Finally time to review.

DESIGN
This seems to have a design. I instantly knew what was the language which was used in this lvl. Swedish. So, son of jazz, you’re swedish, right? Hmmm, or is this danish? I decided at first not to judge this section this time, because I didn’t find out at the start what could have been the design , whatever. So idea is to destroy some kind of an elevator? This idea could have deserved such 6 or something, but it was really confusing and hard to find out what to do, so a 4.

EYECANDY
It’s really poor. Only layers 8, 5, 4 and 3 seemed to be used. But those 5 and 3 were just for the, erm how could I explain? For that non-eyecandy stuff.
But it’s really poor and there were also lots of tile-placing problems.

ORIGINALITY
Trying to make a level with a different language, not original and even such a poor idea. Tileset is custom, music is basic, level’s your made. But really, you didn’t use some tiles like they should have been. And the idea of destroying an elevator, I think that’s the design or the destination, and that idea has been used before also.

GAMEPLAY
This level is also really small, there’s just nothing there. And some weird stuff there, like a hurt event which can’t be dodged. “The whole darkness” is also a bad idea. I’m just confused about that what to do. Well, I think that I just should give this section a 1, but there was something which may affect that I give this a 2. Yes, a 2.

STUFF PLACEMENT. No food, gems, ammo. There’s a shield, and a few hurt-events. Enemies are placed badly, but it could have been worse.

ENDING COMMENTS: So, why did I put ending comments before the point-counts? Well, you really should make some properful levels. I shocked when I saw other’s reviews about this. Even Sun fun dude who gave a smaller number than the others, still overrated in my opinion. But as so many was being rating so high I think this time that I’m rating too low. And also then I noticed that you were saying that this is your first level. I can’t be sure about that. But I’m anyways being fair and giving a total 1 more to the final rating. And this will be called as “exception.” Don’t worry even level rank might be Very bad level. It was your good one anyways. :)

OVERALL: 8:5=1.6=1.7+“Exception=1”=2.7

DESIGN
Ow! What a horrible design. Everything’s going just negative. And it’s sad and excessive. Not for me but think… There is a story what’s a design, but it could have been better. Nothing new even really.

I think this is the best point of the level but there still could have been more. A bit over basic. The falling and moving lava everywhere anyways grows these points.

ORIGINALITY
Pretty original idea and custom tileset, custom music but it doesn’t fit the level at all. Well, I don’t take off that point in this section but later. Hmmm, to destroy a crystal like in Tomb Rabbit, destroy croaking crystal. Well, I give it 8 anyways. Nothing new.

GAMEPLAY
Then the worst thing in tha level. It’s really small and easy, it can be done even under 30 seconds if you just run it through. Plus there’s a bridge bug that if you go too close to any edge, you fall to nothingness. Too easy also. Only one level, bah.

Some of this stuff is really weirdly placed. There isn’t any crates and really less even such pickups. Enemies are placed well.

LEVEL RANK: Questionable level (Yes. Now points between 4-4.7 are questionable. I’m trying to make my review-systems better all the time.)
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION: Not necessary. I think this is just some really small example how well the author can make eyecandy, etc. Author should make some fun for the people also, not just…this.

ENDING COMMENTS: So, next time make a big level and I even recommend to make an episode or a level pack, so you will really get higher rating, if you also take care about eyecandy and all that other stuff.

Level 1: Tufmans strike back.

Well… background and sprite eyecandy has been used badly, and you can swim off the ledge and out of the level. It’s impossible to clear the level for me, so you must skip to the next level. The tube turtles can’t save this one.

Level 2: Lost lab.

Overenemied, and the vines are used as bridges plus bad eyecandy. When you get to the end, you must find a suxor tube that disables some scenery and a checkpoint. Search the wall to find a warp to the top, where you battle more enemies (joy.) after shooting some blocks. There are some coins, and if you get them, you will be warped to the next area. If not, you get sent back to the start. Before you start, you get some fire, a fire powerup and a water shield. Then you hit a trigger box and move onto the area with the shooting blocks where the xit is.

Level 3 – Digital Dub

Bad eyecandy, hard gameplay as always. Also, there are a lot of 1ups, and you can get over the pit at the start without the fly carrot.

Level 4 – Flipping out

As usual there is bad eyecandy and hard gameplay. There is a guessing game where you can find a 1up in a crate where the others contain hatters, and the shooting blocks aren’t correct. If you find the end of the level Devan warps in and can jump off the level. It wasn’t really fun to play the boss, so I closed JJ2.

Overall you get a D- (1.2) for your efforts, but I hope to see another project in the future

Mmm… Let’s check out this new level of Dx, which will be my first race review… I have to change some points in my usual review I guess.

EYECANDY:
Standard Dx quality. For your convenience, this means GOOD. Dx knows how to use the Swamps tileset, and he can make really good levels wiht it (look at his survivors) In the beginning of the level, the eyecandy is really superb, but later I think he didnt have the spirit anymore to make more eyecandy, so he kept it simpler in the later parts of the level. The background is a little bit dull, just the brown tress. The tileset offers better, I guess.

FLOW:
The important thing in a Race level, how good is the flow? You can’t make it racelevel without a good flow, it slows down the gameplay and makes it boring. For race, a really good flow is needed to keep the game funny. The flow here is decent, There is enough open space to move and there are no big slowdowns which kill the flow (except the annoying blue spring maybe, but this is part of the game I guess) Overall, the flow is good enough, not the best.

GAMEPLAY:
And how does the game feel, really? Not that good. I’ve seen better race levels, but I’m not really a lover of the genre, so I accept it. The blue spring really kills a lot of the speed, but it makes the game more fun to play, especially in multiplayer (which player will get through the corrdidor first?) The gampelay is not bad, not really good. Maybe the dull eyecandy in later parts of the level help, and the music simply doens’t fit a race level (it’s far too slow and boring)

Not a bad attempt to create a race game, however, if the eyecandy in the later parts of the level was more interesting and the flow was a little bit better, this level could get rated way higher. Now, it’s somewhere in the middle-class.

Host: You can’t really host this one online, because it doens’t have online capacities.

Gameplay :

Well when you are travelling around this level it can be hard as Jazz as he has to take a certain route to get up quicker whoever for Spaz he can race back and forth from the CTF bases which are very close. Also there is some bones to run across which you can run underneath however when you do this you can easily get stuck which is a problem.

Eyecandy :

Well as Blurred said this tileset wasnt used properly. The background is horrible as soon as I saw it all you could see in the background were a whole load of moons ? It didn’t look very good.

Pick-Ups :

Weapons are placed in a few places and there is one full energy carrot. The power-ups are right next to the red base lots of blues were being killed because of this. So I’d say that the placement of weapons were bad and a no 1+ energy carrots.

Conclusion :

Sorry Skull but this gets a 2.5 I didn’t enjoy and I gt stuck many times. When you make your next level spend more time on it and get more people to test it and tell you what needs to be added before you add it to J20. Also work on the background for levels and dont make it look very bad.

Another swamp level?
Let’s review :-)

Gameplay/Design:
Gameplay is ok. It’s nothing special but ok. It has some ice guns (only ice? PUT IN TNT GUY) and uses springs and some other things. It isn’t very long, but for a race the size is good.
You should make coin based exit, so we can host over internet.

Eyecandy/Tileset Use:
Eyecandy was good. It looks like a jungle and there are some animations.
I also like the blinking arrow :-)
There are no tilebugs, and most tiles are used I think.

Enemy/Item/Ammo Placement:
Bad! There is only some freezer.
TNT or 3way can be very fun in races. but there’s only ice.

Other:
->music is bad >_<

Overall:
Overall it’s an ok race level using a good tileset and bad music.
Host: doesn’t use coin based exit so no hosting
Download: If you wanna see good eyecandy, yes
If you wanna see a REALLY good race level not
It’s ok

The basic lvl itself is quite good, especially the background! there were a few bugs and i did get stuck but the end there is only one way to get to the boss, if u fail, u have to cheat. also the boss jumps out of the room! The weapon placement was a bit arkward. next time border your lvl and spend more time on it and make it so that it is possible without cheats, if it was like that, i would have given it a 6.5.

The innovative names just keep coming. I wonder if this level has the same problems as the last level did…

GAMEPLAY:

While this level isn’t as linear as the previous one, it’s not much of a change. In fact, the gameplay is more unbalanced and Spaz-biased. It looks like it’s suppose to be three routes down and one route up, and Spaz players can go up every route. The bones are easy to get stuck under from beneath. The only other thing better about this level compared to the last one is that the left side has a border, but that might as well have been done by accident. The top, although it isn’t a major factor in this particular level, could use a border as well.

EYE CANDY:

The tileset, once again, wasn’t used correctly. I was expecting at least a little improvement in this field. The eye candy has pretty much the same problems as the last time. It appears that none of the layers were resized. Resize a layer by right-clicking on it, clicking on properties, then changing the numbers next to Width and Height; it’s simple enough. As for better eye candy, just look at good levels that use the tileset you want to use well.

CARROT AND AMMO PLACEMENT:

No carrot. Bad choice. Skulls planet at least had a full energy carrot and its placement wasn’t bad. This level also has weak powerup placement; the two powerups are both more convenient to access from red base than from blue. Ammo placement needs work as well. It’s just some ammo placed next to the ground in a few places.

HOST THIS OFTEN?

Definitely not. What ever happened to beta testing? 2.5, and next time loop the level to itself.

i well tell you the bug i saw and what i think of it 1st what i think of it

Tileset: i like the Tileset it is cool

Music: i know there is a Music Flie but it is not working

and the level is Short the boss area is to small to and make it so People dont fall and… the the 1st form of the boss runs out of the battle zone……. next time make the level biger and more ammo And when i mean Bigger I mean some hting like 70-200 or more

Duh, I played this already some time ago but I was too busy to review. So here’s a review.

DESIGN
It’s quite fun, for fun. It’s like a 2-part single level from JJ1. For fun-designs always get 8 if there’s no exceptions. If it’s for fun, then it has to be fun also.(I mean that some other guys use fun-factor section in their review, in my review Design is also fun-factor when the level is for fun, but it maximumly gets 8.)

It’s like in JJ1, there is enough it and there seemed not to be such tile-placing problems or eyecandy-bugs. Lol, Devan’s tank.

Let’s chech this new SkulL level out (I’m still in shock therapy about your sucking last level, so let’s see this one)

EYECANDY:
Not good. Actually, it is bad. However not as bad as in your previous level, that was created with some green tileset without a background, this still suxes. It has many tile errors, like R3ptile said, in the mountains, and on some other places. In the sprite layer not so many bugs.

AMMO:
Three kinds of average ammo are spread among dull places at the level, I guess it could have been a lot better. There are two worthless PU’s, a bouncy and a RF. Next time give more inspiration to this weapon placement.

LEVEL STRUCTURE:
Bad, really bad. The level is really small, like your previous one, and is doesn’t have any speical things. The level would have been better if you could walk around in it, because there owuld have been two different paths by then, but now you only have one route from one base to another and this route is suxing (the blokcs you have to jump on are idiotic, blablabla) The strcuture is boring, and the sad eyecandy doesn’t make it any better.

GAMEPLAY:
What gameplay, was the first question I asked myself here. Not a bad question I guess, because the good gameplay is far to seek here. There isn’t hardly any flow, and the missing to pborder makes the level vulnerable for flag bugs. Maybe use a btter tileset next time.

I’m NOT impressed, and this is the softest thing I can say about this level. Although, this level is better than your last one (which isn’t really hard, you couldn’t make it any worse) but really NOTHING more than that. If you go on like this, you levels will make a great deal on a World Champsionship of Worst CTF Levels Created in 2004.

Ok, here I go again.
First impressions: A level by ChippieBW, that seems to be good for a 3rd level. Let’s review it, shall we?

Gameplay: Good/Very Good. This is quite nice, but not too special. There is a good spring placement, but some one way above it would be better. For example, at the bases, you should put one way under the platforms. That would be nice, though. This level is big, and it has a nice layout in my opinion. The flow is quite nice too, good job to that. It’s easy to get around in this level, I like that too. There are tubes at the bases or under it that lead you to the top area, and when you go down you will be at the base(right and left of course). There is a warp that leads you to the full energy, I saw that many times, but this time you will mostly fall down. There is also good balance and the level is symmetrical. There is wind near the bases, too.
Conclusion gameplay: Pros: Good layout and flow. Cons: some one way would be nice at some places. The wind may be annoying sometimes too.

Eye candy/Tileset use: Good. Nothing really special here, it’s probably good enough. The tileset use isn’t as good as in better levels with this tileset, like Galactic Warfare, but that level didn’t have the best eye candy too. There is something at the left side in layer 5, and that’s also at the right side. There are also that moving things in layer 5, they look nice, but it’s not too good for eye candy here. There could be more in layer 5 and there is a thing in layer 3 that seems to be quite big. But at least, I liked the background
Conclusion eye candy: Pros: Nice background. Cons: Not too original eye candy and nothing special.

Pickup placement: Good/Very Good. This is much better, there is a nice ammo placement. There are 3 Power-Ups, and you get two of them with the Electro Blaster(gun9). The third PU is a RF PU, and it’s placed in the centre of the bottom area. There is also some fast fire in this level, and it’s probably enough. There is also a full energy, like I said, you get it with a warp. You need to know that warp, but it’s not too hard, that’s why there is good flow here. About placement again, the groups of ammo are mostly placed 6 × 3 ammo. There is more at some places, but there is also less at some places.
Conclusion pickup placement: Pros: Nice ammo placed. Cons: Power-Up placement could be more original.

Originality: Good. This is not too original, like R3ptile said, but I like the music here. And it’s also never used. This tileset isn’t overused, but after Galactic Warfare, it’s used alot more. That PU placement is also not too original, but what new can you make up? I don’t know, but I will probably have some idea.
Conclusion originality: Pros: Nice music. Cons: The others is not too original, but it’s decent.

Fun factor: This level is quite fun, but the way to the base is quite easy. It’s a big level, so that makes it harder to score faster. There may be too many space at some places, but I think it makes this level quite funny if there’s enough space.
Conclusion Fun factor: Pros: There is enough space. It’s a big level so you can’t score too fast. Cons: the way to the base is boring.

Others:
Host this: Sometimes.
Download: Sure.
Final Rating: 7.4-7.5.
Conclusion level: A nice level by ChippieBW, with nice gameplay and placement, but could be more original and could have more eye candy too.

Okay I will review it only because it is made for me :) and I like it.

First of all I have to say that Wasted time was better than this one but I still like it.
The idea is original – I see that now you also Have used textured Background as waterfall (Ithink that Eviil Mike has used it in one of his level).

Gameploay is really good here – there are many “rooms” and ammo placement is rather good. Sorry but I will end my review now so I am giving you an 8.
