Another one of Epic’s classics, Xargon had nice 32×32 tiles, so I decided to make a set of one of several Xargon tilesets. The others include caves, a factory, etc. This one is the one of the forest set, which also has beach tiles. The only tiles that are missing are some of the animations of the water, but they are unneccasary since the water in JJ2 is all ready animated. As for the tops of the trees.. it’s impossible to SEE the tops of the trees in Xargon, but if you make a combination of tiles from the bush, it can look nice. Look at my example level for help.. don’t rate the example level, though, please!
Instead of Newspaz making me a palete, he just helped me this time. Determined to make my own, I spent 3 hours only to find out my only mistake was that color #1 was the transparent color and not color #0. In all, this took me about 6 or 7 hours, like most of my work takes me.
Good job! i had the xargon once, and i loved it! i have decided that this ileset deserves 8.5!
download recommedation , if you are fan of xargon!
Seems that the xargon is a game, but at least, it’s unknown for me. Well tileset looked quite fine, and this is like a conversion, I give it an 8.
Ack, this is what I was going to do for my next game conversion. Well looks like you saved me some work. I’ll review it later today..
Pretty good. Nice adaptation to Jazz2
Good Stuff:
- accurate, detailed
- works well w/Jazz2
- complete, inclusive
Bad Stuff:
- a few serious mask errors (check arrow animation, boulder scenery)
- a few minor mask errors (Try smoothing things out- you never know what might happen that could get a player stuck in a wall.)
- 16×16-looking tiles clash somewhat with Jazz2 sprites, but it’s understandable
All in all, it’s a good tileset. With those few errors fixed, it might be great.

I“ll never give a PAINT tileset something!
If you will have a very nice tileset,
So use Paint Shop Pro 7 !
Foo, this is Paint Shop Pro 6, not paint.
Cool Tileset Man !
