Hmm... you can prevent SelfD cheating by making you wait 45 seconds or so (and stand still).

You couldn't do anything with the current setup of megawarp and jj2 (like setting up a program to find a big change in the position values at once) becuase warps are still normal (and so is lag).

I can't remember if you dist. to me or not, glad I didn't redist XD.

Kaz, in 45 seconds, someone could kill you or you could rejoin, and it still wouldn't eliminate the thing about the disappearing flag.

That "server warp or SD clients prog" sounds too easy to manipulate for cheating. Example: Say I'm hosting, and...say...Trafton (I'm thinking these up off the top of my head here) finds a secret which will give him lots of powerups. It's too easy for me to warp him away from there, or make him SD. So, not a good idea. Nice try though.

Uh...Iam, you can only self destruct yourself, not other people.

Seriously, MW/UW/ whatever should not ever be used. Stuck in a wall? Use Controller's self destruct feature. Fell off the level? Self destruct. There really is no good reason to use those warp proggies.
MW was not supposed to be released and Cataclysm does not stop MW... Otherwise u would be banned if u went into a warp event.. its the same thing.. think about it...

There is a play area guard in Cataclysm, but that's really just there to stop JJNOWALLers.

I was talking about URJazz's hypothetical program. The server would be able to manipulate too many things.

Iam, the server wouldn't be able to minupulate too many things.

I wasn't saying that SDing is worse than MWing, I'm just saying that they are both cheating. AKA they modify address values. But what I think would be the best idea is to have a program that if it is run it looks like it does nothing (If you are a client) but if you are a server you can select a client (Or yourself) and choose to Warp or SD them.(Or atleast make it so that a button appears on the clients program to 'authorize' the warping or SDing since it'd be mean if you just SD'd a person or MW'd them into a warptargetless warp.)

Disclaimer: This is not to insult anyone.

Anybody with an average intelligence who is willing to invest time in understanding JJ2's memory addresses and is willing to invest time learning how to program can make a warp program if they wanted to. Heck, even by simply using canned programs (I won't say their names) that let you search for and change the contents of memory offsets you can warp.

The point of what I said? Suppose Mega Warp, Ultra Warp, Silly Warp, is, by some miracle, eliminated. There would be no more cheaters, right? Wrong. The above paragraph proves why there still will be.

hehe... working on some "anti-warp" program... so that if you move than 10 tiles at once ur kicked or something... except if u come through a warp and out a warp target...

but if there is lag then its most unfortunate for the client... i dunno... any ideas anyone?

That's a good idea actually. If you release that program, you bet I'll use it.

Really, we need a program that does three things:
1. Automatically bans laser shield users.
2. Stops warp programs.
3. AUTOMATICALLY REMOVES SHINY BUT BAD-WHEN-FROZEN GEM RINGS FROM LEVELS! *Glares at Spoy, who is off in the distance, not visiting the JCF.*

Hmm... the bann thing wouldn't be hard to do if there was a laser shield (auto completely). I think it's already done.

Freezing gem rings anywhere in a server will make everyone else in that server crash. Whenever I find a level with gem rings and ice, I point this out.

That would be nice; but what if the server uses it?

*feels like being annoying*

Did you really register it Link?

http://www.loc.gov/copyright/

There's probably some other, more official looking website around, but I couldn't find it.

Anyway, I'm off-topic here.

Well, KRSplat, he held the copyright from the moment he created it, as he said. Any intellectual property (such as literature, artwork, songs, poetry, messages on newsgroups or bulletin boards, or computer software) is copyrighted from the moment is fixed into a tangible form under US copyright law. Registration merely serves as a public record of the copyright (and a registered copyright would have more weight in court). In any case, distributing software without the author's explicit permission is illegal under most nations' laws.

Nobdy would care if its legal or not, Link, we all burn CDs and thats illegal, if a MW user would see this topic he'd explode laughing and would think youre stupid or something, why make a big legal thing about a game? so what if it ruins the game??? avoid them and ban them if you want.

If you change the pos addresses, it wont help because people are making more and more programs as you said.
I recomend (this is how it is in a hacker-infested RPG i know) that each time the game is run it will use diffrent addresses for everything- no more trainers.

But everyone knows that burning certain CDs is illegal, and that if they were caught they could get in trouble for it. No matter what it is, illegal is illegal. If people know that something is illegal, it is a deterrent, no matter how small.

Vash, both are illegal.

With no intent to offend, you really did not need to revive this to post illegal content. I understand you thought it to be legal, but nonetheless it is unnecessary to revive it. Distributing copyrighted programs such as that one and also modifying them to lack password or code protection is illegal.
