I'm SO sick of this level!
Happy Semiconductor needs to (-)(-)(-)(-)ing die!
Seriously, that's the most overplayed bunch of (-)(-)(-)(-) I've ever played. The level wasn't even good the first time I played it, but players seem to WORSHIP it. Anybody who supports this level needs to go die! Get over it. There's hundreds of levels out there so stop being so narrow minded as to pick one level and play it nonstop. Get a life. Thank you, sorry had to get that off my chest.

Couldn't agree more. I'm actually surprised it's still frequently played to this day, with all the better maps that have been made over the years. Even back when I used to play a few years ago I'd always find ways of avoiding games in semi and got annoyed when people kept picking it over and over. Imo you guys really need to move on :P

I agree with it being overplayed. Consider all those CTF packs/levels what get highly rated in the downloads section. Perhaps those could be played a little more.... or not ?

In my opinion, regardless of how good the level is, getting played as much as Semiconductor is getting played too much. Seriously, even if my favorite level were the one getting played that much I'd complain about it being played too much.
In the past I've hypothesized that all these people are actually competing for the title of Best Happy Semiconductor CTF Player in the Modern Human World, and the title comes with five hundred thousand Euros and a trophy made out of sexual encounters. God, I'm sick of (-)(-)(-)(-)ing Semi and all the other (-)(-)(-)(-)ing overplayed levels. In my old PC I have a big list of great levels I used to offer people to play on, but no. "I WANT 2 HAS TEH SEMI!111" and some other overplayed levels.
I don't get it. You start off saying the design's good, then you say you dislike its spawn, and then you end it with saying the design's bad.

Oh yes, I completely agree. Whenever I duelled someone in JDC it would ALWAYS be Semi! Can't remember which Season it was, but I ended up playing the SAME level about 70 times.

This is hilarious, but I genuinely can't stand Semi anymore, what happened to the days where everyone worshipped BBLAIR, DW, B1, Zaitox, Marsh and SBv2..? I mean, I could win a duel in Semi and then lose by 5-0 to the same player, or vice versa. Just goes to prove how random that level is.

This thread reminds me.
A few years ago, back when IC was still alive, me and P4ul would be hosting servers under the name "Impressive Creations" and nothing else. One day, we were duelling in semi for some reason (I think we were "training" for the DM vs [si] game?). Then out of nowhere, Birdie managed to hack into the passworded server and was completely disappointed by what he saw. Brd8D: I always though Ic servers were exciting. Brd8D: Now i know different. It was hilarious, it's like he just found out that Santa isn't real ![]()

Haha.
DW duels always make me laugh, though. That level is ridiculous. Both that one and SBv2 are just chill, no need to use much energy to win there; it's more like "waiting for the opponent to do something stupid with the carrots and exploiting it". BBLAIR and B1 are the exact opposite though, nonstop action. And of course, all these levels are full of dirty tricks. This is why I love them. |
Sep 4, 2010, 07:18 AM | |
Heh, gotta love those dirty tricks... :P
I personally am no big fan of Semi, yet I duel in it a lot... in the time I did duels. PRUPLEJAZ DOOL PLS |

Start of game...OMGOMOGMG go to seek power up befor any1 else111!one...go to bouncy PU...sit in the box if you like for all eternity if the player has no powered ammo. If they don't appear there, camp at wall below powered seeks. Wait, shoot bouncers through walls if anyones there. Infact, sit in that part for all eternity with powered ammo and you'll just be fine. And if they are at seek PU area...they're pretty screwed and theres no way to get up from the very left part of the level, unless if you REALLY think you can get up that place using RF...*cough* Even using alternate ways like the different warp or very right RF trick, by any chance they can still air you with bouncies. How fun... B1 sux..no offense. Sure, it has some interesting RF tricks, but it's wayy too campy for my tastes. And it's pretty much the most overplayed battle level. Not like as if b2 or b3 are any much better though... Bblair is okay, just wish some spots were more worth going to and had more ammo in some places. I never liked DW either...get powered seeks and camp in carrot box to win. *gets minus rep'd because I insulted his precious b1 )=* EDIT: My complaint has nothing to do with the level in character usage...it's just a boring camp level reguardless of character. My opinion on DW has never changed, that level is trash and I will always think it is trash. The only times I ever host it now is either because of request or to practice certain tricks. I will admit the layout has some difficult just for fun maneuvers, like being in a constant falling state while using springs to go from the box, passing the seek pu, then using the green spring at the bottom where the ebs are located, then using it to go around the right side of the level, passing seek pu again then into the warp. That's about it.
Bblair is still fun in 2vs2s and occasionally duels. I still like battle1 but I'm not beyond saying it is definitely a camp fest, but what moments aren't a camp fest are quite intense. Hmm, there are other battle levels I am starting to enjoy besides b1 like Abandoned Robotics Factory, Frozen Throne and King of the Clouds, I suggest people give those more of a try. |
Sep 4, 2010, 09:48 AM | |
I think to really give b1 a more "intense" feel is to have a fair amount of players in it...otherwise by most chance it'll be a campfest. =/ By at least that's what it's been like playing it in duels and 2v2s (yes, I remember playing b1 quite a while ago in a ladder...man it was boring) anyway.

Yeah, people should give a try for those levels. They're very good!

I'd say any online game has maps (either official or custom made) that got their immense popularity from word to word spreading. Semi in this case, has been praised as a good training level in the far past, with players hosting it again and again because popular maps have to be known perfectly by a winning warteam.
In other words, whether you like Semi or not, it'll be hard to remove it instantly from the selection among players.. ![]()

I just find it funny how it's always that a gametype or level gets played literally to an extreme while excluding other levels. In particular I'm referring to hotels, tests, distopia, dw and semi. Although it's really not much to complain about nowadays.

Semi is da secks.
![]() ![]() You have to give it some credit, if it wasn't interesting it wouldn't have been played so much.
