Okay… well, for those of you who don\\\\\\\‘t know, this is a conversion from an old game. So, to avoid confusion like there was with my Jetpack conversion, I\\\\\\\‘d like to say that I did not draw these tilesets. They are converted from an old game, much like JJ1 tilesets are converted. These will be reuploaded tomorrow with example levels by Scizor CT and FireSworD included. See the readme file for the rest of the stuff. And it\\\\\\\‘s not one of those readme files that just talk about how the levels included with them are the greatest and that they are really cool and that they made them alone without any help from anyone whatsoever. It\\\\\\\‘s a quality semi-decent readme file. Or something. Enjoy.

Edit #1: All the tilesets have been updated in some way or another, and will now appear in your list as \\\\\\\‘Keen 4 Grasslands 2\\\\\\\’ and so on. I reccomend not deleting the original files, because if somebody creates a level with the original tilesets because they didn\\\\\\\‘t download the updated ones, you won\\\\\\\‘t have those other tilesets, and there would be no place to get them since I reuploaded this, after all. Or something. Biggest run-on sentence. Ever. There are now two example levels and two music files included. If you don\\\\\\\‘t download this for the tilesets, download it for the levels. They\\\\\\\‘re awesome. One is a quality battle level by FS that Disguise got 60 roasts in online yesterday, and another is a pixel perfect conversion of Miragia by SCT. Thanks to FQuist for teaching me how to make…
Line breaks! =D
Edit #2: Fixed the example level, because I made a mistake on something. (not FS\\\‘s fault =P)
Edit #3: Ok, since I don\‘t want to bother reuploading this again, I\‘ve uploaded Snooz\‘s example level to my non-existant webpage where I upload stuff to. <— Enjoy.
Edit #4: Ugh, what\‘s with this darn backslashes that get put into my upload information all the time? Now there are lots and lots of them and it\‘s hard to read >(. Hopefully this will be fixed in J2Ov2… cough
Edit #5 : Reuploaded. See the readme file included in the zip for more information. This update is not as big as most, and you don\‘t really need it unless you\‘re planning to use palette events such as poles and snow.

Cool, i begin reviewing:

Background- ( the most are taken from orriginal JJ2)

This is a conversion of an old game, so the graphics are not realy nice
I played Keen4 so much before and
i don’t know where to see the standard gallactic alphabet, so thanks for making it in one of the tilesets,

In that story, i forgot to say the rating: a 7,5:-}

Good work for a conversion:-}[This review has been edited by niek]

Niek: There are poles in this tileset (V-Poles, H-Poles, Diamondus Poles, Carrotus Poles… basically all the poles). The backgrounds were taken from Commander Keen 4, not JJ2. The textured background is heavilly edited and was orginally from my Earthworm World tileset.

Sonictth: The music used in the example levels is the exact same music used in Keen 4. You’re not allowed to take off or give points for anything example level rated, anyway.[This review has been edited by labratkid]

I nice conversion from labratkid!

Eyecandy tiles

nice tiles, the food and the water that is hanging and some others, the ground is masked to. 3D tiles anyway.
the eyecandy is good not bad at all.

eyecandy, the whole tileset is eyecandy this time. i played the
level and its really the same
labratkid! :D

Its very good this has’t made before.
so its originally. i hope labratkid or violet clm
or others make a keen 4 episode :P
anyway its good!

Animating tiles

Not bad some fire’s and the food(s) and
that hanging water thingy U.U
the sharp thing that go’s out of the
wall is good for hurting!
anyway its good.

Overall: Good, its originally and its fun to make.

Rating: 8.2 =p

First I must say that I don`t like Commander Keen Games because the Graphics are ugly and bad and so..
But this Conversion is really Good.
There are much tilesets and they are even like labratkid`s jetpack conversion good for newcomers on level Editing. Even they are Large and has got paralaxin Background Sky they got an adittional plus.

But I think it would be better if some Fixes of the Tiles were made because some of them looks really bad (In graphically I Mean) But, yes, the bad looking tiles aren`t your work so the conversion is just nice.

Another Nice thing it would be,
If Making conversions of tilesets of other Games, It`s not wrong if ya add a Download link for that Game/Demo/shareware or so…

Overall The Conversions are Good, 1.23, Nice Example Levels, but Boring and not matching Music! I Give that a 6.7. Add Better music…
You can find better[This review has been edited by sonictth]

I suppose I’m a bit overdue with reviewing this. Oh well. Here’s hoping this doesn’t end up being TOO biased…

Unlike most, if not all, other conversions, this particular one consists of five (plus one copy with a minor color edit, which was probably unnecessary anyway) different tilesets, each taken from one of the many different locales in Commander Keen 4: Secret of the Oracle. Despite being released in 1991, it is still a fantastic game with great and highly creative art.

Nearly every tile from the original game is included, seeing as how this was created from a rip of the official tileset. Additions such as hooks, vines, poles, destructable blocks (albeit ripped from official sets), and a textured background are also present. Pole, Pinball, and snow events aren’t recommended because they tend to look bad.

Not every piece of eyecandy could be added into every set due to JJ2’s somewhat restrictive tileset size, but everything that should be in each set is. The animations are all present and accounted for, as are all of the game’s various collectable items. Triggers can easily be manipulated with the doors, keygems, and switches. In some sets that had a little extra room, the full SGA was included along with a translation. I can only imagine what sort of messages some of you people out there would concoct.

Masking is smooth. Very smooth. I could not intentionally get myself stuck, and since every set uses the same masking for its solid parts, they are all quite well done in this regard.

A couple of the tunes from CK4 were also included (“Eat Your Veggies” and “Welcome to Another Kick in the Pants in Good Old Hillville”, for the inquiring minds), which certainly doesn’t hurt anything. I’d converted another one of the songs, but he refused to include it because it wasn’t used in an example level. The fiend.

Overall, I really cannot find much fault with this. Each locale has been pieced together flawlessly to look exactly like the original, along with all of the minor embellishments that made the Keen series what it is. My only real complaint is the fact that a full version with every set together would have to be TSF-only, but that merely further testifies to the quality of the source game. There’re also a couple things I’ve noticed during the typing of this that were left out, but they’re minor enough that they don’t affect the score, and I can bug him about it later anyway.

It’s a bit hard to decide what to give this, considering my bias towards the series and my constant involvement in the creation of this conversion (read as: slave-driving perfectionism and unforgiving criticism), so I’m going to semi-arbitrarily give this an 8.5.

Nice work. Now if your name is Labratkid, stop reading this and go ask me what you left out.[This review has been edited by Scizor CT][This review has been edited by Scizor CT]

I noticed some of the tiles are not in there, such as the inside of the cavwe houses. You did do two seperate tileset for the inside of the cave, and the outside. Plus, when I played commander keen 4, i found a green slime pool in the 2nd pyrimid.

Appart from that, everything is OK.

I thought this was a really good conversion.
But you have to include the lift tiles for it to move up/down and left and right with animation in all the tile sets, plz.

Also I’ve been level converting and the worm statue acid pools and goblet of fire need to be in the grasslands tileset.
Hope u change the tilesets slightly so they have the extra stuff in them, Plz and thank-you.
And if you have spare time do you reckon you could make the shadowlands tile set (outdoor map).
