I have a USB Hori Fighting Stick Mini 4 (XInput device: DPAD for directions + 10 buttons) but JJ2 won't detect directions, just buttons... I tried already with tools like XInputPlus to remap XInput+dinput but nothing seems to work.
Ideas, help...? Game version 1.2.3 |

You probably mean game version 1.23, not 1.2.3, unless you're somehow running the macintosh port. JJ2 does indeed have an issue of not recognizing dpads for movement (only analog sticks), but this is fixed in the JJ2+ patch.

I mean, it's not a trojan. You can try this alternate download instead if you'd rather, though you'll still have to run an application (plusifier.exe) one time, to convince your Jazz2.exe to read from plus.dll.
JJ2+ rewrites a significant part of the code processing controller inputs. The original JJ2 code has no conception of dpads existing, and the JJ2+ rewrite does. It has absolutely no connection to autohotkey. |

Great! Thank you. Will test it asap
Can you send me uncompressed/compiled Italian.j2s file (supposing you have the tools)? I'd like to improve poor original translation... EDIT: with patched+ version I can't set Video mode 16bit HW=On (is greyed out). Am I missing something compared to non-HW version + env lights? This is something I never understood about JJ2. Here's the best .j2s editor.
Hardware acceleration in JJ2 was never a great option because it disabled some visual effects, particularly lighting and transparency. In some operating systems it even has the opposite effect of completely tanking the framerate. As the number of new visual options available in JJ2+ increased, eventually it stopped making sense to include the option at all, so it was dummied out of that menu and removed everywhere else. |

Thank you. Updated Ita translation (v0.9). Feel free to include this file with future patch updates.

It depends. The trouble is, The Secret Files was released by different publishers as two different executables, with all their functions and so on in subtly different locations in memory. The same JJ2+ patch you already have works with the version of The Secret Files that does not have a startup screen that mentions "LK Avalon" and does not include a Polish translation. If you have those things, though, it's incompatible and the patch will not work on it.

If you acquired JJ2 The Secret Files from GOG.com, instead visit https://gog.jj2.plus/ for instructions.

I dunno, it's a controller, controllers should work with JJ2 the same way they work with any other program?

No it doesn't work unfortunately. Are you sure modern XBox controllers do work?
