I'll hop back on this tomorrow. Finishing some stuff up now.
Will you guys mind if I continue without the pictures? It makes it a lot easier, really, and I'd have to draw some background images.

A fissure ran up the wall as I placed the last crystal in place. The sparks in the distance faded out, a bright light flooded the room and, for a moment, everything was silent. When the illumination faded down, the wall was torn open, the save point we had seen through the foggy ice visible on the other side, along with a snowy path into the distance.
"Wow, Faw," Araches commented, "Honestly, I didn't expect any of us - let alone you - to figure that one out." I shrugged. "Actually, I was kind of just randomly moving the crystals until it kind of looked like a zig-" L33tz4n, who had been staring at the crystals a moment before, cut in. "Of course! That was our mistake earlier; we weren't picking up that it wasn't a combination, but a command line. Even I couldn't pick up the complexity of the geometric mechanisms." "Yeah," I added, "the geometric mechanisms were one of the hardest parts. I surprised myself when I figured that out. It was like a little birdie told me." Uberbob, who I had been ignoring, snuck up behind me. "ADVENTURE!" he exclaimed, pointing dramatically into the entrance before us and almost making me jump off the bridge in shock. "Come on Faw, we have a Dreadlord to defeat!" He charged off into the distance. I walked forward a bit and looked around. To my north, the tunnel Uberbob had charged down echoed off into the distance. To my south, there was a door. On it read a single word, written in fresh red blood. "sAve". |

"Yeah guys, we did it!" I said cheerfully in an attempt to raise morale. "Together. We did it together," I added, "except for Uberbob. He didn't help." I think Araches almost smiled, but nobody else did. Except Fooruman, who applauded. I don't count that, though.
"At least we found a save point," I added. Shuriken gave me a confused stare. "So, to you, these are a lot like those little places in a volksmarch where some old lady gives you a cup of lemonade, only you get nothing?" I ignored her comment and pushed the door open, carelessly walking inside. A second later I recoiled in shock, because I had just encountered none other than Plot Device the rabbit. He was in a partial slump against a sink, wearing torn clothing, covered with huge bloody gashes, and looked to be nearer to death than ever before. "S... save your magic, Shaman.." he croaked as I lifted my hand. Then I snapped. "I wasn't GOING to heal you! I was going to STANGLE you! I'm not a (-)ing shaman! And how the (-) did you get in here? I spent AGES brute forcing that puzzle, and here you are, waiting, about to die. AGAIN. You're probably just going to tell us "Oh, oh, there's so much danger, watch out," and then...? WE WIN ANYWAY. How did you even survive the last time you were mortally wounded? And the time before that? And, again, why the hell are you even here?" "You must turn back, shaman... there's not much-" "Time, time, you're going to (-)ing die and you (-)ing want me to give a flying (-) about it. Well guess what? You're NOT GOING TO (-)ING DIE AND I am (-)ING TIRED OF your cryptic warnings and (-)ing calling me a (-)ing SHAMAN. So why don't you jus... juss..." I was panting, out of breath. I tried again but couldn't even get out a "juss". I looked down. Plot Device the rabbit was dead. I stood there for a minute, frozen. L33tz4n slithered in, followed by an unusually solemn and quiet Fooruman. What felt like a few minutes passed in complete silence. "I... I feel kind of bad now." "It's okay," L33tz4n said, "it was his time to go. Several times ago." Other than the dead body of Plot Device, the room contained a blood-covered sink, shattered toilet, and empty soap dispenser. The floor, where not hidden under Plot Device's blood, was tiled with scungy blue and white tiles. Inventory Code:

"Well.. I... I guess there's only one way left to go." I quietly walked between L33tz4n and Fooruman and out of the room, between Araches and Shuriken and to the north. The four of them silently walked behind me as I went.
As we reached the end of the tunnel, the room opened up. The snow was colder here and the ceiling was dome-shaped, almost organic looking in its texture. The path continued before us, with a deep dropoff to either side. For a moment, I thought I saw something moving in the shadows below, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. At the end of the path stood the door. It was twisted and gnarled, its zigzagged opening slammed tightly shut like teeth. The door was either meant to keep something out, or something in. It sparkled and shined in the refracted lights from the ice, and on either side of it hung a black and red banner with a simplified eye on it. It was majestic, it was powerful, it was towering, but, most of all, it was creepy. The five of us stood in awe at its size and strength. Well, six of us, though only five stood in awe. Uberbob was there too. "Faw!" he exclaimed, "This door is locked. I even tried turning everything that looked like a handle. We should go back and get the magic crystals of math and door opening." |

Try to LIMBO DANCE with the door.

"Well then, more crystalage," I said, walking back to the south. Suddenly, a barrage of icy spikes shot up from the ground (I jumped back, as a voice was telling me "don't get impaled!"). "It's a trap!" I exclaimed, though the word "trap" was cut off by the shziing of Shuri drawing her blade. The six of us turned around... and saw nothing.
"Well, at least nothing bad happened," Uberbob jinxed. A wave of color suddenly swept through the very walls. Life flowed through them, and deep red blood began to gurgle out where the banners were nailed in. A horrible, ear piercing scream rang through the air. Snow tumbled off the edges of the path into the abyss as more blood began to gurgle through the closed doors before us. The sound of sharp wardrums echoed all around. A harmonic, second, godless screeching came from the depths below. Gnarled, snakelike creatures rose on either side of us, not from the abyss but seemingly from the shadows themselves. I turned my head towards the door. The entrance slowly cracked open. I looked through its opening, expecting the worst. Nothing came. It was then I realized that I wasn't waiting for anything at all... Okay guys, some notes! If you forget the battle system, check the first post and look back at ToU Part 3 (there were three, maybe four battles there) and read the "Battle System" link on the first page. Also, Abydos is immune to magic. The battle system has no way to show this other than me telling you. Despite this, remember some things still work on him, including Feat, the First Aid Kit, and pretty much every enemy buff. It's been a while since we've had a battle, so correct me if I'm wrong...
I notice that Abydos has no movement. Does this mean he can't directly attack? Also, can we move into the dark squares (at either side of the map) *without plummenting to a horrible death*? Another rules question: does the first aid kit count as a spell, attack or movement for the purposes of how many things we can do in a turn? Last edited by Torkell; Nov 17, 2006 at 11:20 AM. |

I'm just wondering, why is Cooba allowed to participate in the fight despite knowing the big "trick" or whatever it was he "found out", yet Strato could not participate in-game at all when he "found out" the puzzle's solution?
