This is my first tileset which I’ve build on my own. This tileset is about the old Wild West. This also includes a little example level called Carrotown.
If this is your first tileset then i must say it is very well done, the tileset uses the wild west theme and some tiles from the jungle tileset.
It has enough variation and eyecandy and unfortunatly some minor masking bugs that are really annoying (the slopes and the not so flat land).
The example level however does not show the full potential the tileset has and is bad for a level that shows a tileset.
I didnt read the readme but its prolly good LOL.
The name of the level isnt original either but this is the first wild west tileset I have so I like it. A download recommendation from me (although I advise everyone to look at the tileset and not at the example level).
I almost agree with BlackDeath.
Some bad tiles etc.
~JøJø aka ÍpÐøpé
I fully agree with BlackDeath.
It’s a good first self made tileset (my first really sucked).
Good example level it show jou how jou can use this tileset
Very nice for a Firsttileset
Now I can really notice being a j2o addict, people actually are agreeing with me!
And I though miracles didnt happen anymore !
Terribul masks is all I can say. but theres more i’m just lazy to write, see! not even useing caps and mis-speeling words 2..[This review has been edited by Nitro]
I know it’s hard to make a good tileset but hey! It’s what I think.
And you don’t have to go over the moon about it.
This is for your reviews! not for chat, nitro and fire!
Then y are u saying something then?
All of the above non-saying people. Take it to jcf or something, dont start an arguement or a discussion here.
I will delete this review as soon as everyone here stops this blabla above. I recommend Stunts, Ipdope, Nitro and F!re do the same.
I like the idea, but i think that you could of put in a bit more effort into the tileset. I think most of it is mainly desert. The tiles were well choson, but the way you made them didn’t make a very good impression on me. Ill give this a 6 just becuase its a pretty good idea and the tiles were well choson.
Indeed, “Wild West” is a pretty good new tileset. It contains 200 tiles showing scenes and scenery from the “Wild West” (18th/19th century USA, somewhere in the desert, for those of you who didnt know, not to forget 20th century b-movies :-).
There are some basic platform structures, poles, lots of signs (saloon, store, bank and the like), a cactus, clouds for the background layers and some (supposedly ripped) hotel structures. Plus some more ripped tiles from the Jungle and Inferno tileset (not a problem!). Maybe the masking could have been a bit improved, as some others said, but honestly, i have seen worse tileset masks!
The author also included a small example SP level, thats gives a good overview whats possible with his tileset. Very nice!
To conclude my boring little review, i’d like to give A DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATiON for this tileset. It’s quite cool and all you talented level authors will have a lot of fun with it! Seven points because i’m in my one-day-holiday mood (post your levels on holidays! :-).
Very nice tileset and level. There are plenty of interesting things to do with the nice selection of tiles in the set, and the example single player level shows this off. IMO, however, the masks in this tileset really weren’t very good and could have been better had the author spent more time on them. There are also a few ripped tiles here and there, as Aiko mentioned, but it’s really not a huge deal.
Oh well, this should definitely be downloaded by tileset fans. 7 points from me.
This set is very kuel.He said he made it with paint,If that is true he is very talented with it.well anyway cool set.Indain tepees an Indian Spaz.Western stores and houses, alomost forgot about the cowboy jazz.;)It has good eye candy and a good bakground. However i must admit it would not hurt to make a nighttime background because the day time back ground is somtimes hard on the eyes.Another bug I found with this set is when you go up hill you have to just cuz if u don’t your char will just push at the sand. This reminds me of a Snes game i once played called Bubsy. The western town in that game looks much like this set.Overall this set was good for a first,If he would work out the bugs in it i think it would be a really good one.
eye candy:ok(4 points)
Game play:Good but for a few bugs.(another 4 points)
This tileset was not average but it was not the best either.I will give it a 7.2.-Zieg aka Dark Fire
A pretty good tileset. I sticks to one theme, looks ok, and is new. But i found a few smallish problems-
1.you can get stuck in the sand wall
2.the fireplace moves (a easy mistake)
3. what in the world is that red smokeish stuff from inferno doing here???
But it is nice. you get a 6.7
I’d say this is a good tileset. Especially since this is your first one.(I didn’t even expect first tilesets to look THiS good)It’s set in the right thene and doesn’t go off of it(If you know what i mean). I also like the example level.
I give this an 8.5 and a download recommendation.
This really sux. How bad. Try again Sam.
Keep making levels. The more experience the better the levels.
The tileset is good for the first one .But in next TIlesets YOu can make them more detailed.I think u made it in paint .SO it must be hard to make it download some other prog (psp)
But the idea of a western set is original also the indians and the saloons .
All in one it is a good lvl for the first set.. hehe
Eat your lima beans, Johnny.
