Maybe, that not a good idea, but why don't the community collect money and buy the rights of jj2 include the source code, and after the community got it, they can make it free.

You know what's really strange? Although Epic won't release the JJ2 source code, they already released the Unreal Tournament source code to a group of talented coders in the community. Look at this: http://www.utpg.org/
If someone were to send them a polite email saying "You released the source for one of your most popular games, why not JJ2?" There might be half of almost nearly partly a chance that Epic would even READ IT. It says this on that site I mentioned. Quite interesting: We are a group of programmers and server admins from the UT community who got together and approached Epic about the possibility of maintaining the Unreal Tournament code base. Since our goal of maintaining the game and fixing obvious problems, while keeping all the major game-play systems 100% intact, were right along with Epic's goals, Epic granted us access to the source which allows us to undertake this project. Our focus is general maintenance with some of our time spent dealing with security issues in the Unreal Tournament engine. Annoying, eh? Oh well. |

It's almost as though Epic denies ever making JJ2. They no longer have any official JJ2 webpages, and as far as my knowledge is aware, there has only been 1 JJ easter egg in the Unreal games.
The problem is how easy it is for a game like Unreal to be popular, and how easy it is for a game like JJ2 to not be (aside from us, of course, but we don't count in Epic's eyes, for some reason). |

It's as if epic WANTED to make jazz fail

I ain't surprised, while it was granted a very good idea, and possibly had some of my requests taken it. I have a feeling it'd be an "April Fools" joke. The screenshots were pretty cool, but it didn't look offical enough, making it less credible in my eyes.
Yes, somehow I do have a feeling that Epic doesn't even take care about Jazz Jackrabbit, only for their piffling Unreal Tournament games, which, are getting old. FAST. If they can't focus ONE second of their lives on their older games, than they shouldn't even be a company to begin with. I swear if all they think is "OMG, LETS MAKE ANOTHER UNREAL WITH 00BER GRAFICS!", then god bless them if they ever think about fun and gameplay, ala JJ2 for once!

Mastercheater: Although I really want a new jazzjackrabbit, it is no reason to say that the unreal series sucks, because it doesnt.

Tell them, that Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is one of THEIR games, they HAVE TO care about it too. So many people are trying to change JJ2 so that it's even better, and if they don't care at all, why would they ever keep the source code secret? Dreams are fine, but reality is what we want to see! (Well, I do, and I think most of you want to build 1.25 too) And if they really don't have it any more, there has to be ANY way to get that code? And if they want JJ2 to die just like everyone is dying to get this, then let JJ2 live with our own 1.25! Please, make them give that code! I've seen that most people want 1.25 since 2002, and they still haven't gave us the code. Just ask them one LITTLE thing:
WHY? So, I think that's enough. // Jerry // |

Or they dont give the source code cause they maybe they still wanna start a new Jazz game. There was nothing in the planning so there is a little change.

Although it's totally unfair that Epic released the source for UT and not JJ2, that's not any kind of reason to say Unreal sucks. In many ways, it's similar to JJ2. Think about it. There's a reason the original JJ3 demo used the Unreal engine. It's the closest thing to a 3D JJ2 there is. Also, UT2K4 > *.

Incorrect.
The only people who say that the modern Unreal games suck usually say that because their PC sucks and can't play them at full detail. |

Hahah, well. Usually for some people it's like that, but I assure you, my PC is not that weak to run UT2003/04. Usually, it just doesn't have the same "fun" and "gameplay" in my view, as the old UT games. Even though it's nearly, if not mostly the same, it's just too diffrent for my taste. (No, I do not mean the new game modes.) But, putting aside those UT chats..

what is a resource code anyway?

.. What's a Source Code you ask? Well, think of it as a lot of text-type files (.c, .h like), with code in them? Still don't understand? Eh, basicly, a Source Code is where ALL the coding for the entire game, that means Enemy A.I., player movement, paralax coding, all there. That's in the source code, but it does not include Sprites, graphics and such things though. That's what a "Source Code" is.
