a chatbot.
something that talks to people in the server.. fun to toy with them also but like it helps it also. say a person says a word that YOU choose not want to be said in your server. you could enter that bad word into the program, so if a person says it besides the server, the person would get two warnings or so by the bot and get kicked. then the bot records all this into a log that tells what happens (kinda like a chatlog) (and if you were to use a log then you could add bans as well). also a catalysm kinda thing into the bot could be cool... and it talks to the people. say a person says hello, you could program your bot (via a easy to use program ) to respond.. Hey (insert name of person here) (it would be cool if it could respond with the persons name )! and then you could ask things like.. how long has this server been up? what level is this? (dont know if that could work right, but if it does the bot responds with the level info) who is running the server? etc. etc. etc. its a pretty cool program

*cough* 1.25 patch *cough*

Lemme think:
- a utility that logs all chat into a text file. One that works with TSF... - a utility to convert TSF JCS levels to 1.23. - a handy utility that prevents the server to crash when the level changes and the host is minimized. |

b) A utility? Nah. Maybe I can create a JCS patch to load the tsf levels in 1.23 jcs... But they must be made with 1.23 tilesets of course. c) Maybe in Cataclysm 2. And Txl Kill! I agree with the chatbot. You should create one that talks to ppl within the server, that'd be fun.

If c is implemented we wouldn't need any idle server programs and you can use dedicate the server by just minimizing it. Cool though! |

Txl...
Do this: Release the proggy and make it a BETA. Then tell them, "What you see is what you get, I will not help you." That way, you can have your peace for the upgrading, and have the people be happy with their chatbots.

I was just wondering, is it possible to have a program read what the people do in the server (i.e. what weapons they have, how much health they have, etc.). If it is possible to read these things with a prog, then it would be possible for said prog to ban people when they cheat. The reasoning behind this is that the prog could read whenever the person gets something that is out of the ordinary (i.e. a shield or weapon that is not located on the level)., and then it can act upon it. Maybe it could be possible for the prog to scan the level for weapons and items that it has in it, so that it is possible to be on any level and have anyone who has anything out of the ordinary kicked without the hassle of the server setting up the parameters of the level each time.

It allows you to control what weapons are allowed in the server (eg: no bouncers in server), disable certain shields, detect people cheating, ban/kick people who are cheating, turn on insta-gib (1 shot kill), the list goes on.

Each time you want to test your tileset in JJ2, you must do a certain thing: Move all the colors in the palette you just created to the right two entries, because of the transparent colors, and take care of the fact that all pixels with the color 0,0,0 are changed into something like 0,0,4.
If you test your tileset often this can be annoying and errors happen easily(like missing a pixel, etc) Perhaps a program could be created that does a thing like this automaticly. As an extra, maybe it could allow you to re-arrange the tiles in your bitmap(I am not talking about .j2t editing!)

someone told me that Project Omega makes you able to see the health of the other players in a server. He knows the number of the hearts I have while playing... he said you can see that with Project Omega... but I can't find out how.
My quests: Is this true? -yes: well, how to see it? -no: is there a program that can do this? if yes, where to download it?

Cause DX offered it, and others said I could get it if my levelpack, (of over 30 levels) is good enough.
|
Jul 5, 2005, 10:13 AM | |
DX didn't offer it, he said "ask Violet for it" which seemed to be in response to "Can't you use an external launcher ala FSP" Which was made by Violet(FSP).
And it's not freeware. If it was we'd all have it. It's only handed out to those worthy enough, if there was a word for that I'd use it, and when you have it you cannot hand it out to others unless they also get a worthy score on their episode and request it, if not it'd be Megawarp all over again. |
Jul 5, 2005, 01:03 PM | |
Somehow that seems to be a lie. Unless DX is doing something illegal.
|

I don't think it can be anything but freeware. Remember that with freeware it doesn't necessarily mean that you absolutely have no choice but to make it available just because you have it, but you can't prevent other ppl from using it and distributin it once they have it, despite it being yours, because it is creating a file that is copyrighted by Epic, and if ppl had to pay for the program, the program's creator would benefit from something that Epic created, without paying Epic back. Now, the only way you could turn it into something commercial would be to have Epic's permission to sell it.

That finally makes sense. (Yet I still want it.)
