This tileset contains fails of the epic proportions.
All you did with this is take the tileset that came with jazz 2, corrected the weird blue colors, and added your name. Nothing was added. No hooks, vines, backgrounds, tubes or anything was added. Not even any animations were found, making this tileset almost useless. I usually rate the colors next, but since this is a direct rip from the one that came with jazz i won’t say anything. The masking in on auto masking meaning jazz will bump into everything, even furthering the uselessness of this tileset.
Need I say more? you have no reason to use this tileset and deserves a big fat embarrassing 1. I know it’s no use complaining about something that was uploaded 4 years ago, but even by the standers of 1997, this is inexcusable.
Final Score: 1 and a not download recommended.
This is very bad.
DEVAN’S GONE MAD REVIEW:
EYECANDY: Very poor. I think you used Layers 4 & 8. You must also use Layer 5, 6 or 7 if you want a good background. There was hardly any background in Muckamok. There was little Eyecandy in the Jungle level. The Exit sign in the Muckamok level was facing the WRONG way. 1/10
GAMEPLAY: There was hardly any. I finished the whole level pack in 20 seconds. You could also fall off very easily. 0/10
OBSTACLES/ENEMIES: No obstacles, not even any Buttstomp or Destruct scenery were in any of these levels. Very few enemies can be found in both levels. 1/10
PICKUPS: There was some useless Bouncer and Seeker ammo in Level 1. There was also only about 10-20 gems. There was a pointless Electro Blaster Power-Up at the beginning of Level 2 (Muckamok). Hardly any pick ups could be found in either of these 2 levels. All of the other weapons were not even needed. 1/10
TOTAL = 3/40 (0.75)
BONUSSES/MINUSSES:
No bonusses.
Very poor choice of music in the Jungle level. -0.25
OVERALL MARK: 0.75 – 0.25 = 0.5
But it will have to be a 1 since scores below that are impossible on J2O.
If you do make Part 2, make sure it is longer and much bigger. Also, make sure there is more than 2 levels.
DOWNLOAD RECOMMENDATION: No
Wow…wow…that was sad dude. The graphics were neat but come on when u make a level actully make the level! Not this 5 secs stuff. Honestly it took me longer to load the game then to beat the levels. when u put out part 2/3 make more then 2 levels and make them longer then 50×50.
May I ask what is so wrong with rating below one? Honestly, some level packs deserve it, and it’s oprressing my reviews. Infact instead of just removing the rating, many of my below 1 rated reviews got deleted. The ‘bug’ has been around for over a year, so deleting it seems like a dumb move.
How does this fit into my review? I’ll tell you: THIS PACK DESERVES A .5 AND I CAN’T RATE IT THAT. Hoenstly, a 1 is giving this messy heap of junk too much credit. And it’s bugging me to no end.
Both levels have an insane ammount of places where you fall to the bottom of the level. They are incredibly short, nothing is explained except Jazz got some wrong mission and he magically warped from a Jungle to Muckamok. Even on hard, I found no difficulty, and calling this thing ‘fun’ is downright insane. The eyecand is horribly bad(and quite laughable in the first level).
Do not download this, it’s a waste of time.
This review will be a tad short, because two glances was all it took to have a verdict ready… and it’s not that good :P
Conversion Completeness
First of all, this is a conversion done straight from the .anm in the Tiles Folder of JJ2. Everything that it had is present, but nothing, but nothing was added. At least the colors aren’t off which can plague such a conversion, I guess some brownie points are in order.
Added Stuff
See the previous section. This will be more of a tip section for the author. By today’s standards, a conversion should have most, if not all of the following, if applicable:
o vines
o poles
o destructable blocks
o hooks
o sucker tubes (à la Tubelectric)
o conveyor belts (à la Labratory)
o a textured background
o a working color palette
This conversion has all that stuff missing.
Masks
Auto-mask, ‘nuff said. Seriously, the mask should have nothing but straight lines, here everything is masked so Jazz will bump into everything.
Final Verdict
Need I say more? This conversion is very subpar and unusable because he only took one single step. Add the fact it’s Marbelara yet again, and it’s definetely not recommended.
