HEY! I like the colonius set! :)
I know it’s too big, that was the point, I actually wanted a big level that could do wonders for a full server. You never get those lately, so it was a bad idea, but I still wanted it big in case :)
I was quite the weapons placement freak back then, so it’s pretty normal to see lotsa weapons from my previous releases, I give you my full permission to rate the levels as low as you want because of that :)
Oh yes, I wanted to add somehting else. If u would’ve spent just a few more hours working on an example level showing how to use the tiles properly ur rating would’ve been boosted. Tilesets can look like a proper mess after being put together, and if a person would have to look at the mess instead of what the tileset is capable of they would not rate it as high. Never rush a tileset.
NOTE: I’m not saying ur tileset looks like a mess, that’s just an example.
No example level, bad, I like having a look at how the designer of the set uses the set for the purpose he made it for. For me a set without an example level is incomplete.
Some nice textures and gradient effects, the set is mostly green, very small, but i’m sure that’s not a problem looking at the quality of the tiles :)
The set was made in two days, i would rather not congratulate you because of fear that an epidemic might start to see who made their set the fastest. I’m actually tempted to rate it a little lower because of that, but because i’m a good guy i’d rather not. There is now way I can tell how much pre-planning was made, and the other reason is some of my sets were made in the same time, but those included weeks and weeks of pre-planning.
lol, i have a fan, YAYAYA!! dances around
ok, jokes aside. errr, wait, keep the jokes here. No japanese pocket monsters, LOL! I find that funny. THREE CHEERS FOR AIKO!!! (did i mention i’m an aiko fan? ;)
Not that I’m a top rater or anyhting, but i would rate a self-made tileset that looks as bad as this one higher than one filled up with a bunch of japanese pocket monsters. The whole point of making a tileset is that it is your own work. I haven’t seen a level taken directly from sonic or anyhting. Noooo, you ppl would say he cheated and took it from somewhere else. Blah, that annoys me. At least be original people. Stop trying to hunt for a good rating early. There isn’t one JJ2er I can think of whose first level was an absolute masterpiece. Take me for an example. My first level was an empty room with a bunch of airboards. My first tileset had almost nothing except for a nice background i took from another program. Some of you might think Ultimate World was my first tileset, it is actually my fifth. Rush Hour is my 21st Tileset.
As for your last comment Shadow. I am busy making another tileset as I am writing this here comment, a proper one. The expected release date is 20 October 2000. This is a little added to the time I think I will make it, but unlike Blizzard I add to my release date rather than shorten it to dissapoint ppl. Usually my tilesets get done a lot faster. I made ultimate hotel in 12 hours, blue world in 48 hours. This does not include planning, now THAT takes time. Usually about 2 weeks MINIMUM! Although ultimate world was about one week with planning. I can say that my new set is past planing, i have everyhting whacked into a nice text file :)
So, uhhh, shadow, MINE tileset should be done soon evil grin
This is a very nice level. Even though it is a bit larger than ur other levels, it is still small. About 4 players should be nice. Some bugs in the tiling, but those are very minor and should not discourage you to download this level. I love the design, vewwy nice :)
As I said, the reason I made this level will be revealed later, simple is one of the main focuses, this might sound funny, but yes, I wanted to make this level simple. I’m sure you will understand later.
Hehe, I must admit this one was a "rushed" production. Made it on 1 Setember and finished it on 1 September. Only on spring day did I think of making a lil’ celebration lvl for the extremely small amount of jazzers in the Southern Hemisphere :)
Anyways, it’s spring now so there is no more cold nights for me!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!! dances around
Hehe, yes, kinda tiny, especially for me. I’ve passed the limit by over 100 tiles before, a real bad thing to do is remove sections of ur tileset. You feel like you wasted your time and hard work on somehting ppl will never see. Ah well, cramping up seems to help a lot!
NOTE: I’d much rather cut ot 300 tiles of my tileset than only make it available for TSF, or mybe release two versions, U will NEVER! see me make a tileset only fir TSF.
Lag really is a major setback, I tried to play htis over the network with Distruct on my other P200mmx, but even on the lowest detail and stuff he was waaay too slow to do anyhting. I’d say 233mhz will still be a bit slow, a P2 233mhz is minimum requirements, If you want to run this on a proper speed I’d say P2 300mhz should be enough. The lag might be a big problem, but the design of the level is out of this world, If you have a good enough PC you have to see this, the concept and design is just awesome! The same as Assault from Unreal Tournament, I hope you enjoy :)
Hmmm, not many diagonals. The design is okay, as mentioned before the levels are very small. I’d guess about 50×50, just about perfect for 1vs1 (you got that Bobby? ;) I also liked the way he used my tileset (the rain moves a bit too slow though), a long time ago when I tested this he mentioned some "lightning" effect where the background flashed every now and then for some unknown reason. The levels are okay overall, not anyhting extremely great, but also not the worst I’ve seen. I will repeat myself and say: The only thing they are really worthy of is dueling.
Hehe, yes, I told him right after he put it on Jazz2City. It’s just one of those little things that seem to happen. That was such an old level, I’m quite suprised someone actually remembers it. Prolly my first battle level I made where I focused a lot on design rather than just my average slap-dash type of level making. Haha, I made this level to rejoice my happiness for making it into J2LC. Haha, I can’t even remember how logn ago it was :)
Hehehe, I also remember this, was quite a LONG time ago. A J2LC Summer Pack, well, it wasn’t actually posted in summer for you ppl, but Wisye here in the southern hemisphere managed to rejoice through the summer because this is one pack actually made for him :)
I also cannot rate this because some (I think 3 or 4) of the levels are mine.
An awesome battle pack! Would’ve ogtten 10 if those barrels in the water weren’t that annoying. This is a MUST-DOWNLOAD for all battle freaks :)
Nice race level, I remember i tested this one a loooong time ago :) It has a lot of different types of obstacles for a person to try and pass. Not EXTREMELY long either, just right. I like it :)
Ack! The sound prolem you have with trancestruct is quite simple :) Most ppl should actually hear the sound. I forgot (I’m sure you all heard me say this word at least 1000 times in my lifetime) to remove the music file extension. So, if ya wanna hear sound, just change the "songcd8.s3m" to "songcd8". Sowwy about that ya all.
Btw, Martin, this is a batle pack and I would prefer not to seperately submit the levels. I’d hate to have 2 versions of the same level on the net and downloa them all the time. If any of you other ppl would like this level, then the only way you’re gonna get it is to download the whole pack.
Another fun little fact, I spent more time and effort on Dis44 than I did with Dis43. I’ve never used the neonius tileset before and had to figure out basically everything from scratch, but I made the sonic tileset, and there is absolutely no easier tileset to use than your own :)
WHAAA? U have got to be KIDDING! me. we made this to see if we could get the lowest possible rating (I just couldn’t resist adding comments to the newbies), and what do we get? 6?!?!?!?!? Aiko thanks for at least rating honestly (and fireclaw for the honest remark). 6, haha, man, I wonder if I’ll ever hear the end of this, that’s the last time I try to make the worst levels out, BOOHOOHOO! Looks like the newbies still beat us in the act, ugh.
Oh, sorry boss for not having ur name in. I’m 100% sure I put it in, it was the first thing I did to make sure I didn’t forget. Hmmm, I wonder what could’ve happenned, I could blame it on J2O, but I suppose I’ll just give them gray hairs (and that after putting up an awesome site like this), so rather not. I’ll just go with the average saying that says I forgot to put it in. End of story :)
Whoops, forgot to mention, keep a close look out for ZA’s good side, to be released soon. It was originally planned to be released with this pack, but I have a whole athletics meeting thingy tomorrow, so I had to practice for the time I was ill and didn’t get a chance to work on any levels.
Two skeleton monsters and a crate on a 2×8 layer 4, way boring really.
South African origin, hehe, I like that :)
You see folks, we’re not that bad afterall :P
Wow, a very nice design for a battle level ya got there :) Small, nice for duels (hehe, I’m sure Bobby will like it) or a small group of ppl. I’d say about 6 MAX. The tileset is also awesome, but in a way ur first is better. But don’t think this means this one isn’t good. It sort of reminds me of my old motherboard tileset, but just better :)
Only problem I found is those sucker tubes at the sides very irritating if you want to go down at the sides. Both sucker tubes go up at the sides, and since there is nothing to block you from going into them from any side, you can easily run into them and go all the way up again, so this only gets a 7 form me.
