Boot the computer (and suddenly realise why Leetzan has dissappeared because the laptop is probably locked by a password and needs to be hacked.)
Look inside the cupboard and swap both knives on the wall for your katana.

Look carefully at katanas first. I imagine setting off some sort of alarm would be a Bad Thing.

Also, look under the carpet.

Check under the bed for monsters.

The katanas mounted on the wall were brand new and looked quite nice, though I decided it would be best to inspect the room for traps first. There was no trap doors beneath the rug, no monsters under the bed, and appeared to be no alarm systems wired into the hooks holding the blades. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Regardless, I still chose to swap my blade with one of the new ones Indiana-Jones-style.
I pulled open the cupboard, but a blast of cold air drove me to slam it shut again. I was baffled as to why Blackraptor needed a freezer but it was fully stocked with frozen meals nonetheless.
This room was still uncomfortably cold and I wasn't looking forward to hanging around much longer, but the computer on the table warranted my attention. I flipped its lid up, pushed the on button, and watched it boot to DOS. Evidently it was no pinnacle of technology.

Ouch, guys D=. I know I'm going to get something wrong. And I'm ignoring the bit where Stijn hacks my webspace.

The laptop was not plugged in, but a series of lights were along the back next to a battery symbol. Three out of four of them were lit. Despite the temptation to delete the entire drive, I thought it better to snoop around a bit first.

You're reasonably accurate with the commands, Rad. dir /s should list subdirectories recursively, and /w makes it look like explorer's list view instead of the normal full details.

I'm aware this conflicts with WR's, but it's worth another look having revealed any hidden/system files:

Keep an eye on the battery lights, and watch to see if any go out.

I'm all for doing Torkell's commands instead.

I'm also still for

dir /s /w

That would show general file sizes, and who knows if those might be illuminating.

Edit: additional command: does the laptop have a CD, floppy or other removable drive? If so, is there anything in the drive?

Random tidbit: the first part of the drive's serial number is l33t for 'BIAS' =O

As much as I aspire to be The Human Dos Prompt, I'm going to go with WR's command because it's pretty obviously something plot relevant, and I know what it does. Also, I was presuming filesizes have been appearing all along and Shuri just didn't care or find them interesting enough to look at.

I looked at the lights on the back of the computer, which revealed no change in battery life so far. I looked around the computer for any removable drives. There was a 3.5 inch floppy drive, but it was currently empty.
There were much more interesting things to mess around with at the moment, though.

I got the impression that, in the throes of obsession, I had begun to repeat myself. I shook my head, quietly assured myself that I was not going insane, and carefully thought about the reason I came here: to find a bolt and go back before I froze to death. Huh, that seemed like a while ago.
