make hotel serwer xDDDD have test?
Anyway the idea of this whole article seems to be that these so-called "dead enders" complain about stuff on a server. But for one thing most of these people who talk about how cool everything used to be in the days do not play JJ2 anymore, and servers in Quake are hardly comparable to those in our game. JJ2 has no dedicated server, and only few server settings – alright, JJ2+ changes this... but at this moment most people find pretty much all JJ2+ features except PITS cool just because they are new anyway – and from my experience a "newbie friendly server" hosts either a hotel or a test. It's pretty much two separate environments in online JJ2 - normal servers and the aforementioned hoteltest servers. The group who enjoys #1 won't join #2 much (and if they do it's just to ask the players in the server to start a type 1 server) and vice versa. There's a silent crowd who just join random servers, don't chat and play a bit, but I doubt they would be of any concern. All in all, reading this article as if it was about JJ2 makes me wonder what its point is. As far as I see the problem described has not occured in this community as there are no "dead enders"; the JJ2 dead enders are in #jj2, not playing online. How serious was this, actually? |

JJ2 doesn't need to be "revived". I've been around since 1999 and to me the game seems more active than it has ever been, except for maybe the very, very early days. Its pretty common to see the server list go to two pages now. There was a time when that was an extremely rare occasion.
Whenever people say the game is dying or the community isn't what it used to be, these are just old diehards who don't want to acknowledge that things change. There are a lot of people who play the game, its just that they are mostly different people from the ones who played in the past. Also note that right now, I just checked and 22 people are playing jj2 online. 20 people are playing quake 1 online (the vast majority of servers have 0 players). Stupid Rabbit Game 2, which was obscure from the very start, is beating what was once an extremely popular online FPS game. The reason for this is simple. Deathmatch FPS games are fun, but they are a dime a dozen. JJ2 on the other hand is the only game of its kind. In my opinion that gives JJ2 a lot more survivability than any more generic old game, despite its age.

Lots of servers does not means a lot of players, but I guess you are right. Also, even though the game is famus enough, not many knows this community, and some dosent even know the online option (I know I thought it's just some never used option to make the game look cooler). Although, it does seem that the roumur has in Spain or something, not helpful.
OMG GUYS MAKE POP UPS ADS AND SPAM MAIL THAT SAYS "JOIN JJ2! GET A 5% OFF JJ PLUSH DULL!!!"!!!

Jazz is dead , And the purpose of this thread is to revive it. One of the main reasons is people can't host. If more people could host others would join more. People like haveing a choice. It would be nice to see loads of servers so you don't have to just choose a battle or ctf , or fr.

Personally I think that the best way to increase activity in jj2 would be to be able to legally share the game online for free. Let that mean making jj2 freeware or coding our own game (OJ2).

Never say dead. NEVER The fact that jj2 is appearing on abandonware sites means it's attracting a lot of players into the game. The other thing YOU can do is talk about the game to everyone. |

What are you guys talking about? FPS pwnes almost every other game in the market (with the exception, perhaps, of Jazz2). But there's no way you can say they suck, when they don't!
Take, for example, these games: Medal of Honor, FEAR, Call of Duty, Crisis (couldn't play this one but heard is great), Battlefield 1942, SW: Battlefront, Jedi Knight, Half-Life, Soldier of Fortune. Notice I haven't even mentioned Quake or Unreal (Tournament). I really can't believe you don't like ANY of these games, since they are very well known and praised.

Starwars Battlefront was an FPS? Learn something new everyday.
EDIT- Did some research, and SW:BF does include an FPS option, though if thats the case that means the Ratchet and Clank games could be lumped in as FPSes as well. Last edited by n00b; Apr 18, 2008 at 11:59 AM. |

And metroid. All of them. Even the classic NES one.

I don't recall Metroid Pinball being a FPS.

These threads almost always follow a certain pattern. Someone says JJ2 is dead/dying, someone refutes the claim with evidence, naysayers continue to go nuts over something that isn't happening and is, in the end, irrelevant.

JJ2 multiplayer online is dead. The single player is still alive. cooba, what do you really mean it's "dead"? Hmm? The number of people don't play online much or people just don't play the game anymore? Explain. People who play JJ2 single player are a lot. People who play JJ2 online are less.
I'll repeat again, JJ2 isn't exposed to online play. Sure it's got online play, would you think many people who own it would play it online? Think about your reasoning again. I mean people who search for multiplayer games won't find JJ2 as multiplayer, they just find it as single player. However, Jazz Jackrabbit series itself is eternal. I like the GBA version and JJ1 more than JJ2. People still play to that. Quake was meant for multiplayer because it had lot of features similar to Unreal, HL, etc. Being FPS games, it's meant for online. Sonic Online would be pretty much be the gayest game unless it's 3d hahaha XD.
