Version 6.6h of JJ2+ is now available!

For a while now, JJ2+ has packaged its various settings files—plus.ini, admin.ini, and LevelList.ini—inside plus_install.exe, which would add any settings you were missing but wouldn’t overwrite your existing settings in your existing .ini files. This model worked great for most people, but not for people stuck using Windows XP, and notably not for people who used GOG.com’s installers instead of ours.

That became a lot more important recently, as JJ2+ recently became available as a standalone “one-click” mod on GOG! To celebrate this and welcome new players, there is now an entire JJ2+ website listing all the numerous features and fixes by category, with lots of jazzy screenshots and other graphics, not to mention a startlingly popular trailer.

As a result, 6.6h generates those .ini files when you run JJ2+ instead, which is compatible with any way you obtain JJ2+.

It even generates a brand new file, PlayList.ini, which is used in a new Playlist feature. Many levels have good music… and some don’t. Sometimes the music repeats too quickly. Sometimes the levels cycle too often and it’s jarring to hear the music keep changing. And sometimes you want to listen to your module music collection but don’t have a convenient way to do that. For all those problems, JJ2+ gives you playlists, which are like a media player program that only cares about the music in your JJ2 folder.

Another new on-launch JJ2+ trick is editing the windows registry to more reliably support fullscreen. And in other news, the overtime scoring conditions from 6.5 have been revised, there are some miscellaneous fixes, and “The Secret Files” is no longer on the top of the episode list… that last one was previously available to GOG players, but now it’s available to everyone else too.
