

-Changed the collapse-tiles in difficult-to-see tiles, which leads to a secret! Some might have met the irritating, insta-collapse tiles :S Try again now

-Some more changes around secrets

-Eyecandy changes on some places, tilebugs removed etc.
