Man, this level rocks. It is well thought out, ammo is spread sparingly (not too sparingly, though), level flow is good. It looks pretty aswell, the tileset played no small part in that though… but neither did Falc’s level making skills. (IE: Defalc did a superb job with merging the layers) It’s quite a superb level. Oh, and it’s large, quite large.

THE END.

P.S.: I can’t believe how much I rule.[This review has been edited by KREZACK]

Just a kewl level.

The gameplay is very very nice, only the eyecandy is very confusing. You don’t know what’s real – and what not.
The ammo placement is the best. Just very good placement, in common with the eyecandy. I don’t think it is so large, it’s just quite small.
But also, as conclusion:

It rocks.

(The end, don’t reading more..)

Just download this.

This is a very nice battle level using Agama’s excellent Swamps tileset. When I saw someone using Swamps, I was in dobut, since it’s a somewhat hard set to use. But neither graphically or play-wise does this level fail. The level excels especially in ammo placement, which is near perfect. It also flows very well. The only problem is that the level is very small. It takes a long time to make a large but very good level using this tileset, so I won’t knock this level that much for it. However, this level would not be suitable for multiperson duels or the Battle Server (though I would have no complaints if the Battle Server accepted it.) All in all, and excellent level, definitely worth a look. A big download recommendation.

Ehh… I haven’t done this in a while. Oh well, here goes again. Spider Swamps is a meduim-sized battle level fit for almost anyone that enjoys battles. Sorry for the unoriginal idea, I’m tired right now. Anyway, let’s get started.

Eyecandy: “Spider Swamps” uses Agama’s newest tileset, which most of you should already know. I was quite impressed with the eyecandy used in this level. Defalcon made an effort to use as much eyecandy in different varities as he could. Layer 8, I can’t say much about. It’s perfect really, no flaws there. Layer 4 and 5 is amazing. The use of backround leaves throughout the level creates a realistic jungle affect. Not only leaves, but things like spider webs and platforms has also been used to improve the eyecandy. Use of layer 3 was great also. Again, he used much variety in this backround and foreground work. I can’t say anything negative about this portion of my review. Gameplay: Though I didn’t bother to test the level with Jazz, I already know what his capibilities would be in this level. It’s quite Jazz friendly in most areas, although some spots require some effort to get from place to place. Other than that, I noticed one other minor problem. I noticed a few areas that seemed to need springs. It’s not something to worry about, though. The spring placement was pretty good. To make the gameplay more interesting, Defalcon added many curves and twists throughout the level. I noticed the top of the level was still a bit too flat for my likings. BOO TO YOU FOR NOT LISTENING! ;P Anyway, other than that I had no problem with the gameplay. I have to say, that this level isn’t nearly as confusing as his last level, thank goodness. Weapons/Placement: What else can I say besides… almost perfect? The placement of the ammo was just perfect, in my opinion. Not everything is rectangular, again it has variety of different shapes and sizes. There wasn’t a lack, or too much ammo either. I found it was just right for that size of a level. The powerups were placed well, too. The only mistake I found was at the seeker powerup room. Though the secret was well placed (thanks to me ;P) Defalcon forgot to add the destruct event that blocks all weapons from getting through to those seekers. Other than that, the weapons/placement was A-OK. Overall, I give this level an 8. I was struggling to decide to either a 7.7 or an 8, but I know Defalcon worked hard on this, and it deserves every point. I highly recommend you download this, now. Good job, Deffie!

Spider Swamp is a nice decent level by Defalcon, it has a nice ammo placement, I’m not sure if there’s a carrot there’s able to grap, but I found one I coudln’t get.

The eyecandy is over-rused, its hard figure out the mask, it may take you up to 10 minuts figure it out.
I had to set on low detail for get the mask, and the level aren’t so great on low detail.

The bouncher powerup isen’t hard to get, but there aren’t any one way so you quickly could jump up after taking it, may be a disadvantage if somebody hunts you.

There’s a few springs there could have been placed better, and as you say, Spaz has an advantage, you should balance the level so its fair between the 2 guys.

You should include the password in your readme, makes it more easy for the reviewer get a view over your level.

Download recommed.

Nice level. BTW, Bjarni, why did you give this level a 10? Nothing deserves a 10. That’s just a gauging point.

G’day, a quick review

Size – This level isn’t too large or too small, it’s just right for an internet battle because I find some of Epics levels are just too large and take too long to complete a battle in. I like this size.

Layout – The levels layout is great, it’s not character bias. There are plenty of springs so Spaz doesn’t have an advantage and there are plently of platforms so Jazz doesn’t have a hover advantage. The ammo placement is great, there is plenty of ammo around and it’s never stored in big amounts.

Eyecandy – Great eye candy, can be confusing sometimes like where the bouncer powerup is, but most of the time fine. Good use of layers, the level doesn’t look as good in low detail but the set isn’t designed to only use layer 3 and 4 for scenery. All in all, the level looks great.

Overall – Great level, the level isn’t boring and it’s colourful. Download recomended.

Score
Eyecandy = + 3
Layout = + 5
Not player bias = + 0.2
size = + 0.5

Total – 8.7

I have to agree. “Spider Swamp” is a very neat battle level using that completely awesome, colourful Swamps tileset by Agama.

It’s not too large and not to small (120*60 tiles) and the design is very classic (open and playable, that is). Not to mention a wise event and ammo placement.

The layer work looks very good, too. I think the tileset is so impressing, that you don’t need too much eyecandy in such levels (that’s also a reason people tend to overrate here: they rate the tileset, not the level in first place).

However, the background tune (a FastTracker file of german origin! Yay!) fits great to the whole atmosphere of this level.

So i really have nothing to complain here. Actually, i wanted to give out fat 8 points here, but i will choose 7.5 points because i have the feeling all those newbies that appeared the last few months tend to overrate a bit, recently. Remember that 7.5 points (from me) is very good.
No doubt, “Spider Swamps” gets A CLEAR AND STRONG DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION! It’s a very very good battle level.

A battle level using agama’s swamp day tileset. Lets do a biased review shall we?

The music was good, although it sounded to melodious for me :P. Although it did fit in with the set. The eyecandy was extremely well done, though it was confusing and strange at times. The ammo placement was lopsided. In other words, it was to bare in some areas, and a bit overused in others. The square shapes were dull and i dont like squares and rectangles (sharp edges) so i will mercilessly lower the rating of this level by 2.0 because of the squares. j/k. But some more pieces of creativity could of been used in the weapon placement. Gameplay is ok, nice layout (although the level felt a bit to small). The choice of powerups was ok, but seekerz are hard to avoid and do two heart damage so i would reccomend more gull nerdgy crrots here instead of +1 carrots. Layers uzed well here etc. etc. Anywayz, my conclusion is that this is a well made battle level fun to play for the hole family. d/l recc.

Ok, I want to review this great level.
Gameplay: Good/Very Good. Excellent gameplay, but, some places without springs. It would be perfect if there were some springs in some other places.
Eye candy: Very Good. I loved the eye candy, everywhere in the level was something to see. I cant give a perfect for it cause there is not on every place the same amount of eye candy. On some places there could be not the same as in others, but its very good, though
Pickup placement: Good/Very Good. Ammo placement was very nice, the pickup placement too, but there could be more ammo in some places. There were a few carrots, which is good. The power-up placement was also nice.
Overall: Good/Very Good level. Almost very good, which means a 8.5
Host this: Of course
Download: A big download recommendation for this excellent level
