“Futuristic Times” has one big problem: its not really a battle level (despite the author describes it as one) but not really a single player level either.
The whole design (which is quite good at the beginning in the upper left corner, but then gets worse in the lower right corner) would better fit for a SP map. A battle level should be circular and allow easy navigation.
The eyecandy is also good at the beginning (see? thats the problem: a good battle level never has a beginning at all) but then loses quality in the other areas of the map.
The JJ1 3D Bonus stage music fits quite good for MEZ levels, i think.
To conclude my review…“Futuristic Times” is definitely below the average and therefore not really a top candidate for a download. It just needs some more work (low four points).
Oh and “stenace”, reviews are never meant as personal attacks but as objective (at least we hope so) comparisons with other levels. We just want to help creating the largest list of homecooked stuff for J2 to make peoples download decisions easier. We can’t rate certain levels higher just ‘cause they were made by a beginner. If you want to discuss this, i invite you to visit the JMMB.
P.S.:
Wrong next level setting (leads to a level thats not in the pack).
beginner or pro it doesnt matter.
if u want high ratings go build a good lvl. we cant give a newbie 8s and 9s just cos hes newbie that wouldnt be fair
I some how have my brains on puzzles but how are my levels tedious!!Genotoxin aka Iced…..You’re a bum! quit dissin a beginner’s levels so badly!!!!!!!!!!!
Why does everyone hate my stages so much??!!!!I’m just a beginner ya kno. Be nice you’re all discouraging me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and just becuz i do puzzles to get to battle zones you don’t hav to hate it!!!!!!!!In fact i always try to do best on eyecandy!!!
=(stanace)=Yet again a below average level. Uses the MEZ03 tileset, has okay eye candy, a strange (kind of hotel like) layout, along with some sort of puzzle like thing needed to get into the main battle place. Not very interesting. The puzzle idea isn’t original, and is quite tedious. (I mean, c’mon, I had to use jjcoins to get out of it), also the eye candy is kind of confusing at times.
Overall I was undecided about a rating.. so I settled on 3.5. Not worth a d/l IMO.
I’ll rate this very soon :-)
And by the way, as iCED already said, i don’t like the fact that “Fastrack.j2b” is included in the ZiP: it’s a MASSiVE waste of web- and diskspace.
Despite okay eye candy, I really don’t like this too much. It had a linear layout with a basic design. “Puzzle” related levels usually don’t make for good battle levels. Especially since puzzles are usually linear. Take this for example.. the bg and use of different tiles wasn’t bad, but overall I can’t see much of a reason to download this. Sorry.
Btw, don’t include official music files like fastrack.j2b in your ZIP. It just adds to the download time and wastes J2O server space.
