Gates of the Neverhood EP
So I made these three tracks a while ago, but they were scattered around my hard drive and I just recently found the mastered versions of them. The genre's dubstep. Download here and tell me what you think.
Tracklist: 1. Eigus - Gates of the Neverhood [5:45] 2. Eigus - Neurowave Ocean [5:00] 3. Eigus - Southern Wastelands [4:55] None of these are IMO traditional wobbly dubstep, they have more of a soundtrackish feel to them, especially Southern Wastelands. Gates of the Neverhood is a pretty dark piece, Neurowave Ocean is probably the track closest to traditional dubstep in this EP and has a much 'lighter' theme.

Fine, but only if you tell me what you think of my photos
![]() I've never heard of the dubstep genre before, and don't expect this to be a review of the tracks (more a stream of random thoughts about them). Gates of the Neverhood certainly sounds like being part of a game soundtrack - it feels like a corridor theme in some dark future technological area. Good ambient piece. The organ theme gets rather repetitive after a while, and the organ itself sounds a bit distant and muffled. I don't like the drumhit right at the end - the song's already ended with the fade out, so it doesn't sound like it belongs to the same song. Neurowave Ocean... still in the soundtrack/game theme, though for this one I'm thinking more of an area for exploring than a corridor. The bass sounds overpowered in this (which is impressive, as my speakers don't have much bass response). Again a good ambient piece. It sounds like it should loop continuously rather than end. Southern Wastelands... this could be the theme for a weird cyperpunkish boss, or a futuristic racetrack from Wipeout or similar. I like the reverb and feeling of depth on the main theme, though I think it's overdone on the orchestra/cymbal hit in the background (that sounds muffled like the organ in the first track). |
