J2Ov2 Bug Report

Well, now that J2Ov2 is out (http://www.jazz2online.com/) there will be a few bugs. Some we know of, others we may not. Feel free to report them here and we will resolve them as soon as possible.

Some known ones follow.

FUNCTIONALITY
* Profile preferences were not correctly converted, namely time zone and Who's Online visibility. SOLUTION: Fix this manually.
* Helpful Reviews is not entirely done.
* RabbitJournal displays AB10 site comments. [Feature, not bug. -FQuist]
* When receiving a PM, the author field is empty. (SlaYo)
* When viewing All Files by a certain author, if you change pages, it will take you to that page on the main downloads list. (Unknown Rabbit) [Fixed - FQuist]
* The default upon registration for Who's Online is invisible.
* IP addresses are not logged upon registration.

CONTENT
* The dragonfly isn't just in the Jungle tileset. It can also be found in Psych. Fix this listing. (Blackraptor)
* Rocket Turtle is missing from the End Bosses page, and Bilsy is in his black outfit, despite being described as the Xmas version. (Unknown Rabbit)
* In "Creation of Jazz Jackrabbit", the Start and Return text links work, but the images aren't links. They feel like they should be. (Unknown Rabbit)
* The "Did You Know??" panel should not have two question marks. This looks bad and is not correct grammar.

While trying to change themes, the link that requests you login leads back to j2ov1 login and only logs you in there.

* Lizard is not only in Carrotus and Colon, but as well as in **** (the very last level) (applies to float lizard as well)
* Norm turtle is also in psych
* Bat is not only in castle but in the **** levels
* Helmut can also jump at you (2-3 tiles approx.)
* Freezer ammo could also be used strategically to freeze someone so they cannot move, then kick/stomp/uppercut them
* For old reviews j2o puts in the date under the year of 1970 or so O.o.

All for now..

Themes.php appears to be missing an ob_start() function or something of the like as the headers are sent out prior to the cookies (i think?)...
Site Links under 'j2l' for disguise's site takes you to the tomb rabbit website.

Edit: Agree with post "a few posts down", some private messages are un-clickable.
Is there supposed to be a footer / copyright on the main page?

More content crap

Having Norm Turtles listed below just two locations is plain stupid, having those appears almost everywhere, including demo Labrat level. Same with Dragonflies, in demo Diamondus one.

[QUOTE=Agent Cooba]ONLY Float Lizards.
[QUOTE]

Aye, but Float Lizards shot down become lizards ;D
As for the Norm Turtle, I am aware it appears only once or so, but still appears.

Also, for some new reviews such as http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/dow...p?levelID=3346
it says there are 0 reviews and the rating of the file is 0, yet Trafton has a review there rating it an 8.2. (At least last time I checked)

EDIT #1: http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/nod...le=aboutSequel <-Broken picture in middle of text plz thx.

In the user profile, the "Files by this user" link looks bad and sends you to a 404.
In List Reviews: "This script is just plain wrong. Needs to be fixed (-Bobby)"

Broken images: http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/nod...le=aboutSequel
http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/art...p?articleID=32

http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/nod...title=jcsIndex - Disguise's Tileset Resource links to Tomb Rabbit instead.

In the pictures section, when you sort by a specific type, a database error occurs.
And when there's a database error, the page footer gets lost.

On http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/user/profile.php
"Warning: Missing argument 2 for domessage() in /home/jazz2on/public_html/J2Ov2/includes/inc.html.php on line 9"
Also an invalid ID to this profile page returns a blank page. No error, no header, no nothin'.
Other pages where you give a bad ID, it returns a database error.

There are some misleading thingies in descriptions of official levels:

"Dungeon Dilemma"
In the final version, this level contains spikes which do not actually hurt the player. Oddly, though, they worked fine in the beta.

They work fine for me, and i have 1.24.

"Tossed Salad"
This level features frees which can be shot to make them fall down.

trees*

"Weirder Science"
If you find the secret in this level, you can get to a cool bonus called Birdland.

Lies. No entrance to labrat3.j2l on Weirder Science at all.

"Loose Screws"
This is the only level in the single player to feature speed blocks, which collapse when you run through them.

Err... Retro Rabbit also had those.

"Funky Grooveathon"
Also, beware of the spoikes

Spikes*

"Medieval Kineval"
Game artist Nick Stadler has said that the gargoyles in the Medivo levels were his favorite things in the entire game to draw.

They were ONE OF THOSE.

"Snow Bunnies"
Cliff Blezsinksi

(aaaah) Bleszinski*

Blacky : That bug in Violet's tileset turned out today, before switching to J2Ov2. (fix your post because my quote is barely readable)

Actually...that isn't a bug. 1.21-1.23 servers have the same properties, and the same version number. The list server, in fact, lists 1.23 games as 1.21.

A few more known bugs:

When reuploading a level there is a Major change which claims to send private messages out. This does not happen yet.

Updating CSS in changing styles gives permission error.
People have problems with editing their reviews for their own levels.
Usage of html crashes some j2o places due to Textile system (Fixed -Link)

Reviews aren't always sorted by date when there are no helpful ratings. This can possibly because of edits updating the timestamp(?) - thanks to LRK

This is nitpicky and may not be considered a bug, but:
In the description for "Skeleton's Turf" it mentions it's one of the few levels to not have a pun or rhyme in the title. It should also mention alliterations as a common feature of level names. "Jungle Jump", "Turtle Town", "Retro Rabbit", "Dungeon Dilemma" etc.)

Good job guys. Found some more bugs:

When retrieving your password, if you choose the "Username" option and only put in your email (or vice versa) there is an error message. The error message should be more helpful as in mentioning what you did wrong (like how most forms act after you filled them out ie. required fields etc.) instead of what it is now.

"Local Play Splitscreen" and "Internet and Network Play" headings should be switched.
[EDIT: Seems to be fixed.]

Biggest bug I've found yet:
On the side panel of the front page, every module under the mini GIP does not show. That is why the "Google J2O" option does not show by default.

And one feature request: A levelgroup field for download submissions. That way you could sort by levelgroup, etc.

Here's another one:
In the multiplayer FAQ, the very last question (the "white line" one. Obviously about laser shields.) is non-existant. It's in the list of questions, but isn't in the actual FAQ.

-Show my IP field in the GIP area of the site only shows the IP the web request was made from, a lot of ISP's theses days put customers on web proxys for browsing websites therefore it doesnt show the persons real IP.

-List Server Patch in the GIP area is of the outdated Contraband Patch, latest patch (which is also in the Bash news post) is: http://www.jazz2online.com/serverlist/serverpatch.zip (Fixed -Link)

I don't have much bugs to report, but I do have some comments on the layout.

1) I couldn't find what the images next to levelnames stand for. Ofcourse, afetr a little thinking it became clear Lori=TSF and Savepoint=Tip, but it could be made a little easier (maybe make an option to switch bewteen TSF and ?)
2) Could it be posisble to make the Links section remember the order you want to see the links in? When I want to check for newly added links, it's easier when they are sorted by date.
3) The header keeps displaying "games in progress" as title, for some reason (I mean the text beneath Jazz & Spaz) EDIT: It appears that this is a link, nevermind
4) I couldn't find the page to customize the looks of J2O I mainly wanted to do this because the links look like headers/titles and not like Links (maybe make them a little lighter, grey or something?)
5) Still no option to include a screenshot with your upload
6) The Helmut jumps at you on the "hard" difficulty level
7) The Sparks only moves towards you when you turn your back to him
8) A couple of other things I migth write about later

9) A few newlines are missing at the credits page (example: Spazzyman - Coding (GIP) Trafton - Content Editor, Administration - no newline between (GIP) and Trafton
10) Is there a quicker way to get to the pictures page than forntpage>other>member pictures?
11) forget problem 4, found it but you might want to add a field for customizing link colors, instead of forcing people to use the CSS editor (not everyone knows CSS)
12) ...Customizing and then clicking "Customize!" gives an error... Main error: Warning: fopen(/home/jazz2on/public_html/J2Ov2/media/css/user281.css): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/jazz2on/public_html/J2Ov2/themes.php on line 53
13) The "games in progress" table on the front page is really big, no matter how much games there are
14) Big pictures still mess up the site... how about automatically resizing them when they are bigger than [x]x[x] pixels?
15) Also, pictures are not centered while the rest of the content is. This might be a "feature", though :P
16) The " [Report Review] [Edit Review] [Delete Review] [All reviews by this user]" links at the bottom of reviews are sort of distracting... I'd suggest to make them smaller or place them in a seperate <tr>
17) broken image at http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/nod...le=aboutSequel
18) probably some things I still missed :P

* http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/user/memberlist.php -- Everyone has 0 posts and reviews (Disguise)
* I can't access some of my private messages, there's nothing to click to link to it. I assume it's the messages without a subject (as the subject of the message is the link used to direct to them) but I could be wrong. Example image below (notice the gap). (Disguise) [Fixed - FQuist]
* When reuploading a level there is a Major change which claims to send private messages out. This does not happen yet. (Bobby)
* Updating CSS in changing styles gives permission error. (FQuist) [Fixed - FQuist]
* People have problems with editing their reviews for their own levels. (FQuist) [Fixed- Fquist]
* Usage of html crashes some j2o places (FQuist) [Fixed by Link - FQuist]
* Reviews aren't always sorted by date when there are no helpful ratings. This can possibly because of edits updating the timestamp(?) (FQ & LRK)
* When retrieving your password, if you choose the "Username" option and only put in your email (or vice versa) there is an error message. The error message should be more helpful as in mentioning what you did wrong (like how most forms act after you filled them out ie. required fields etc.) instead of what it is now. (Steeltalon)
* Biggest bug I've found yet:
On the side panel of the front page, every module under the mini GIP does not show. That is why the "Google J2O" option does not show by default. (Steeltalon)
* When editing a review with a rating on it, the rating does not show up in the rating box. (Trafton)
* -Show my IP field in the GIP area of the site only shows the IP the web request was made from, a lot of ISP's theses days put customers on web proxys for browsing websites therefore it doesnt show the persons real IP. (Nimrod)

I love this bug!

If I edit someone else's review of my own upload, it doesn't allow me to let the review have a rating, as that would be rating my own upload. If I set the review to N/A, I have to give a N/A Download Rec as well. Somewhat impractical, but I love the failed logic.

Ok, apparently when you upload something, it gives you a nice error message which causes the user to assume it didn't upload properly. Could we get a "This file was submitted properly" page in there?

The credits page apparently lists Nimrod as having been responsible for Newspaz. Either that or it's missing a line break.

My bug report about Norton Internet Security 2004 and this site got eaten by the old host, so I'll repost the part that I remember. The PMs that I sent about it (in the main site) also got eaten.

Anyway, if you try to download a file using IE with Norton enabled it'll sit there downloading the file (with IE claiming to be "getting information about the file"), and then leave you with a 0-byte file with whatever name. Disable Norton, and it prompts for a filename, then downloads the file quite happily except IE doesn't seem to know how big the file is.

As a possible solution, I'd suggest adding to the HTTP response the size of the file (Content-Length header IIRC). I think I have some packet captures of it kicking about, so I can post them if they'd help.

JCSRef doesn't work, just when I wanted to submit my MCE article >8((((

Also, Arjan Brussee doesn't work for Lost Boys games, but for Guerilla (http://plu1.pluhosting.com/~jazz2onl...le=aboutBefore)

Broken image at http://plu1.pluhosting.com/~jazz2onl...le=aboutSequel (too lazy to check if it has been reported before)

Dragonfly also appears in Beach levels (too lazy to check if it has been reported before)

On the hard difficulty level, the Norm Turtle will hide in his shell when you come near

The Rapier obviously also appears in the Haunted House levels. The Devil, Raven, Bat and Skeleton also appear in those levels.

The Doggy Dog, Fat Chick, Tuf Turtle, Norm Turtle, Raven and Bat also appear in the Town levels.

Norm Turtle also appears in the Easter levels... looks like you forgot TSF in the descriptions :P (http://plu1.pluhosting.com/~jazz2onl...?title=badGuys)

Where's the mysterious Blue Ghost in the enemies list?
