Jazz 2 Bonus Level Sprites
I had requested to Pyro in MIRC earlier today to post the JJ2 bonus level sprites so I could make comparisons to JJ1's. I had only asked for one, but instead got the whole shebang.
The sprites are: Jazz Hurt Jazz Idle Jazz Jump Jazz Roll Jazz Rotate Jazz Walk Spaz Hurt Spaz Idle Spaz Jump Spaz Roll Spaz Roll Larger Spaz Rotate Spaz Walk EDIT- If you want the JJ1 sprites, download Double Dutch's JJ1 Sprite rips found at: http://www.freewebs.com/gannalev/Ext...%20Sprites.zip (Copy and paste URL into correct area) Last edited by n00b; Aug 8, 2005 at 07:16 PM. |

Something I would like to say, the animations labelled "Hurt" should be renamed to "Skid". It's more appropriately named that way.
...I like being picky. Edit: And what's with the Spaz Roll Larger animation? I think the original is appropriately sized. Look at how skinny Spaz is compared to Jazz. |

How rux. I was wondering if the animations were ever actually put in the game.

There's gotta be more sprites if the bonus levels are in 3D. In JJ1, you can see Jazz sideways when he turns when running.

That's awesome find! And you know... these rolling animations look a lot like the ones in Sonic Advance 2 bonus stages.

@Ninjajazz: You hack the game. It's the samething as the Tweedle sprites @WR- I would assume the game uses the Rotate sprites for when Jazz turns. If you recall in JJ1 when you turned you couldn't move, and the JJ1 Turn Sprites are also used in the game's rotate. For those of you who use archive.org, information on the bonus levels can be found on the old JJ2 site which can be accesed by doing a search on www.epicgames.com and choosing some of the earlier links. I wonder if the "Eye-Popping" time traveling effects are still in the game. |

Okay. This is cool. You could make a Jazz 3D with 16-bit sprites instead of 3D model!! At least I like the idea.

The idea is nice and all, but it would restrict the possibilities of the game since if you are going to use the original sprites, they aren't very many, and if you are going to make your own, nobody is going to make enough sprites so that it wouldn't look choppy if the camera turned.. see what I mean?

It would make for great bonus levels in addition of a JJ2 episode if someone managed to make a game from those sprites.

Probably Jelze hasn't played that particular game before. It was released on a console nobody bought, but I was fortunate enough to get an OEM PC version with one of my older computers.

Actually, (refering to my last post) I love 8-Bit and some 16-Bit better than full fledged 3D or full orchistra, (refering to music) but that is only for some games.

Yes, I meant Sonic CD with "Sonic 3D", Sonic 3D doesn't really count. I have the PC version of the game (which can only work on XP with a special patch). It was first released for the Sega CD/Mega CD system and no, hardly anybody bought it. - JelZe GoldRabbit =:3 |

1. No it wasn't Aku. It was one of the best systems that was overlooked due to the giant that (at the time) was Nintendo. It didn't due well in America because of poor marketing, the same fate as that of the Sega Master System.
2. This isn't really the place to be expressing your views on consoles from 1990. |

Why is everyone saying it takes too many sprites to make your own custom one? It's not like the Jazz or Spaz rotatation has 230 sprites each. Jazz alone has 44 sprites when all the frames from each sprite I posted are added together. That's not terribly bad. The only problem is getting the rotations right.
