Uh, my first level I ever made… sorry if it’s not at too high a standard but I’m pretty new to level designing. o.o;

Heating up is a very simply level by Snotticus. There are no kind of story line, quests, or special adds to the level. It’s just a common “find the exit” level type.

Poor. Too much of the level is left open with only the background layers to fill it up. The athour didn’t centrainly think very creative either, all eyecandy who are in the level are just copyed and pastered from the tileset.

If you can find a word descriping both boring and and time waste, that’s it for the gameplay. It’s just “folow the road”, pick off enemies underway and pick up gold coins. There’s really no suprise in the level, no challenge. The only challenge is the end boss who appear to be bissly fighting you in a very narrow room. Folowed by a “SMOKIN’ =D” (?), you’ll win the level with ease.

Awful. The chance of getting hurt is upon the spikes, the enemies are simply too foolish placed to harm you. The food and goodies are also very easy to pickup underway, and dosen’t force you to explore the area for collect it all. The gold coin people missed is located at position 92,13, which is inside a wall covered by layer 3 mask, nearly impossible to find without any hints.

Below average. You need to practice more with JCS. Download some single player levels with the mark tip and watch how they set up their levels with eyecandy and enemies. You should also try put more originality into the level, instead of the common find exit.

Download not recommed.

New concepts in level design… gameplay has never been this flat!
This level essentially could be plotted out with a program that creates filler material and changes directions when told to: Right, down, left, down. Sure, while travelling the lengthy horizontal parts (which you can easily skip over as Jazz – this level is so incredibly biased) you have to jump, but if you pay attention, you notice the design is really just “move forwards”. This level would not be misplaced in a Mario game. As for the little nuances in the flat paths, they mainly consist of the author taking whatever weird tile structures are prebuilt in Inferno and putting them into the level.
What’s good? There are a few interesting parts like the coins/1up at the spikes, and (considering the lack of fastfire) the blaster powerup isn’t the worst idea.
Pros: Not too much. Read the last paragraph.
Cons: Design way too boring.

Zooooooom… ouch.
With a design so strange, what can the gameplay be like? Surprisingly, not too bad. The flow is really annoying, due to the constant idea that “a small cliff is a good obstacle”, but for the most part, it’s decent. Bilsy, of course, has an awful arena, but I suppose we’re used to this by now. ….and I can’t think of anything more to say.
Pros: Not too bad.
Cons: Not too good. Bilsy is bad.

Yum! Yay! Die!
Getting steadily better here, placement is really rather good indeed. There aren’t nearly enough weapons, but enemies seem placed logically throughout the level, likely to cause damage. There’s an ingenious bit at the top of the level where you can find bats, which aren’t noticable unless you’re skipping through the level as Jazz, at which point they swoop down and hurt you. Brilliance. The ravens are always good, and the land stuff does its job as well as anything with such limited intelligence can.
In the style of the original SP levels, goodies are placed generously in this level, available for just a little extra effort. There are a few bomb crates, the extra life needs extra work… all nice, though maybe a little too easy. My main complaint is the trigger crate, which is depressingly pointless.
Pros: All fairly good.
Cons: Not enough ammo, trigger crate is bleh.
Rating: 6.5

I can see the sky from here! Isn’t Kansas wonderful?
One of the more disappointing parts of this level is the eyecandy. Layer 4 consists mainly of ordinary walls (and a few trees), with far too many open spaces. This would be fine, but the open spaces are just that – open – no interesting filler stuff. Maybe a little more cave would be good… but really, the level seems far too empty. And imagine what it would be like with low detail…
As for the other layers, they’re extremely bleh. The author copies (maybe literally) the original graphics from Inferno for this level, leaving a primarily empty background. The lighting even causes the walls to partially blend in with the background, making this a very annoying/boring level to look at, on the whole.
Pros: No tile bugs that I noticed.
Cons: Extremely bleh.

What’s new, and should you care?
Very little is new. I can not think of a single thing in this level I have not seen before, to tell the truth. …wait, the bats. Ok, the bats are new. But the rest of the level is extremely hum drum and blah and old and that sort of thing.
Once you’ve played this level once, you have little reason to ever want to play it again. The annoying design, mediocre eyecandy and less-than-amazing gameplay combine to create an unexperience which should remain unrepeated. You may, in fact, give up before finishing the level. It’s just that dull.
Pros: The bats are new!
Cons: Boring.
Rating: 3.0

New joy wait upon you; here our play has ending.
Here we are in the summing up, and I can think of little to say I have not already said. This level is good for a first level, but in no way deserving of such ratings as an 8.5 or 7.7. In short, this level is a wonderful representation of the poor quality we are forced to put up with these days, but it’s not wonderful in too many other ways.
Pros: The placement! The placement is good!
Cons: So… dull… must keep… eyes open…..

Heating Up: The Official Review of Official Reviwer of Official Things, Levels and stupid Programs and things like that blah blah blah

Not good, not bad. It is just the standard layout for a Inferno level you need. All trees, spikes etcetera are used. No background eyecandy, though.

This is nice. You have a little light, allowing you to see a little bit (duh). This makes it harder, more fun. There is only one Signpoint, no problem, because that will make it harder too. Perhaps it’s too linear, but there are secrets.

Fun! Not that fun if you want to play this level over and over but just the fun to download it. And that’s enough.

Gweat, but not all details. There are only Ravens and Demons (and a boss) what makes it a bit boring. But they’re always nice placed. Sadly, no ammo a less food is used.

Big. But many parts aren’t used. It’s just filled in the normal 256×64 sizzzzee.ee..zzzz. Can bigger.

Not bad. The normal music used for Inferno. All right.

A allright level, fun and well playing. Download reccommendendationisopmendationthingylike.

Basic!!! The eyecandy is not really bad but also not good there where some tilebugs.

Enemy placement:
Good!!! there are skeletons,ravens and more. There are no many enemy`s but enough to keep the level fun.

Item placement:
Good!!! There was ammo,gems and food.
There where coins for a shop and powerups and some extra life`s.

Fine!!! the level is not really long but not to short. The level is not really hard but not to easy. There are a lot of secrets.

This is really great for a first level.
my first levels sucks but this is good.

NNNIIICCCEEE. This is a great first lvl, unlike many others.

Eyecandy: Nothing bad here… bit usual, not really any bugs which is really rare with this tileset. it seems copyed the background does, but it is quite hard to get ideas for backgrounds sometimes. This tileset was used really well.

Gameplay: Well i have to say that this lvl is really fun but really short, i have to give an 8 for the fun-factor seeing as there isnt too much to do, but i have to say that there is nothing annoying. nice effects for the lvl. i remember that it wasnt too easy but not to hard. i nearly died but i still had 2 hearts. there isnt too much of a good arena, actually that is what seems to be one of the hardest things in the lvl i have to say that is good.

Pickups: Well this isnt bad, but it is good, not too good but good. i have to admit that the pickups could be better but still the lvl is great and they are greatly placed how they are :)

HEY! This is ya first level? You are really talented I think
That’s great for ya first
Here’s my review :D

The gameplay consists of shooting enemies and collecting some goodies and find the endboss. That’s not really new, but it made fun to play. I wasn’t in the bonus room because I didn’t find 20 coins ;)
At the end I came to the endboss. A bilsy O_o
That’s the hardest boss ever created for Jazz Creation Station and so I died as I tried to kill him :-)
Then I tried again and found out, that his flying shoots don’t hit you if you buttstomp ;-P and so I bet him =P.
Gameplay was not really new, but I had fun and the events were good used.
PROS: Makes fun, not too easy, not to small
CONS: Hmm….a bit boring because there’s nothing new.
Rating: 7.5

The tileset the author used was the inferno one from epic. The tileset was used good, background and foreground looks like in the original inferno level from cliff bleszinski. The eyecandy was not amazing, but ok.
PROS: no tilebugs
CONS: not really interesting eyecandy
Rating: 7.0

Hm….there was some freezer ammo and a blaster powerup at the end. Not really interesting but ok. I also remember items, like gems, food and carrots. The enemys the author used all fit with the tileset and were good placed. Nothing more to say I think ;-)
PROS: Good item/enemy placement
CONS: ammo isn’t too much interesting

Hmm…..Maybe I’ll replay this sometimes, but not often. That’s because the fun factor lacks some time. And that’s because the level isn’t original.

OVERALL (not an average):
Overall this is great for ya first level, snotticus! It isn’t really original, but it is really hard to make an original level because there are so much levels now and there aren’t too much things that you can do with jcs that weren’t there before.
CONS: not really original ;-(

So because you are new and I am nice today I will change the rating into 8.5 ;-)

Time for a good review for a good level!

In the first time i see this, i think, 8.7 is to high, but when i play it in JJ2 i had only one thing to say : WOW!
This level has good eyecandy and good tileset use.
Good carrots place.
but maybe next time a bit more ammo.
But, this is long and fun to play.

Good gameplay, funny to play and it has a good placement!
maybe next time a little bit more ammo and it gets a higher rating

Hey! Pretty good for your FIRST lvl!

Great! Its an nice lvl, the background is good, the music is good, but what it’s making good for the eyecandy, is that it’s your first lvl you made!
This could be an 8.0!

Well, the disign was great, what I told you above this colum! The gameplay is also good, but on a place,I get stuck in the wall!And the chamber of the endboss could 5 tile’s bigger, becouse you can’t run for your life(HELP!) for the fireballs of the endboss!
This all means a 7.7!

I think the same as PHT. Enemy’s are placed good, but the weapons are not interesting! It’s only freezer ammo and on the end powerups for the freezergun and the blastergun. But the Items,I mean the food and things, where good placed!
Well, it could be better, an 7.5!

Well, it’s not so original, to bad for you.

Well, if I look to the numbers, I will say an…7.7!! GREAT FOR YOUR FIRST LVL!
