A good game to mod would be Pekka Kana 2 (Pekka The Rooster 2). It has a similar engine and the author even mentions he took some inspiration from Jazz Jackrabbit.

The eye candy in that Pekka game looks fairly good (other than maybe the background). I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it before. Or if anyone has, why no one seemed to notice. From the other screenshots I've seen, the game could make for some good tileset conversions for JJ2, and maybe something could be arranged.

Here is a link for anyone else who wants to learn about the game.

The tiles from it looks like 32x32 pixels, the same as JJ2 I think. Does it use the same engine as Jazz2 or something?

Pretty nice This can be our first step Mod it! Now, we need someone who wants to mod that game. I really like this idea. If possible, we can implement the sprites and sounds of JJ2 into it (yep.. sprite ripper..!), and then we have the 4 most important things: a beginning to expand, an engine, sprites and sounds. We only need levels, tilesets (-support?) and some skills to make it look even more like JJ2! Does that game have a multiplayer (online..) function? And, even more important, is its source code released? (that will help!)

Maybe you should start doing work for your mod: http://koti.mbnet.fi/kiwi/pistegamez/pk2/index.htm

This is called research.

The game you linked to has some things related to Jazz2. Not that I would like it and I'm not going to download it. The graphics and tilesets are nice anyway!

The palette is so-so, but otherwise it's a nifty find. =]

Umm... yes. It's a conversion tileset.

EDIT: the tiles are from JJ1, not JJ2.

Where did I have seen those tiles before? When did I see a rabbit in a game, before this one? And the bat? I really can't remember. I have a headache of thinking! It looks so, so... recognizable!

Oh wait, it is from Jazz2!

Argh, I'm having a rather bad graphic glitch over here. Whenever any sprite faces left (flips) it becomes invisible. As you can guess, it can make the game much less enjoyable. I don't think I want to play it until some solution rises.

Isn't it rather obvious? Look in my sig and see if you can spot the glitch. It's not in JJ2. It's in PK2 where I'm having the sprite glitch. Don't act silly now.

I don't think it's corrupt. It only has graphics for when it's facing right. To make them face left, they are flipped. But somehow there's some weird glitch that makes them disappear. I joined the forums but their retarded system makes you wait until you're approved by a staff member before your account is created. I could do e-mail but the address is hidden.

WR- I'm sure JJ2 isn't the first game to have a bat as an enemy. So technically we're stealing from someone else.
And a rabbit is to general. Jazz Jackrabbit is stealing from Reader Rabbit if we used the logic at hand.

It doesn't have the same huge nose and doesn't have that intense purple color, so no.

The JJ2 bat looks like something Witch Hazel from Looney toons would cook inher Rabbit Stew, the Pekka bat looks like it could fit in the game Okage: The Shadow King.

So no, it didn't steal from us.

Gee, we've only failed miserberly at your suggestion for the past 5 years, one more try couldn't make the situation anymore pitiful.
You say we're not getting anywhere, and thats good as from not going we can easily get on track. Your suggestion will only drive this train into the ground. And it's really hard to make a train move when it's in flames and busted up.

as said on page 1: I cant. I imply cant. I dont know how, and it will take years for me to learn that. Sorry. Im someone who thinks some nice (and less nice...) ideas, but I cant do it myself. If someone would like to start, I can help getting the sounds and sprites, but I dont think that I can do more.
