Mind you, I wrote this all myself and, strictly speaking, there has actually not been much ‘neutrality’ in this entry, nor have I checked up on some of the facts not concerning me. Most of the things written here have also been copied and pasted from previous things I’ve done, with necessary fixes/additions.

I would prefer not to share ‘everything’ about me with everyone, so this is as much as you can (and should ;-P) know about me, unless I decide to be unfair and treat you differently.

So you’ve been warned.

A much shortened autobiography, as a community member

I bought Jazz Jackrabbit 2 on my birthday, in 1999. Since then, I moved house from Oxford to a smaller, neighbouring town, and joined the JJ2 community for real around late 2000. The friends I made in this period are long since gone from the game, but I still regularly talk to some, and meet most of them on MSN.

I was very active during my early years, both with the game and JCS, the level-creator for JJ2. I looked for a clan that would help me to improve, as well as to make more friends (although my first clan was not a total success because it was already half-dead by the time I joined). My ideal clan was J2F, or Jazz 2 Freaks, with Unhit as the clanleader. I really enjoyed my time with the clan, and got accustomed to using the Jazz Community Forums along with Jazz2Online.

In fact, J2F was burgeoning with new members by late 2001, and Unhit was always seeking new ways to expand…he was always looking towards the horizon and think out new ways for the clan to improve. We were, and still are, good friends, and he was my main source of inspiration (until TF was formed and I rudely ‘left’ JJ2 :|). Then something quite big happened. In 2002, after the supposed death of one of the largest JJ2 clans, GpW (Gurus of Proactive Warfare), Unhit had a chat with the clan leader of TT (Total Toasters): dopeh. I don’t think the meeting lasted long, because they soon revealed a plan to merge the two clans, in order to fill the ‘power vacuum’ left by GpW. After much frantic discussion and, surprisingly, opposition from Flash, a TT member, the Total Freaks clan was born. I’ve been with this clan ever since.

The months passed. I learnt a lot, mostly by experience, hardly anything by contemplation. I was made the vice-clanleader of TF, but was kicked off due to inactivity (that was when I supposedly left the community). I do not regret having been kicked off, because I don’t regard it as fair to let a 14-year-old such control over a large clan. No, I was too incapable at that young age, but puberty is truly an amazing miracle worker. I can hardly recognize myself when looking at my old logs. I’m always ready to admit failure or that I am wrong. It goes without saying that I’m also always prepared to fight to the finish if I believe in my cause strongly enough.

The last year of my time in the community have without doubt been the happiest ones. Finally I have a perception of what’s going on, and plenty of contacts to help, or to seek help from. Moreover, it doesn’t exactly hurt to be a very experienced jazzer in the JJ2 community. Some people just rise and rise, indefinitely, while others develop for a while, and then hit a sort of cap…a ceiling, if you will. The latter applies for my JJ2 skills. Nevertheless, and I don’t mean to be arrogant, I tend to think myself as someone who is mostly of the first kind of person. This doesn’t mean that I’m rising really or that I have risen to a particularly high level; it’s just the kind of mental attitude you get if you find that you’re learning new things in the community every day.

• Substitute administrator of anything related to the Total Freaks Party (as headed by Flash and Unhit)
• JDC official, by appointment of fellow official CelL and JDC administrator Bobby aka Dizzy
• JCF NOT HAPPY member, by appointment of JCF administrator Disguise after failing to be happy. >|
• Notice how I haven’t mentioned anything about what I’ve done on JCS until know.
