Description

Submited first to the science fair, and everyone wanted it, so I am releasing it to the public. Please do not rate the levels themselves, rate the concept of fog. I show you how to make fog in the readme, so you might want to read it. I didn’t make the levels to have any gamplay, I just made them to show off the fog.So, tell me whatcha think!`N0

You arn’t supost to rate the level, you are supost to rate the fog and how it works and how well I showed you how to use fog. Not the level.

For those who are asking where I found this, I was playing with JCS.ini settings. I let the limit for light be larger than normal, and I got a bright light. I figured out that a steady light is set at 100, so if the light was brighter, it would leave a hole. I then replaced my edited JCS.ini with a normal JCS.ini and looked at the properties of the set light event, and red was set to -1. The fog still worked, so I saved it then started playing with pultz lights and flicker lights in fog. I made the large level to test the fogs capabalitys, and then the science fair started.

I don’t feel this is worth rating, but it is VERY cool. I like it. ;) Unfortunately, Lighting doesn’t work for me anymore on my computer, so I won’t be able to see it.

But I can see it on Hugela’s PC. And it does look Spiffy. ;D

Well, hearing this project first in the JCF, I must say I was surprised, but I didn’t expect anything near as good as this. N0 has demonstrated what the fog can do in multiple ways. He has shown us what things you can do with fog (a lot of them where very spiffy btw) and he shown it in a nice way. One of my favorite things were the tunnels, and the “Beam me up scotty”(lol) part, since it looked similar to a tornado, which would be interesting in some levels. N0 has shown us what different things Fog can do if used properly, and by seeing his demonstration I am tempted to put in fog into some of my levels. The purpose of this project has definately been acheived, and well. In Conclusion, Good Job, though I’m going to give it N/A for now.

WOWOWOW! I have never seen anything like this ever before. I have seen people trying to make fog by inserting fog images into their tilesets which only allows them to use fog in one tileset. This turns it all around. Any level with ANY tileset can use fog now. I love this new discovery. Specially the Beam-up effect. That’s so perfectly designed. If I ever decide to make another single player pack I won’t forget about this!

Wow. Not knowing quite what to expect, I must say that this is one of the neatest things I’ve seen to date. The effect itself is very cool and versatile, and the uses of it were well documented. It takes a little work to do properly and giving the example levels a look in JCS is recommended. Still, I expect this to show up in new and creative ways in some levels before long.

As a side note, a little experimenting I did showed that using Steady/Pulze Light events on every other square seemed to work just as well as having solid walls of them, with negligible side-effects at worst.

Final word: Neat stuff. Go use it.

Cool. :)
Pretty unique stuff!

By the way, fog/light only works if you disable 2D hardware acceleration.

Well, I already knew that. Congratz though, since you seemed to figure it out on your own as well. I personally never use it as fog, but instead ‘fire’ and change the red all the way to five.
