It's called EYECANDY. Without it, it would be like it was almost no level at all. And tell me how it could make the gameplay worse.

Also, why the oddly hearts in the corner?
I used JSD to hack the heart sprite a long time ago.
PS: If this came across as a PA or anything negative, I'm sorry. I'm trying not to be so negative.

It looks nice and all, but Zodiak's Respirator in a Battleships level? :l Oh well. I do not know the real atmosphere of the level yet, so I can't really judge if it fits or not, but it seems pretty weird to me.

I get into some arguements, but I'm not THAT easily offended. Anyways, what I meant by my post was that there was too much eyecandy, and you see the eyecandy before you see the level. To make better eyecandy, dim it with transclucent blackness, so you can see it, but it's not distracting or painful to the eyes. Luckily, yours isn't the latter. It makes gameplay worse because it redirects your concentration to the awkward rays of colour. Not a real problem, but it can be improved.

Also, just a small little update: I removed the ships that I had in the foreground (There was too many!)

Good! I think the player should be able to focus on the actual level now.

A medium (67x67) sized battle level that has been sitting around for a while. Just finished testing it, and Just released

I can't help but think that comment was abrasive. People don't like being told what to do, especially if you are arrogant about it.

That post shows neither. Is it arrogant to tell people what they did right and should continue to do?

Anyways, what tileset did you use for the level shown? It looks Cryssilisy, but not from any tileset I've seen.

Creative use of trees in the windows. Maybe there could be a teleport to the inside of the room? Then again, I have no idea what gametype that is. But teleports to the inside are alwasy good.

It does look a bit like a sandstorm. I do like the trees growing through the windows.

I find the tree's going through the windows... weird. :/ Otherwise it looks great, I always liked the way you can use the background in that tileset.

(why am I getting red dots under my words?)

I'd like to beta-test that level. I'm curious about what the trees look like in motion.
Anyway, in a frozen frame it does look relatively nice.

It's really cool that Emerald Forest is almost done, and it will be released in a few days, if not less (betatesting, w00t!). I can not wait :DDDDDDD!!!!!! This is my best level BY FAR, and I was just hosting it online. The gameplay is AWESOME.
EDIT: I thought right now might be a good time to release it.

UGLY UGLY UGLY

It looks classical to me. Nothing really new about it, just another level to play. Eyecandy is good though, the above strike is just my poor sense of humor.

Well, comparing it to the background the foreground looks too empty to me. Ofcourse it shouldn't be overdone, as Evilmike is implying...

I have now decided to call the level Submerged Caverns. I thought this sounded a lot nicer than "Aquatic Antics."
I played around with the background in Layer 8 by putting in the blank Destruct Scenery block in for a joke but then I actually thought it looks really awesome.

"Look at you, Jazz. A pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?"

I finally got ticked off enough about no actual space-station tilesets for my levelset that I started making this conversion of system shock.

People really need to stop saving screenshots as .jpg.

Anyway a conversion of an fps game can be interesting. You will need to make some original tiles though, since jj2 is 2d!
