Jerry, you don't always have to repeat something everyone knows.

You can say "close to a year" now, since it's revived ;P
The Lower Bracket isn't finished yet and I wanna proove it's possible to finish a large tournament nowadays.. Anyway, Sperry, SJ, Veg, Yax and me are still in, so I think it won't be a problem to finish it..

SJ vs Qz
5-1 to SJ in Semi(SJ's choice) 5-1 to SJ in JE(Qz's choice) Now scores tell quite much how active Quickz has been around jj2-scenes lately. But as well, I was to mess up my gameplay goofily especially in Semi-round. Good games however, and thx to PJ for hosting.

Yay, the tournament is alive again ;P
Anyway, next up is an all-Belgium confrontation (Yasco vs. Squirrel) and the winner of that one will play Superjazz. Finally, R3ptile will wait in the final of the Lower Bracket at the winner of that match. Then, the winner of the LB will play the winner of the Upper Bracket, Vegito. If Veg wins, he will win the tourney. If he loses, another duel (I'll post details about that duel if needed) is required to determine who will be the winner of the Duellist Invitational Tournament ;P.

Some laggy game, kinda hate lag maybe
![]() Stupid games. Haha. I don't like playing with so many 3hks ![]() ![]() The lag was no fun. That for sure.. Kinda fun how we both got to complain at eachother about the lag though, lol. And neither could help it, we both just.. lagged. The lag controlled the game instead of one player controlling the game in a level>\ The player who was the most lucky kinda won the round .. lol. Well, gratz for finishing this tournament too. 38 players =-\ I won somehow >:\ lol |

Grand-final:
R3ptile vs. Vegito 2-5 SBv2 5-3 MS 4-5 Marsh quite laggy, no to mention rather odd games (we beat each other in our home levels), full of 3hk's from both sides.. the last round was probably determined by 3hk's and Veg camping the seeker warp exit all the time, which made me really angry.... well honestly if you told me a couple of years ago that Veg would be playing me in the grand final of a duel tourney and even win i would've probably been laughing at your face, so yeah.... life is full of surprises. fun games despite it all.. you know i'm not at my best, getting my (-)(-)(-) whooped at SJ's tourney at all.. so yeah, the outcome of this kinda came as a surprise to me, considering both sq and veg are two of the best duelist nowadays.. before the game against veg i even stated i'm already satisfied enough with the 2nd place and therefore didn't try too hard... makes me really wonder, do i still have it after all?... ;) Last edited by R3ptile; Dec 12, 2007 at 11:14 AM. |

Well, the Duellist Invitational Tournament started at January 31st, when R3ptile played the first match. Almost a whole year later, at December 12th, that same R3ptile lost the final to Vegito, who didn't lose a single match in the whole tournament. With 40 participants this was probably the largest duel-tournament ever.
The groupstage was quite exciting, but it took ages to finish it. Some players like R3p were quite fast with finishing their duels, while others (most of them were CC'ers ;P) needed months to finish their group matches. The only group to finish all matches was group 8 (Superjazz, Sperry, Dejman and Master Sven). There were 72 duels to be played - 57 were actually played (=79%). Next up was the knock-out stage. The best two players in each group qualified for this stage. Enigma was added as best 3rd after the withdrawal of Snooze. There was only one walkover (Grytolle didn't play again after the groupstage) and two forfeits after one or two rounds played. It was Vegito who won the Upper Bracket, only losing one game (in the quarterfinals vs. Sucer). The Lower Bracket - since we worked with the double elimination system - was a whole different story. None of the first matches was played. 14 duels were supposed to be played, but only 4 were actually played. It was R3ptile, the UB-runner up, who won the Lower Bracket, so he had to play Vegito once again. That final turned out to be quite exciting. R3ptile picked SBv2 as first level, but lost 2-5. Veg took a 3-0 lead in Medieval Skyscrapers, but R3p surprisingly came back and took the second round with 5 points in a row. The deciding level, The Marshland of Evil, turned out to be a real thriller. Vegito won it 5-4 and became the winner of the Duellist Invitational Tournament. Well, thank you all for playing, I hope you had fun ;P and maybe see ya in some second edition!
