K!
Anyway back on track...I am currently working on the turtle AI...just spent the last 20mins hunting down a bug in the waypoint system but thats fixed now, so patrols are live ! This allows for up to 8 different locations for a creature to patrol. |

Well for some reason i never stop trying to model and this time it actualy came out ok...this is the WIP of the turtle.
![]() HOLY COW...ive nearly shifted a gig of data from my webspace this month...and i did the same last month, thanks people ! |

@Sonyk: wow thanks !...yeah this is the model im most pleased with so far...now i need to learn to texture things properly !
I may give the bat a go soon...its the animating thats going to be the hard bit ! @All: The turtle is hunting me !....hehe it chased me but i led it into a pit...it go stuck and i shot it ! |

If it helps you, though I'm sure you know this already, the bat has 2 stances... hanging from event pos, and flying. If you want to make it accurate, the bat starts hanging from it's position, until the character comes within a range of 3 tiles (or whatever unit of measurement you will use), then starts flying. If you leave its range, it'll return to the start position, still flying.

@Unknown: thanks, ive put in the blaster and bouncer damage now...ive killed me my first bat and turtle !
@Sonyk: Thanks...yeah mine works like that except ive allowed the bat to go back to sleep at its original position if i am out of range...just as i felt it a bit messy to have him flying about still!...but if people would rather i left him flying then thats no problem either. @All: Just seen the first concept shots from our level designer and my smile is HUGE...this guy is great and by the looks of things we will have some great things to show within a month ! IMPORTANT I just wanted to run this idea by you guys before myself and 'Pudbawl' (the level designer) start work, would you rather we started on the actual game levels or the demo ones... i can still release a demo it just wont be a complete game....The advantage of not having the seperate demo means we can start on the actual game now and that means more content ! If you are ok with this please say and also which levels you would like to see in what order, i currently have the first sketches for the first castle and diamondus levels I hope your ok with this move. Last edited by Baggers; Mar 27, 2005 at 04:14 PM. Reason: Another important question. |

Cool, thought you might like a pic of some old friends...two carrot type scenery pieces, im trying to learn some modeling at the moment so this is my first real attempt at them, and critic is welcome !...Ive just upgraded DarkbasicPro, and so ive been gettin the game working again, however the good thing is that the file size of the exe's is megs less so demos should be smaller filesize from now on.
Oh heres that pic ! ![]() Done some more ! ![]() Last edited by Baggers; Apr 3, 2005 at 05:46 AM. |

The purple one is not a carrot, it's a beet.

The beet looks a bit wrong, the green part should be more in front.
Other than that, nice. ![]() I was more for making the demo first, so people can play it and tell you what they like and don't like. That way, the actual game turns out better, no?

Oh therell be beta editions, its just we would like to get right into the level design. The thing is I finally have a commited modeler by the looks of it and hes doing some great stuff so to get the most we can from it we are developing the actual game.
|
Apr 4, 2005, 09:48 AM | |
So you will be releasing beta versions of the actual game?

Yep, but its a while yet...sorry this drags out , theres just so much to code !
And model...which is why im trying to get my hands dirty on that too ! Oh good news though, the new update for DBpro allows for very accurate and fast shadow generation so hopefully i can get that incorperated on jazz....and it will look great with the model. Hare is still working on it so I hear, and im so looking foreward to the result ! |
