I like this level very much, duelled in here (won ;D) and the gameplay is good.

Eyecandy: obviously it has been made with the most default tileset, however its definately worth looking at – the level has most certainly got enough variance of the tileset within it that makes “castle” bareable to look on once again.

Gameplay: this is the best factor of the level, as the gameplay has been tweaked and tweaked for great flow and tactics. The way the whole level is fought upon (in a 1:1 or anything else) with an even amount of time between each section – as the goodies are cleverly spaced out, and there are a lot of heights, corners and dykes. The power ups and ammo have been chosen very wisely – as there are seekers, but no seeker powerup, so clearly you can use this easy and cheap weapon, but it wont do 2 hearts of damage; where as bouncers and the toaster each have a power up – making a lot of bouncers verses flamer action apparent on this level. Finally electro blaster ammo has been put into this level and there are many situations where it can be used very effectively.

To sum up this level: it is very cleverly made – it has a strategic structure, items are placed in great locations and the right ammo and power ups are used; as well as the level being pretty good on eyecandy – i couldn’t see a single tilebug, and the non sprite-layers have been used most effectively to aid the eyecandy. All in all, a fantastic level for the default castle tileset. Keep it up Wrath!

Yet another splendid battle-level. This was, if I remember it correct, the first level that I saw from Wrath. For first when I looked at the level, it seemed to be just any average battle-level so far, but investigating it further I began liking the level more and more.

For first about the layout itself…The dead ends which I usually dislike if they aren’t really fitting the layout. This time they were really allright and making the level more tactical. Still the rest of the layout was fantastic. It’s hard to actually explain why I like the layout so much, but it probably might be that everything is well balanced. There are enough of close and open rooms. I also liked that there were two warps leading to the northeast of the level.

The eyecandy is good enough and doesn’t have to be too superior because the current one with bg-wall tiles and so on already fits to the layout and that the level ain’t so big. At least it doesn’t confuse.

There are also two +1-carrots which is just a good choice when thinking of the level size and type. They are both placed into very small dead but long dead ends where the opponent may camp for a period of time. It can be possibly breaken with electro-blasters anyway, which is good. As powerups there were Toaster and Bouncer. The most usual one. There was a copter around the middle of the level, making it able to either reach the bouncy-PU, collect some separated bouncers from the top or go to the upper level in northeast where you can go also via the warp in bottom-middle. Rf can be also used to climb up to the 2nd highest level as well but I doubt no one except Bobby(if even he) can make it up the wall in the very northeast, which wouldn’t be even that useful. ;p

However, this level didn’t have a real original concept, but the layout was a great one which brought some feeling of a decent old level, with still not too non-solid layout. Must say I prefer this far more than Battle1 for example. So far it is worth of an 8 even, please download and host sometimes when Wrath isn’t doing that himself.

I feel very tired.

EYECANDY: 16/20

Good eyecandy in the level if I remember well. The tileset used is a bit boring and music (which won’t apply to you EYECANDY rating) is basic but good work.

GAMEPLAY: 15/20

A fair amount of warps and stuff. There is a copter in there somewhere which is different.

AMMO AND CARROTS: 15/20

Great ammo placement in a few areas but I think you may have exeeded the limit of carrots. I would say a maximum of 1 or possibly 2 carrots in a medium sized level and I think you have used 3.

SIZE: 17/20

I like medium sized levels because you don’t lose your enemy. One concern is that some areas have not a lot of space to move in.

OBSTACLES: 18/20

There are many falling obstacles in the level…..

BONUSSES AND SUBTRACTIONS:

Basic music -2 points
Good level out of basic tileset +7 points.

Total Bonus/Loss: 5 points
Tatal Points: 86/100
Rating: 8.5
