Troglobite was trying tricky things in JCS and found a simple way to do something that was practically impossible before: different exits in one level can cause you to spawn in different locations in the next level!

Check it out and give him mad props!

Wow, I’m quite surprised to see my name on the main page at J2O. Thanks.

Now go out there and make awesome levels.

Cobra NF on 19 Sep 2009 at 22:19

CrimiClown on 19 Sep 2009 at 22:47

So there is a God.

Cobra NF on 20 Sep 2009 at 00:33

so this is not a myth huh?

djazz on 20 Sep 2009 at 19:37

Try my example level I posted on that thread :D
Yes, this is cool stuff!

minmay on 20 Sep 2009 at 20:03

Wait, people didn’t know about this? I just assumed nobody had bothered to actually use it. Given how commonly the same thing used to occur in multiplayer games (you know, before JJ2+ partially fixed it…), I expected most would be famaliar with this bug.

blurredd on 20 Sep 2009 at 22:38

…Partially fixed it? You mean the fix doesn’t always work in online games?

St. Louis on 21 Sep 2009 at 08:04

What minmay said.

Krinya on 21 Sep 2009 at 18:29

I tried to use it, but I couldn’t do it, and I couldn’t even find an use in a level.

minmay on 21 Sep 2009 at 21:39

Yes, partially. I don’t have JJ2’s soruce code nor that of the JJ2+ patch, but I do know that I’ve had the warp glitch happen a couple times in multiplayer while using JJ2+ (though this was a few versions ago). By the same token, often it wouldn’t happen when it definitely would have in unpatched JJ2; hence, partially fixed.

I am unsure about the exact circumstances under which it will happen and will not happen. It’s possible that it only happens if the player is frozen (as from ice or a Freeze Enemies pickup – not the “frozen” that you’d get from a lost connection), but I just can’t remember very well. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

blurredd on 24 Sep 2009 at 03:42

That was enough information actually. I figured out what the problem was, and the fix will come in the next JJ2+ update. Just next time you notice something isn’t always working like it should, post about it in the JJ2+ thread, and I’ll get around to fixing it eventually. Thanks.

^ uhh.. LOL?

Ktos. on 29 Sep 2009 at 17:32

Uhm, Blur, in my opinion you shouldn’t fix that. Ofc its a bug etc. but its really nice idea at single player to make two patches at one level. Levelmakers of those levels will not have to use “Bonus level” or “Secret level” section at jcs in level properties. But if you can fix it only at multiplayer, than its ok. At single player this “bug” should stay.

minmay on 29 Sep 2009 at 20:37

The fix has alawys been multiplayer only. I don’t see why he would change it to include single player now.

SPAZ18 on 30 Sep 2009 at 09:28

Just wanted to point out that the “uhh.. LOL?” was pointing to a random comment that was posted here before in case someone thinks I was pointing to Blur’s post above.

Lark on 10 Oct 2009 at 03:43

why didn’t people figure out cool stuff like this back when I made levels? :P

EvilMike on 18 Nov 2009 at 02:53

how did this get bumped all the way to the top of the front page?

troglobite on 18 Nov 2009 at 15:40

I was wondering the same thing.

Ktos. on 18 Nov 2009 at 16:37

Well… Anyway that’s strange, shouldn’t this news be in other place?

EvilMike on 18 Nov 2009 at 22:46

I’d edit the date so this goes back to roughly when it originally appeared on the front page, but I have no idea how to do that.

Stijn on 21 Nov 2009 at 20:27

how did this happen

Nonomu198 on 24 Nov 2009 at 23:08

Ahaha, I just entered the site for the first time in a while, saw the newspost and thought “Well nothing new here”.
