...I had a wonderful idea last night.
Now, any of you remember the puzzle back in Part 1, with the four pillars? It turned out they corresponded to the four seasons. What if the four rooms in this puzzle each correspond to one season, and the crystals, each month? Since Autumn and Spring are considered to be shorter than other seasons, they could be the rooms with only two crystals each. That would mean the other two have to be Summer and Winter. The sphere could represent a snowball, or perhaps the sun. Yes, there are only 11 crystals divided among the rooms. But there's also the one we found at the campsite, which makes 12. And "time passes as one approaches the end" could mean that something has to be done at a certain time... I don't know, I'm not good at this sort of thing. EDIT: And I this pag is now clammed. Whoa, how did you figure that out?
Edit: All I can think of is that the room with the small needle has only one gem(because you can pick up the needle), the northwest room two gems, the southwest room three and the northeast room four.

Woah, I've been slacking off in my responding. Sorry.
I thought back to the carving on the wall. Before you move, the point is simply to face left. I knelt down and - without lifting them - pointed both crystals to the left. Nothing seemed to happen, which was both a good and bad thing: good because I wasn't injured and bad because nothing else happened. In the end, it didn't seem to be much of anything at all. Frustrated with the worthless trapped crystals, I wandered back east and south to the campsite, snacking on some of the chips as I went. They tasted like sour cream and onion. Maybe, I thought to myself, I could find help in something else I had found earlier. "Araches," I addressed the scantily-clad sorceress, who seemed rather annoyed with the cold, "do you know how to use tarot cards?" The sorceress began to open her mouth but was interrupted by Fooruman. "By the seven fruity flavors! I am a MASTER at the practices of carding! Allow me, young one, to impart to you my infinite knowledge." The wizard took the deck of cards from me and proceeded to sort out all the trump cards. I sat on the ground, watching intently. He placed the remaining cards on the ground between, handing me seven and accepting seven himself. "Now madam Fawriel, look deep into your cards, concentrate with all your energies, and tell me if you are in possession of any cards numbered 'six'." I looked at my cards. "No, no I'm not." The wizard drew another card from the deck. "Fooruman, is this Go Fish?" "Why, you question my knowledge? Insolent Cessna!" "Er.. right. I need to go look at this crack in the ground.. again." I said, slowly standing up and backing away, then running to the south. I left the deck of cards with Fooruman to ponder over. "Find anything?" Shuriken asked as I returned to the campsite. "More crystals. I presume they're trapped too." I looked at the crack under the skeleton again. It looked exactly as it did before and didn't seem to be anything useful. For some reason I felt like asking L33tz4n if I could draw her, but couldn't help but think that would feel and sound really awkward - especially so soon after those other awkward moments. And if the drawing was ugly that would be really embarassing. Maybe later I'd try asking. Inventory Code:

...Get the needly shaped crystal, go to the carving and place it on the arrow then drag it all over the carving... If nothing happens, face left and try the same again... |

I agree with Minmay. Many of your current presumptions remind me of a psychological experiment I learned about. Some pigeons were put in a cage with a device that gave them food at timed intervals. Whatever the pigeons were doing when they got food, they continued doing in hopes of getting more food (e.g. if they were turning around when the food came, they would keep spinning around).
Now, I'm not saying that you're getting impaled at timed intervals, only that you need to remain willing to test what you think you already know.

Oh boy. I feel we are running out of ideas...
Command: I would try and rotate all crystals in this room to the left, then move to the SW room. Reasoning: Notice back here that there is 4 crystals in the NE room, but only THREE in the SW room? Could this be where our 12th gem goes? |

He already has. I guess it flew by you because it wasn't bolded.

No, W, N, W, W and see what the weather's like outside

This is completely ignorant of the hint Radium gave us, but could we try swapping similar shaped objects from the inventory for a crystal?
I have been watching for a few pages, and come with many question! Quote:
Edit: I have the feeling that I'm putting in spoilers in here ;|. So PM me if I'm not supposed to do what I do and randomly blurt out stuff. Quote:
2: I want to say that this means the order we take action in doesn't matter. 3: Face. ;|? 4: Edge. I think Rad just told us to kill Faw. 5: Vertex. Does it mean that we should try and move to where the impaling spike doesn't come out ;/? If you really wanted to, one could take this a step further and say that vertex -> edge -> face -> form -> Animation. But perhaps it's just 6 in the morning.

Carry the fountain water into a crystal room (NE) and pour it on the crystals

I left the southeast room again and went north to the fountain. "Still scouting?" Araches asked when I arrived. "Yeah." I looked up at the top of the fountain. The glowing sphere on top struck me as being important. I mean, it was glowing and all. "I'm going to climb up and tap that sphere and see if anything happens." Araches raised an eyebrow. "I think it's a lightbulb." "Ah, but Elvis Prestly was a lightbulb too..." Fooruman added. "What? That doesn't even make sense." While Araches attempted to figure out Fooruman, I looked around for a good foothold and proceeded to scale the fountain. When I got to the top, I tapped the lightbulb. Absolutely nothing happened. I slid back down, though, and that was kind of fun. I didn't particularly want to admit Araches was right about the light, so I quickly snuck north and into the northeast room. I did, though, cup my hands and take some of the fountain water with me. Like the last few rooms, this one had the glowing floor and likely trapped crystals. The crystals here were in the shape of a cube, cylinder, and two triangular pyramids (you know, like D4 dice). I noted to myself that this was the most I had seen in one room yet. I poured the fountain water over the crystals. Apart from the ground now being wet and slippery, there was no change evident. Inventory Code:

Try to break the crystal in your inventory with your spear.

*wanders in curiously*
W,W.
Make sure nobody is in the doorway. Rotate the raindrop crystal so the point faces left. Move the raindrop crystal upwards (not north), not rotating it and keeping the faces constant. I doubt this'll work, but if it does it saves me the trouble of developing a more elaborate (and interesting) solution. Last edited by Violet CLM; Jul 2, 2006 at 03:41 PM. |

Eh, inductive logic can only take you so far.

Look, I didn't come here to argue. I just find the theory of impalation rather undeveloped and implausible, and thought I'd test it a little. If this doesn't work, Faw can heal himself or something, and I'll develop something else.
Anyway, it's currently one of three possible actions, and Radium doesn't have to do it if it's stupid. We could touch the sleeping bag instead. (As for what Radium wrote about worthlessness, there are such things as personification and non-objective narration.) |
