Find the Site Here: http://www.eckhart.da.ru/baggers/ -Edit- Wow, this project has 5773 lines on code in it so far...blimey! Oh and munchies are now working in the editor. Thanks people!
Olsen: Yeah, im dying to see it textured ! All: Im currently working on the waypoint system for the level editor. Waypoints are used to set a enemies patrol path and can also be used on moving objects...i.e. a moving platform would follow a waypoint path. ![]() More soon ! |

Hey, the landscaping is actually starting to look nice now, with the holes in the walls and everything. Cool.
|
May 31, 2005, 12:43 PM | |
yeah that cave runs along side the level and leads elsewhere, this is one of the actual levels for the game, as apposed to my knock ups to test the engine... which backfired a little as this one is so fluid that the collision system i wrote cant quite handle it, so i have to rewrite that again...should only be a few hundred lines though !...if all goes well...

Hehe nooo ... its free anyway ! I have no need for such crazily good stuff as that, plus it means learning a very different style of programming which would set me back a fair way. And Im seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for this editor now, I think a week or so and it should be finished !

Okay. One word. Wow. I think this is coming along nicely. I've got two questions thou:
1.Can you make a banana as big as Jazz? 2.The Level Editor doesn't work on my computer. My computer is a: eMachines AMD Athlon XP Processor 2300+ 256 MB DDR RAM S3 Graphics ProSavage on-board card. DSL connection. What's the matter with this computer? ![]() |

Olsen: A guy from the Darkbasic forums known as Pudbawl, very cool guy...busy though, hes doing some software work for a company at the moment so he does the level intermittedly between working.
Zapper: Thanks !...hmmm make sure you have the latest directX installed, even if you have Direct X 9.c re-install it as they tend to release versions with the same name intermittanly. Also what is your graphics card capable of ? |
Jun 1, 2005, 02:58 PM | |
Let's see here:
32 MB video memory Oops, DirectX 9.0b. Sorry about that, I was sure I installed 9.0c. Oh well. Sorry for taking your time. I'll report back if it still doesn't work once I install DirectX. |
Jun 1, 2005, 03:19 PM | |
Sorry for taking your time
Heck dont worry about it !...I need to make sure this all work so when I release it that you lot can carry on the development ! Oh and it doesnt have a help file yet so im not sure how quick youll get the hang of it (first tip hold down shift and use mouse to move camera !) I have to write one soon but im just getting the moving platforms sorted. |

I'd write one, but I don't have the proper graphics card/processor.

Just showing the window where you can set make the 'arm' for a rotating platform. The editable variables are: Balls: The number of balls in the arm Gap: The distance between each ball Warp: How bent the arm is Hope you like it ! ![]() Last edited by Baggers; Jun 1, 2005 at 04:26 PM. |

Hey people, the bat WIP model has arived...now i know he's called it a dragon, slight missunderstanding, but its pretty close to the original....what can you spot that needs changing ?
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks again ! |
Jun 1, 2005, 06:59 PM | |
That bat model is actually quite nice. My only complaint is that the wings look like they're made out of cardboard - they need to curve a bit. However, that would probably be fixed in the animations. If so, ignore this post entirely.
|
Jun 2, 2005, 03:59 AM | |
The ears should curve more and the snout must be shortened, but made bigger in height, stubbier. Actually, the whole head should be a tiny wee bit bigger. And the eyes should move down the head.
That's about it. Oh, and that landscape up there is awesome. I should check this thread more often. Unfortunately, I don't know crap about programming or computer stuff or.. anything.

The bat is a bit to fat. Make the stomach less puffed out.
P.S. By the way, DirectX 9.0c won't install. Do you know anything about this? |
Jun 2, 2005, 02:38 PM | |
Glue Gun!
It tells me to click "I Accept" in setup, then I click "next." After no installation it says: Installation is done. You may now use DirextX." When I check with my video card, it says nothing got installed! (It doesn't ask me to reboot.)
Also, I just thought up a new weopon! Maybe weopon 0! It will look like a cross between a gluegun and raygun. Gluegun Raygun Put them together. The weopon would make enemies fall to the ground, where they would stick to other enemies! Put a TNT down and, WHOOSH!!! They all go BOOM. ![]() |

Futeristic police thing? Uhm.... Well..... I.... Kinda..... did......... gettheideafromabook. In a way. And I'm ubsessed with Sci-Fi and building models.
Speaking of model glue, The powered up form could eventualy harden the badguys to the ground, and then if they were turtles, you could use them like a block! And maybe even push them around! |
Jun 3, 2005, 01:41 PM | |
@ -Demo Idea- : I want a demo too !... its so hard, I want to get a demo out, but also I dont want to dissapoint you guys by giving something too WIP.
If i put it out to early this would get shunned by people saying its not working right and theres bugs here and there...its getting it to a level where its easy to see the potential to be a jazz game...but soon my friends ! (I may stick up a little runaround demo but be warned the collision code does need a rewrite !) |

NEWS
***** Ok we have lift off ! This is the current version of my JazzUpdator, this is what will not only be used to update the files once the game comes out but can distribute the entire game itself, which is probably the way i'll do it. The system makes use of high compression self extracting archives to transport the media so it is no larger than standard downloads, however it gives me the flexibility to change the code whenever I like and still ensure you get the latest versions. Also if I ever choose to Update the 'updator' i can send a message down the update link to you telling you a new version is out. Ok so what do you do? 1) Download this file (600kb) http://www.unseenconcept.net/JazzJac...azzUpdater.zip 2) Unzip the file to a convinient directory 3) Run the file named JazzUpdate.exe 4) The program does the rest ! just check the directory to see whats new. Well I hope this works for you all, please tell me if you experience any problems or would like to see any new features. Thanks people, happy updates ! Two things:
1.JazzUpdater game me a bunch of stuff but no exe. Is that supposed to happen? 2.Going back to my video issue, I have DirectX 9.0c yet none of the stuff works. My video card supports: -Direct Draw -Direct 3D 9 -800 by 600 to 1280 by 1024 -256 to 32 Bit colour -Open GL 2.something -The strange thing: Direct X 9.0b I know I have Direct X 9.0c because I used the Direct X checker. My friend has an ATI Radeon 7000 so I will see if it works on his computer. (That is the SystemCheck.exe and LevelEditor.exe) |
Jun 3, 2005, 07:28 PM | |
There's actually a second release of 9.0c (Febuary 2005), which the latest version of the DBPro engine needs. Try redownloading it?
