This time I decided to make a much longer single player level than my previous ones. Like last time I added difficulty. This level has a boss at the end and I also tried to make it harder than normal. Also it’s a bit different from my previous level. Paths split up several times and there are different goodies for Jazz and Spaz. Jazz and Spaz have a different starting position and the level has quite a few secrets but you’ll have to find them. Hope you’ll enjoy it.
Also review or rate the level or at least mention the glitches.
EDIT: I tried to add some eyecandy and fixed the glitches and other problems that were mentioned.
Lord of the Diamonds is cool, 9/10. In my version I changed tileset to Diamondus Garden and used Witch instead of Uterus as a boss. By the way, some goodies are replaced with witch magic that i can avoid.
There haven’t been many uploads lately, so I decided to check one out.
So let’s check out this map, shall we?
Pretty decent eye candy, has been used a lot. The leaves in the foreground layer is kind of annoying. You won’t be able to spot a flying bee who’s coming to you. Also, the leaves go horizontal, which looks unrealistic compared to the background. Because it doesn’t look stormy at all…
(I also would like to point out that you copied most of the levels eye candy from the single player of JJ2, which is pretty bad and uninspired.)
I also found a lot of tile bugs playing through, which isn’t that kind of a big deal, but try to avoid them.
The two different start positions was a good idea. But when I started as Spaz, the chaos overwhelmed me. Starting as Spaz gives you immediately two road opportunities to go, which is pretty confusing.
Further on it isn’t that bad, you pretty much have to pick 1 of 2 roads which are given.
I also found some random doorways which were empty (e.g. at 87,43 and 138,21)
Noticed a lot of food, and a lot is a lot, food leads towards a sugar rush, which is pretty powerful. Less food increases the difficulty.
There are also a lot of hidden paths to gain ammo, coins, gems and extra lives. They are all scattered over the map, but hard to find, try to make them more visible.
Most of them are well placed, but it’s kind of annoying when you died, and spawn in the middle of 2 enemies. (Of course there is blink time, but you might not have enough time to kill them)
There are way too many enemies in the boss fight in a crampy area, pretty hard.
Not the best choice, but it fits the map quite well.
Good decent level, with a lot of secrets.

Thanks for the review Bloody_Body. I remember spending quite a lot of time with this level. It took quite long, since I only had time every day after school. I believe I was trying to make a really big and long level with a lot of secrets splitting paths to add to the replay value. I wasn’t too good with the eye candy when making it, but after Loon’s review I added some to make the tileset a little less boring also repairing the mentioned bugs and flaws.
Anyway, glad you liked it. Maybe I’ll make some new levels in the future. I just haven’t had time since finishing secondary school.
WOW! This level is enormous! I don’t remember if I had ever seen such a huge level. It reminded me the Hermitage museum of St.Petersburg, where you’ll never explore the entire area whithin a single visit. This goes for this level as well. You have to play again and again to make sure there is no place you still hadn’t been to. There are splitting paths, so you have to choose where to go, there are plenty of secrets! Someone may say that such a gameplay is too boring and repetitive, but as for me that’s a good idea. I also liked the way you used the 5th layer, the use of Tuf Turtles, different starting positions for Jazz and Spaz and cunningly-hidden warps .
However, while proceeding this level, I had chosen to change the music to the original tune of Diamondus and I also changed the tileset to “Diamondus Storm” by Cansin13. This way it looks newer and matches to the falling leaves, to the stormy weather.
Seems, like you’re really advanced level-maker! I really appreciate levels like this one.
I have to say, that this is by far your best work. It was a really long level and not as easy as your previous ones (at least in hard difficulty). Also even if their part wasn’t too long Jazz and Spaz had a different starting position. Also I noticed several places where paths split up so I had to play the level a few times to see everything which added a bit to the replay value. Enemies were well placed and they also fitted in the level. I was quite surprised that the coin warp was at around 20% of the level but whatever, this wasn’t really about the coins. I found a lot of secrets (though I think there were only 1 or 2 warp secrets. Ammo choice was quite good too. They really helped in some situations and of course at the boss fight. I think the spiky part was quite a good idea where you had to explore 4 paths to get the trigger crate to move on. Also there were places which you could only access with Jazz or Spaz. Eye candy was good enough to make you satisfied. The exoticus track went quite well with the level though i think the original is better. I think i only found 3 power ups which is actually enough for this level. I think there were enough carrots and save points for the level though i sometimes felt that the carrots were placed inappropriately that is when i had full health i kept running into health and when i needed it I found some rarer (though this may differ from player to player). Also I felt you put too many enemies in the boss arena. It was quite a small place which made the fight a bit hard. But that’s all, and what’s more I didn’t find glitches in the level which is very good. So all together this level is a good experience.
