I've been too lazy to work on my Christmas Fun Pack lately, mostly because of school and the fact that I've just not been in the mood lately. Expect it by the 15th. (Damnit, I should stop postponing it!)
Also, just started on this level: ![]() Also: ![]() And yes, the lava/ec in the background is auto-scrolling. Last edited by Jimbob; Nov 29, 2008 at 04:05 PM. |

I agree the lava should be lower, its really messing up with the overall perspective. Makes Jazz and the ground he is on look like its jutting out at an angle. Things get really messy in the first screenshot where it looks like you're infront of a wall of lava but then you notice that the lava tiles at the top.
Everything else looks decent though. |

I dislike the way you made the caves for the way they look so "box" like. Sure, it's partly the tileset's fault but I believe with a little effort they could be made to look more natural. Look at what Blur did with the caves in Dawn of Combat, for example. I also dislike the fact that you used those sprite layer tiles in the background like that; it looks kinda nonsensical, especially what appears to be a floating gargoyle (?)
Despite that, there's something about those screens that catches my eye, although not really sure what it is. |

Something I've found by talking to people is that they tend to use the blaster in single player, even when other ammunition is plentiful. I found a way to solve this in a certain low-gravity water level I am making.
Force players to run through a section with a fire shield, which is needed to get past a certain obstacle at the end. There will be enemies blocking your way, but the shield makes it impossible to use your blaster. Funny I never thought of doing this before. Water levels are so boring without gimmicks like this. I'm also tempted to make a section which is infested with rats, but something tells me that under-water rats is a bit too ridiculous, even for me.

The best example I remember seeing of combating that issue (sheer blaster proliferation) was Odin's HH'05 Remix, where the enemies were so cunningly placed that I found myself needing to use particular weapons to get by each area. I have an idea, though, albeit even less conventional than your brilliant solution... *will be back later tonight*

Enemy placement is definitely the best way to encourage people to use weapons. People always tell me my episodes are very hard but if you make liberal use of the weapons you find it's not so bad. Most other episodes are the same way, and the one you linked is definitely a great example of that.
It's also an example of yet another download which n00b downloaded 50 thousand times.

Alright, I'm using rats under water. I can't help it. I just love how high they jump.
Beware the dreaded albino platypus!

Can you make a Steadfast Tin Soldier reference in there somewhere? I'd do it but I don't think I have a sewer scene in anything I'm working on.

Is it just me or is the screenshot quality in the download page utterly ridiculous?

By 'Destroyed Toy Fortress' I'm just referring to the fact that it has a dark atmosphere, even though it includes such playful objects.
And thank you for your welcomes, everybody. I'll try not to be an (-)(-)(-) this time. EDIT: Grace is almost done. The same time I left the community, I stopped working on it, but it will be ready soon. Let's just call it a Christmas present.

Orange vertical lines and some text.
I think we have a winner here. The question is, how long will this be uploaded for before you delete it?

You should still release your levels. Maybe I'd like to play them.

Okay, so you upload a picture of a level you're working on showing nothing but orange lines and vertical text. Mike points out that there's nothing of substance in the picture, I reply with an ICE BURN emoticon. Instead of being the bigger man and ignoring instigation, you whine that the community is acting immature and threaten to never release the pack. Upon further instigation, you act like a 3 year old and stamp your feet and hold your breath.
And we're immature? It's the (-)(-)(-)(-)ing Internet. Get over it. |

You should totally delete it. Make a dom point instead. Even better, an END LEVEL event. Yah. Make is a single player level. 70x70 tiles. It should ROCK.
