I use Windows 7 and have Jazz Jackrabbit 2 with the patch installed. I ran the game and I got the weird color bug.

And the bottom image is a screenshot during tinkering.

Really late to reply, but that's a typical bug of 8-bit mode. I recommend 16-bit mode instead, it looks better too.

Then maybe JJ2+ could disable the 8-bit mode, or at least show an alert when it is selected.

Most people do not experience any problems with 8-bit color and some people use it intentionally to make the game run faster.
