Contest: Revenge of the Single Screen CTF
Please go here to vote for your choice of the winner:
http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showt...909#post449909 Unfortunately i did not have time to put pictures in my review, but a whole lot is not lost by me not having them. 5th: SUCKY LEVEL - RAGNAROK 1:21:06 plunK : "That vibrating spring in the middle bugs me......." 1:21:22 Ragnarok : ".....of all things a vibrating spring bugs you?" 1:21:31 Ragnarok : "Wow, im not entering one of your contests again" 1:22:05 plunK : "You didnt get docked at all for the spring" 1:22:09 plunK : "Seeing as I just noticed it now, it just bugs me" Sucky level a clever map, and go figure, Ragnarok used Jazz 1:Battleships v2 (again) The map features several smal platforms over a semi large pit that spans a little over half of the bottom with a single spring on a pillar in the middle. Althought the eyecandy is decent and fairly typical of our good friend Ragnarok, the prize in this map is the gameplay concept and the item placement. Each player spawns with a water shield, and before you ca steal the flag to capture, you must wear down the opponents shield. There are a few seekers to give added gameplay, but the fun is in the ice, which can get a fun kill over the central pit, which is the central play area of the map. It was very very fun to play online. 4th: CREPUSCULAR CAVES -DARKSONIC Making great use of the dark plaent tileset, crepuscular caves is a very well layed out level, with above average eyecandy, and exceptional gameplay. The bottom half of the map in particular is very well done, with the rf weapon placement near thin ledges is clever because we kept tending to fire right after we got and, and that pushed us into the pit. The use of items as part of the eyecandy was also a very nice feature that all my testers complimented on. 3rd: WINNING ORDINARY ORIGINAL POOP (WOOP) - FAWFUL Another map that was excellent in both eyecandy and gameplay, and the custom music was another nice treat. WOOP focuses on these 2 building complexes over a pit. The weapon placement and level design brought around quite entertaining gameplay because it wasnt very simple to go and grab the other teams flag, the roof were angled in a way to increse difficulty. The secret messages were amusing, and the hidden powerup room made good use as the pu was melee only. The only thing about this levelthat we didnt like, was that spring on the centre platform, which made getting off the chain annoying and tedius, and could throw you into the pit if you hit it wrong. 2nd: KNIGHTS OF EVE - HITCH This map gave an incredible first impression and later impression. It made great use of level space and had clever ways to avoid making the carrots too easy to get. Eyecandy was exceptional, especially seeing as it was a symetrical map but the eyecandy was not symetrical. Gameplay proved very very good and the layout and weapon placement was outstanding. Hitch used lighting effects, great music, everything. There are only 2 things that kept this map from first: 1: The flags are slightly far over campared to the sucker tubes, so as you jump to grab the flag you miss fairly frequently, which cost points and games. 2: The next level: 1st: BETA CAROTENE - DODGES This map was just over the top with how amazing everything was. The layout is awesome, and the platforms are shaped in ways that make advantage of certain weapons properties, such as the bouncers angle. The side witch system at the bottom was quite clever, and a great feature to have. Gameplay was absolutely amazing on this map, possibly one of the best games ive ever had. The springs on the side were placed well so people falling down would miss them but people wanting to use them easily could. But the best part of this map: the eyecandy. The rock with the moving sky tiles in the back made all the testers instantly love this map, as it gives you a tubular semi aquarium style feeling, and he made a whole nother map behind the level as eyecandy, which looking great. in all my testers opinions and mine, this map one by alot (althought only narrowly beating out KOE) the only thing on this map that could really be improved was the music, which was really funky XD NOTABLE OTHER MENTIONS: DJazz's Acid Factory also had quite great gameplay, but the level eyecandy and other things were not up to par to win, but i would still reccommend playing them TRoglobites RockPaperScissors is also a quite clever use of CTF and triggers to create a custom rock paper scissors game, definately check this one out. A few questions:
Whats a wing shoe event? (and what number) What do you mean with the size? 20x15 tiles? oO How many levels can you submit? And will all entrys be hosted or the ones that pass the rules (especially this one: "Must be an Original, Authentic level"). Because its easy to post some junk levels and i dont think you want to be hosting that :P

![]() btw .. i have more hidden messages then 3, but i thought it was a minimum. i hope it's okay. also the name WOOP = Winning ordinary original poop. winning as in that the level itself 'wins' not like something arrogant that i am sure it will win this contest :P. i made the music myself aswell, it's not a remix. ^^

1. Wing Shoe or Fast Feet can be found in Pickups -> Goodies
2. In the Layer Properties there are two boxes that say "Width" & "Height." 20 is the width and 15 is the height. Enter any number in these boxes (in this case it would be between 20 - 40 width and 15 - 30 height for the contest). 3. One, I guess. BTW, expect a level from me soon. |

Yes tilesize 20-40 x 15-30 I really have no preference to how many levels you submit, just remember 3 crappy ones is not as good as 1 that took you 3 times as long. And ill be hosting them all, but as last time the levels that are junky tend to not pass the requirements anyways. |

was that comment really necessary?

Drought
40Ă—30 duel level, semi-symmethrical, two carrots, secret routes, Blaster powerup, a shield, and a pit. Takes a questionable approach to the requirements. Possibly the most Spaz biased thing I've done yet, even if I tried to balance the characters. I expect people to either hate it, or hate it. I had tons of fun toying with this and that's what matters ![]()

![]() Here's my entry: Cramped Spaceship Some info about the level: The middle Carrot has the shortest spawn time but is the hardest to get. The other 2 are easier to pick up but have a longer spawn time. 5 textstrings are present, 4 cheeses can be seen at the bottom and the Wing Shoes are above the PU. The Bouncy PU has an Initial Delay. I don't usually enter these contests, and I think 40x30 is rediculously small.
Nonetheless, I thought I'd give it a go. The level is concepted for duels, and the idea is to wear down the shield of the other player, while keeping yours as high as you can by hogging the stopwatches. Alternatively you can use some of the level's traps to finish the opponent, but remember to score afterwards. ;o. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=d...4e75f6e8ebb871 I hope you hate it as much as I do. |

I was working on a unique level for this, and on JCS, it's just plain brilliant. (Well, that's biased, but it's still wildly different from anything I've ever seen before in Jazz and took some fancy engineering to build) But it seems Jazz crashes three seconds after I load the level. So I may or may not be able to figure this out by the deadline.
Edit: Is there something in Jazz that will cause the game to crash if you try putting 12 of the trigger crates which spawn with a trigger ID other than 31? (I used the method described here) I sure hope not, else my level's history.

It appears the problem is only sort of MCE related, seeing as I can get the level to work perfectly in single player or treasure hunt, but it crashes a few seconds in every time I try on CTF. So I'll probably fix the level, but it's most likely not going to be part of this contest.

No, it's randomly placing two arbitrary events and hoping that it will fix things.
