Heh, this level seems rather familiar to me, too. For some weird reason, i already had the Battle version in my TSF folder.
However, no matter how old it is, its still very good. Both, layout (including weapon selection) and eyecandy are very well made.
MEZ!‘s second tileset is pretty underused, but Newspaz really made a good map out of it.
Because i’m not the born CTF fanatic, i recommend you, the players, to use this as a Battle level as well. Its fun.
You should not miss "The Blue, White, Red and Green" (which is the actual, boring title of the level). Simply click on the link that says "DOWNLOAD!" :-)
P.S.:
Uh…no music! Very bad idea!!! And your excuses are too cheap, New. I actually hate levels without music so please put a bg tune next time :-)
Hehe, Disguise always surprises me with something new and different. I really like that :-)
The tileset he used for "Simple Battle" is…well…simple (only 54 tiles) but kinda effective. The level design is, like always, very open and very playable which makes it a fun battle. Not to mention the good weapon placement.
The level even has some nice eyecandy represented by those arty geometric shapes in the background.
The music choice is good, but to be honest, its not my favourite tune. Its melody is still to…you guessed it…simple.
Very lucky, low seven points because i find this kinda original! DOWNLOAD NOW and see yourself.
P.S.: Most 5-year-olds will like this, too, ehehe ;-)
Well, its only 40 KB so i don’t care too much. Could still be a waste of diskspace, because this is only a BMP, 700*440 pixels large, that shows about 20 pictures of various animations from the Jazz2 bosses. Very, very boring in my opinion. No need to download this except you really need the pictures.
By the way, KJAZZ, AFAIK, there will be a links section at J2O soon :-)
"Red and White CTF" uses a pretty funky tileset by Blink. The level design is below the average: it is way too small, has horrible weapon placement, loads of useless powerups. There isn’t much of what we call eyecandy either (only some scrolling background layers).
To sum it up, not necessarily worth a download if you know what i mean :-)
Bad short review frome me also. Sorry.
Uh…another level inspired by this japanese comic invasion. It uses the Dragonballz tileset by Splash and Payback, which wasn’t that bad actually (at least i rated it seven points back then).
Furthermore, the author tried to use a "room" concept (yes, its a kind of a hotel actually…bad idea). However, design and eyecandy (at least there is some…not bad!) are definitely below the average. As the other reviewers mentioned, there are some minor flaws like hurt events also. Not to mention all teh spelink arroorz :-)
And well…the author obviously tried her best so my advice is: keep trying!
Unfortunately i can’t give a download recommendation (low four points).
P.S.:
Electric, your sister shouldn’t change her nick too often. I think i remember her as "Togepi" or something :-)
Cool: Another Diamondus level from the Netherlands! I really think this is one of Laguna’s best levels so far.
The design is awesome, super fluent, playable and the eyecandy is very interesting and original, too!
Despite its new (released some minutes ago), i even think this is a true classic. It has the same quality like the original Epic battles or the ones that Jeh made. Very high seven points from me. I’m undecided and its possible that i will re-rate it to eight someday. Lets see how things develope :-). Anyways, that doesn’t stop me from saying that "A shot for a diamond" is HiGLY RECOMMENDED! GET iT NOW!
P.S.: Thanks to the admins, that they didn’t delete my old review before i copied it to the proper version of the level :-)

P.S.: Unfortunately, the next level setting didn’t work for me (major downfall when playing online).
Ah, le train de Monsieur Gargoyle! C’est une TGV (train de grand vitesse), oui?
Ack…forgot my rudimental french. I am not sure but i think i saw that "train" idea before in some servers. Of course, i don’t know who had it first so no offense.
Lets stick to the facts: this level is bad. It has nearly no design, only a bit of eyecandy (the train in the background) and some tile placement bugs. And last but not least it is way too small to get a higher rating.
Like iCeD already said, this isn’t worth the bandwidth to download, sorry. Spend more time on your levels, Gargoyle. Same thing…blahblah…sorry :-)
P.S.: Next level setting missing/wrong.
"Factory CTF" is a great pack: its also a kind of an example level for MetalWarriors "Factory 3D" tileset, which looks very cool.
The tileset has a spiffy 3D look, many useful structures (+ some signs etc.), a nice background and looks pretty beautiful (dark atmosphere and lots of red colour values) even if the author had problems with the palette.
The CTF level is a first class creation either: it has a great design (i’m not a CTF expert but the base placement seems to be fair) and some good layerwork. The "hell" music fits well here.
All in all, mainly because of the tileset, i give out unbelievable (LOW) eight points here :-) Every real Jazz2 fan should DOWNLOAD THiS NOW!
Coolness, good ole’ JelZe found the time to finish his "Deep Space" level! I kinda beta-tested this level in JelZe’s laggy servers (;-) and you could really see how he improved everything step by step, week by week.
First of all, "Deep Space Slaughter" (bit violent, the name) uses the awesome Cyberspaz 1a tileset by DethMan which i never saw in any level before as far as i remember.
The design is great, quite open and cicular and all platforms are connected with each other. The only downside is that the weapon placement is a bit unfair in my opinion (too few weapons in some areas).
I also found lots of beautiful eyecandy parallaxing in the fore and background layers.
The background music is "Razorback" by Skaven^FC which is definitely not my favourite track by him (actually i really don’t like it and i still think its way too big).
But all in all, JelZes new level ranks in my Top 50 list so far. Incredible (VERY LOW) eight points! I recommend this as A MUST DOWNLOAD cause i’m in the mood :-) Lets battle!!!
Oh well, i don’t have much to add to FoD’s nice long review.
KJAZZ obviously tried to make something big like a single player episode including three levels and two small intro/outro levels. Unfortunately, the mission completely failed this time.
The intro isn’t worth mentioning (just some text events) and in the levels i found too many major tile placement flaws (e.g. background is all wrong in two of the levels).
There are some good ideas (i liked the “falling rock pyramid” :-) and also some nice puzzles and excercises. But they were too easy and the lack of design and eyecandy in most places is too obvious. Furthermore, the music choice doesn’t fit that good in some levels (“Underwater” music for a Tubeelecric level? Nah…).
Overall, i can’t give a download commendation here (low 4 points). Sorry. Keep smiling and keep trying, KJAZZ.
But seriously: you should really beta-test your levels online with friends or helpful people (or e-mail your levels to them to let them test).
Its not a good idea to use J2O as a kind of a beta testing site with us reviewers as your beta-testers :-)
P.S.: PLEASE spend more TiME on your levels. REALLY!
In this context time means: at least 10 hours!
P.P.S.: The music for the boss level is by finnish tracker Quasian.
What else did you expect: Blade’s 6th tileset is completely amazing!
As the finnish master himself already mentioned, the set looks pretty techno-futurish this time. Its great!, exciting!, something different! It includes lots of useful tiles and metal structures and…ack…see yourself! I love it!
As always, Blade (member of the iSDN conspiracy ™ included an example level that has a great, open layout and loads of beautiful eyecandy and allows super fluent gameplay and battle fun.
The background module, even if we know it already, is absolutely STUNNiNG. Thats all i can say. Very very high eight points! Scandinavia rocks!
I pretty much agree with ElectroPizza here (btw you can EDIT your reviews!).
“The Grand Diamondus Level” is (despite its boring name) a decent battle map.
Everything from design and weapon placement to eyecandy is well-made in my opinion.
Of course, there are still some minor puzzling facts: e.g. there is way too much of free space in the upper right corner of the level. Also, my rating is influenced by the “Diamonuds inflation”: the more average Diamonuds levels there are, the less each new one is worth.
However, my overall impression is good and thats why EVERY BATTLE FAN SHOULD DOWNLOAD THiS (very very low seven points :-)
"Photon A" has a pretty good layout (which esspecially battle fans will like), but unfortunately there is hardly any eyecandy. Also, it is very small (not to say too small :-) and could get a bit boring after a short time. Besides, Diamondus is not my favourite tileset and overused in average levels.
Somehow i’m unsure if i should recommend a download here. Decide for yourself.
P.S.: The author forgot to set the next level setting. The usual annoying bug when playing on the net…
About 500 Jazz2 fans out there and theres noone who wants to rate levels. Sigh. But hey, if nobody wants to review it, i will do.
This level is special because its actually a dedication to Cmdr. Dats for his birthday. Nice idea, but unfortunately i have no clue how to rate it. Besides, why the heck did you choose the HH98 tileset if Dats’ birthday is in early November? Bad idea.
The design (open and round) and the eyecandy are pretty good as always in Disguises levels. But alas there is this big "Happy Birthday" message in the background that was edited into the tileset (thats the only change btw) and makes the level pretty unplayble. Another minor flaw i found is that the author obviously had trouble with his palettes. In some places the background shines thru’ objects (e.g. trees) so that it seems like he accidentelly used the transparent color there.
Now, to mention something good: THE BACKGROUND MODULE IS TERRIFIC!!! Well, its from Finland and you know, those guys just rock! Listen to it! Incredible! 10 Minutes long!
But all in all, i am completely undecided. I’ll give low 6 points for now. Maybe i’ll change the rating once in a while :-)
Uh, seems like KJAZZ is flooding J2O with all levels he/she ever made. I don’t know if thats a good idea.
However, this level is not the worst of them.
Apart from the spelling error in the filename (“Anicent”!?) most other parts in this level make it seem like it was made in a hurry. There are way too many savepoints and therefore its too easy and also too short.
The design is not that bad, but there are the usual tile placement/layer mistakes: for example: if you use a fore layer to hide Jazz you need to mask everything around it, too, to make Jazz hide completely).
The level uses the pretty good “fantasy world” tileset by “The Killer”.
Conclusion: there are some nice puzzles and ideas but it still not enough to be average (high 4 points!).
NOTE: As Fquist already mentioned…you need to spend lots of hours and hours to make something good that will get a average rating higher than 5 here. Please, think about that!
First off all, the “infinite fall” is a very, VERY bad idea. NEVER put something like that in a level again.
Apart from that major bug, there are some minor tile placement errors (e.g. if you make a sucker tube, use a foreground layer for the tiles AROUND the tube, too!). The authors attempts to put some eyecandy are okay (not bad actually) but the design is very confusing. No fluent battling possible. The level uses the famous “7th Lava Fall” set (which IS NOT iNCLUDED!) and very techno like background music (dubu99.xm).
Overall, i can’t give a download recommendation. Sorry, only four points from me here.
Okay, okay: maybe the creator of this level tried his best. Unfortunately, it didn’t succeed. Unfinished tile placement all around (use layers!), useless powerups and too easy but pretty confusing "challenges". Besides, MEZ01 is easy too use and the music is cheap. Not worth the download, diskspace and webspace in MY opinion.
Would be cool, if you, KJAZZ, could spend more time on your levels (believe me, even one single level needs hours and hours) and if you made A REAL GOOD ONE, post it here. Thank you!
D’uh, i already wrote a review for this level but obviously Fquist deleted it without a warning :-)
However, it’s still a great level (bit improved maybe, i didn’t found out) that has a very good, open layout and quite a bit of what we call eyecandy. It also uses one of my Top 5 favourite tilesets and therefore produces a great “winter atmosphere”. Conlusion: If i was you, i would really DOWNLOAD THIS right now! After that, i’d host a battle server (hint).
Indeed, only “true fans” of the TV series will like this. The “Springfield” level uses a custom tileset called “Carnival 2” (which isn’t very good IMO) and has a hotel like layout (many warps and stuff). Again, there is both, bad tile and event placement throughout the level.
Besides, i’m neither fan of the Simpsons nor of hotel levels. So it’s only three points here and i can NOT give a download recommendation here.
P.S.:
The background music is not included but i had it anyways and its just a bunch of Simpsons samples (no melody).
