11-Level Battle Pack
The theme of this battle pack was to get rid of some of the elements of battle that could become very biased towards players (not necessarily true, of course). I’d like to thank all who helped out with this pack, especially those whose struggled with my restrictions and scheduling. ;) I had fun with it and hope we can develop other projects in the future (no pun intended).-Syntax
11 people, 11 great levels. No warps, no power-ups, no shields and so on (as seen on TV).
"Gameplay Theory" introduces a new way of level making to us. The ZIP file includes 11 very good JJ2 maps made by a selection of the best JCS professionells you can find in the community. "Composition" describes it well. I’ve never seen such a powerful team before.
I first thought about giving a rating for each level here but somehow i felt that wouldnt be a good idea.
Well, each of the levels has a very own style as you can imagine. One has better eyecandy, the other has a better design and its great how you can compare the different ways each author used to make his level "special".
The weapon placement is great in all levels and the concept of not putting power-ups, warps etc. really pays off. All rabbits are fair game.
On a side note, Bobby’s "Psych" level uses the un-released "Medivo" J2 music by Alexander Brandon, which is included in the ZIP file.
Okay, now that we’ve seen the "Future of leveldesign" its time to announce my personal future of ratings. To keep it short, i will use X.5 ratings from now on :-) Not X.2 or X.5 though. I will also re-rate some levels.
While most of the levels in this pack would get a 7 from me (some are 8 tho’), i like the concept of the whole thing very much, which increases my rating. But somehow, i’m still undecided between 8 and 9.
However, regarding the future of hosting Jazz2 servers, i am very very convinced that "Gameplay Theory" will be one of the most hosted (gr? sp?) packs in J2 history. It’s pure fun and everyone, really EVERYONE should DOWNLOAD this superb compilation IMMEDIATELY! A MUST DOWNLOAD!
No members of this group will be allowed to rate this.
(use n/a ratings for comments)
Very Very Pleasing. I was looking
foward to this from that ad.
“GT” is a very good battle pack and I like it. I do not know what to rate this and I can’t decide so….
N/A For now.
Might I say that these levels are very L33T. Except mine. Get downloading, fools! ;-) Too lazy to write a complete review.
What you can say about this battle pack? It’s awesome. I liked the using of those unused tilesets. For example Daang and Psych. Incredible.
To Syntax: I missed a great opportunity… And I said that I’m quitting the level making! I’m fool :).[This review has been edited by Blade]
Great levels yes…but oh oh oh how great, i could have guessed who were gonna be in GT…
A very good pack, but I shouldn’t rate it. Hope you have as much fun playing it, as we had making it.
You actaully like my Psych level? Wow. I thought it was garbage compared to the others.
A cool pack.
Very good (:
I was waiting to play these through online before I passed any judgement (:
Great, great great (:
Although I am a fan of strategically placed powerup(s) (not many, mind you) to create conflict..this remains fabulous. (:
I do like iCeD’s beach level a lot..and Bobby, your Psych level was good also (:
All in all, great pack.
I hereby command you all to download this pack immediately. ;p
OK.. finished my extended.. review.. erm.. well, I’ve seen the levels now. Good job guys.
Good job, all! This is a really good level pack. Never seen this style before, but i like it. A Freestyle lvl pack :). All the levels are fabolous, not one especially. Great Great Great!
Download this all!
MWAHAHAHHAHA!!! I’M ALIIIVE!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Thought you got rid of me huh? ;)
Hehe, at a friends house and such, I’m very happy in the way this turned out And I hope that FOL WILL LIVE FOREVER!!!!! YEAH!!!!!
Wb disguise. :)
Don’t read this review, download it now! :)
Stunts, shut your face. You drat. I don’t like levels only because they are created by famous jazzers. I just like all levels which are original. And this pack is original. I even didn’t read the readme file and “other authors” stuff. I just liked the levs, who are at last freestyled (is that a verb? I dunno). And “Guess friends’ levels are worth much more to u than other people levels” is wrong again. I didn’t saw most ppl from the list ever. So. Shaddap.
This pack RockZzZz…
Only i dont like lvl’s whithout PU’s.
The Eyecandy is fine, and the placement of the weapons are all OK. This lvl’s are yust awesome…i yust cant give more then 8 because my problem and the warps but it are lvl’s of “Future of Leveldesign” the name say’s it. No Warp, no PU…ETC.
I must say that most of the levels were very good. Some on the other hand, were average. Although you seemed to pick mostly underused tilesets which is very good. Eyecandy is pretty good in most levels, I would have changed a few things around, but this pack is very good. Not too big, not to small. Download? What do you think!
A very good level pack made by a few of the most talented level builders out there. These level realy rux0r. I dont realy have much to ad. Get this now, or….Slap:P
The Gods must be crazy or did I hear that right: no powerups? Apparently.
This is a collection of 11 levels by 11 people, which all contain only basic ammo. However, this does not at all damage the amazing gameplay that this pack provides. All of these levels are destined to become classics (at least I hope.) Eyecandy was fantastic. Gameplay was fantastic. Everything was fantastic. Some of the levels weren’t as good as the others, but they were all quite good. An outstanding work that deserves the download recommendation it gets from me. A classic, and a must-download for sure. This pack will be unforgettable.
Eat your lima beans, Johnny.
