After switching ammo, show temporary text under the character showing ammo-type
I just now did a new playthrough of Jazz2 under Jazz2+, playing through the vanilla campaign, shareware demo, the secret files and holiday hare 98. What I noticed right away while playing this game with a controller in front of my TV, is how confusing it is when you cycle through your ammo-types by pressing select.
What I mean by that, is that because your character is centered in the middle of the screen, and the ammo-type symbol is located down to the right, you would have to move your eyes down right to check which ammo-type is activated after pressing select. If you already have each and every ammo-type that you have acquired memorized, I suppose it's not a big issue telling which ammo-type is going to be cycled to next by pressing select. As the sprites in Jazz2 are rather small, even though the game was intended to be played at 640x480 (although half the resolution can be selected), there's quite a distance between the player character and the ammo-type image. In my case I have to pause whatever I'm doing while switching ammo-type by pressing select, just to make sure I select the right ammo-type for the situation. One solution to this could be a line of text being displayed under the character when changing ammo-type, that tells the ammo-type's name. This text could disappear after like 2 seconds. In that way, I suppose it would be easier to focus on the action while playing Jazz2, at least when cycling through ammo-types. Having a setting in plus.ini to toggle this on or off could be a good thing as well. |

You can easily do this with a mutator.
