JCS Tilesets with Blender 2.48 (and Texture Maker)
I think everyone should use Blender 2.48 to make his tilesets. They come out AWESOME! Go to blender.org to find it.
Looped backgrounds must be ortographic. Disguise should use blender too, besides (and with) Texture maker.

I use MSPaint. It provides all tools needed.

Paint Shop Pro has been, and always will be my main media for tileset creation.

Having somthing to easily make background images will rux. And a 3d feel to it would not hurt
![]() BTW, I looked up Orthographic and isn't that beyond the current limits of JJ2? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthographic_projection |

How did I get into this, you know I haven't released a set for many years right?
![]() Looked at the program, and I highly doubt that a 3D package provides pixel-by-pixel drawing and palette modification so I see no reason to use it for tileset creation. I firmly believe that the only way to make a good tileset is using the above method (Agama, Blade). Have made a tileset like that before though, Metal Mania I think it was called with a bunch of gray pipes, rendered the whole set in 3D Max instead of drawing it so it's possible. Also, MSPaint does not in any way provide all the tools you need for tileset creation, but it does mean that you're on the right mindset in the way that you want to create tilesets ![]()

I agree (hey, I may be a noob on these forums, but in real life..) with the above. I have been using Blender ever since 2.45, so I'm still relatively new, but come on now, Blender would only make tiling more difficult. You'd have to set up all the colors and cut everything out externally and, point is, things come out really rough. Right now, I am working on a tileset using Gimp, it's actually coming out pretty nice, probably not as convenient as Photo though.
