The similarity is pretty amazing, i'm pretty baffled! In the full version of the set (eg not the contest version) we want to add animated eyes and such!

My sources of inspiration for this tileset were a couple of fleshy monsters from "Shin Megami Tensei IV" as well as an old game called "PC Bakterien". (I hope the screenshots show up!) wow that's exactly the idea I had but never started working on it!! glad someone unknowingly took the burden off my shoulders
I'd love to see all these guts pulse and squirm and all that gross animated stuff, but I guess that's out of the question considering this is a SMALL tileset contest...

No big deal if the theme turned out to be similar to another. Blood.j2t isn't very good anyway (way too limited, lack of contrast. I've played levels with that set and they all look like a cluttered, blurry mess. The backdrop also looks shaky.).
From tip 7 "...But if you can improve on an existing theme, it doesn't matter.". Talking of the entry. Hmm..those red and purple foreground things look tasty. They look like glazed long fruit gummy sticks (I'm not sure exactly what they're called). For some reason they're sometimes called coloured licorice sticks but that's a stupid name since they taste nothing like real licorice -the black aniseed-like sweets. I think the reason is that you won't be able to find that type of neon purple inside a body, and look too uniform.

ugh
Idea here was pretty straightforward... low tile limit? lol who cares. So you see lots of tiles meant to be flipped horizontally and/or vertically, tiles meant to be turned into sprites and drawn in different color schemes and at different sizes and angles, tiles meant to be assembled into larger images to fill the background instead of relying on traditional tile connections. The textured background is reused as a series of other background layers. Invisible masks and multiple layers with 1/1 speeds are used liberally. The walls are scripted to be drawn with smooth transitions between colors at a variety of angles, despite the tiles themselves completely barren. Other tiles got dedicated animation routines. However, I've had no interest in finishing the example level (or redrawing some of the background layer tiles, or doing alternate palettes) anytime in the last two months, so you get what you get. There are warps to take you between the bottom (beginning of example level proper, with all of one finished wall section) and top (test area that I used to make sure tiles fit together). Yaaaaaay. Me and SE are taking a look at the entries today. Including Violets. Perhaps I should just stick the review for that here.
There is no easy winner (lets just say they exceed in their own ways), so the winners will be announced tomorrow or the day after. Not sure if I'll make another tileset contest as many people seemed reluctant to work on theirs. So much "I'm going to enter!" and no finished entry at all after many months. However, I will say I would increase the tile limit to make adding important tiles easier. I didn't mean to make it a such a challenge to add everything, I simply wanted to make it easy to finish.

Were going to make our own example levels with the Brain tumor and pipe dream tileset. They will be purely EC focused. We just think a bit more could've been done with them EC-wise.
Also the pipe dream script is poorly optimised, which eats my FPS. For a big hint why; "[16:40:47] Sir Ementaler: I looked into the script of Obi's example level and found an easy way to optimize it. [16:40:47] Sir Ementaler: Turns out he already only changed the palette once every two frames but every four frames he applied changes 5 times, lol."

Why make another example levels purely EC focused? I think the point of an example level is to show basic usage of a set, not completely rape it EC-wise...
