A couple weeks ago Risp was programming artificial intelligences. I suddenly was inspired by this to try my hand at AI'ing again. I already had a history of mediocre AI-only games, so I decided to continue the old series. Eventually Risp, Dev, and Lem ended up helping, too.
Thus, http://www.foxmage.com/RadFaw3.zip . Zero-player goodness. (A musicless version is here, if you don't feel like downloading all of the above file.) Discuss. I guess I should start running ToU again now... |

Fun! I'm now tempted to write my own. That or polish and release my Dalek vs Annedroid simulator.

But seriously, both sides do the same thing for projectile attacks- they make a projectile and point it in the direction of the nearest enemy. There isn't anything that determines accuracy; the only way they can miss is if the enemy moves out of the way (which happens often, of course).

@Boggy: Stijn is correct, it was coded in Game Maker. @Everyone else: Thanks =D Oh, and @WR: Sure, feel free to post anywhere. But mention to send any feedback to a@foxmage.com, if possible. And maps are randomly chosen from a list, but there's a setting to make it cycle through them. EDIT: I sill don't know if the code that makes them help eachother does much. I ran a whole bunch of high-speed tests where only one side had that enabled, and the side with it won only 51-60. That's not a big difference.

They are the casting circle Rads make when they cast spells. Originally when I made them they were pentagrams but Radium asked me to change it.

It's not hard to turn an EXE into a screensaver, but I'm not sure everything that should change. Would you want the sound gone? It to close on mouse movement? Automatic transitions is a given, of course.

After a few humiliating defeats at the hands of the Forces of Rad, the Faw Squad exterminated most of the Forces of Rad and drove them back into an area with a hamburger. Then some new Rads spawned and killed a lotta Faws. Eventually, it was a match between a heroic (not really) level 6 Faw who kept hogging the hamburger and some evil dark Rad thing who used Matrix movements (also hogging a hamburger.) Due to a lot of Faws spawning at once, even the uber-Rad couldn't kill all of them with uber lightning spells before he was killed.

Yes, you must turn this into a screensaver!

I put together a basic screensaver of it at http://www.foxmage.com/RFScreenie.scr . It doesn't have sound, music or a title page, and will automatically go to the next map after a few seconds at the victory screen. You should note, however, I wasn't sure how to make it work right in the Screensaver Settings preview window. When it should be appearing in the preview window it just starts regularly. Other than that, it should work fine.

So I made that my screen saver and it proceded to change my background to 'rimg0231' which was completely black..
The settings menu/preview are the two difficult aspects of making a screen saver work properly. I imagine a little googling would produce good results, though doing it in gamemaker is probably a trick.

The screen saver owns. Also, I began work on a neat little AI game thing. If I ever finish it, it'll be cool.
